Since i only saw this thread late on, dazzo has kindly let me add my chapter to the list, so cheers dazzo, here it is.

Storm Wardens:

Founded in the latter years of the 37th millennium the Storm Wardens’ primogenitor chapter are the Black Templars, though only the upper echelons of their command are aware of this, and to an outsider, this would not be an obvious choice.

During a crusade against the Orks on the planet of Helsfen it became apart to the Ordo Hereticus that the number of Black Templers present nigh on exceeded 700. Knowing that at least two other Crusades were underway simultaneously, the Inquisition realised that the number of Black Templers exceeded the 1,000 men as stated in the Codex Astartes. However, being aware that their faith was True, these Black Templers were permitted to live and thus were born the Storm Wardens.

Taking Helsfen as their home world, they were charged by the Inquisition to hold the World at any cost against the increasing numbers of the greenskin Waagh.

Lest the problem arise once more, in penitence, the Storm Wardens were tasked to drive out the extreme zeal from their ranks, and as such became more maudlin in their outlook.

Being of a world bereft of significant land mass, the Storm Wardens take great care to ensure that no ground is gained by the enemy except at a great price and even then only if no other choice is left. As such, the Storm Wardens are experts at holding ground against their enemies, yet at the same time are capable of taking the fight to the enemies of the Emperor.

All those "Crimson" chapters and no mention of my own dear Crimson Praetorians?

I mean, they were even in WD!  Well... one was.  In the back pages (I was working in Mail Order at the time).  But still, White Dwarf.   ;D

I'll have to check for the issue number, but there is a picture of one in WD.

I created them about 4-5 years ago, but I lost the fluff I wrote a long time ago due to a computer dieing.

Basically they are an Imperial Fist successor chapter.  Their names were mostly Roman in origin, and they specialised in siege-assault.  Lots of Vindicators and Assault Marines.  They were still a Codex chapter though.

Kinda makes me want to go back and start writing about them again.

Color scheme (until I can find that issue or just take a pic) is as follows:  Helmet, chest, shoulder trim, forearms, hands, backpack, groin, greaves, and feet are a bright red.  The upper arms, shoulder interior, and upper legs are a beige color.  The right shoulder pad is used for squad markings as normal.

The left shoulder pad is quartered, with white in the upper left and lower right, and beige in the others.  There is a black fist in the center to pay homage to their founding legion.

Just about spot on!

I wrote the scheme from work, and accidentally reversed the colors on the arms.  The upper should be red, and the lower should be beige.

Nope, those aren't my Crimson Praetorians.  Kinda weird/cool that two people came up with the same name and yet totally different backgrounds!

Okay, I've got a brief synopsis for the Knights of the Imperium that I'm happy with.

Originally they were the 2nd legion of Space Marines under the watchful eye of their primarch Tiberius. They were known as undefeatable in battle, not even loosing a single marine. Even a wound that would normally kill a marine trice over, a Knights of the Imperium marine was able to recover from. It was eventually discovered that ancient sorcery was used by Tiberius to make this possible. They were labled as traitors and listed as Excommunicate in the records. Tiberius and the Knights of the Imperium fled their home world to a desolate desert like one located in the Ghost Stars region.

Eventually, they were discovered by a person who revealed himself as a servant for a Man of Great Importance and were given an offer that was too good to pass up. They would serve him unconditionally in exchange for more troops and supplies. They would also be able to tend to their business without the fear of eradication from another force from the Imperium. Tiberius eventually agreed and the Man of Great Importance erased all known information from the Imperial records on them. They were reentered into the system officially as a 29th founding of the Imperial Fists. The Man of Great Importance never reveals himself to Tiberius or any of the Knights of the Imperium and issues orders through one of countless servants. It is even unknown if today it is same man who issues orders as it initially was, or even if the same one issues an order more than once.

Durring battle, they rely a lot on marines that have various mutations caused by a strange substance that originated from their home planet. Some of the mutations are a simple as heightened senses, others are as obvious as wings or extra limbs. They also rely on the summoning of undead creatures using the same necromatic spells that kept their marines alive after being what should have been a mortal wound. However they often fight along side other armies of the Imperium, especially members of the Inquisition. Durring this time, they must suspend their usual style of fighting and abide closely to codex style. They are unable to make use of any mutations or any sorcery of any shape or sort, even Tiberius himself is not allowed to enter combat or even make himself seen.

edit: Changed it from one of the High Lords of Terra to A Man of Great Importance to highten the mystery behind their situation.

Uhh, I was reading some Epic stuff, and I saw a reference to an SM chapter known as the Storm Lords. I figured you would give precedence of GW chapters over others, but I was unsure, so I thought I would let you know.
If you go to this link I have a made a craftworld-kabal battle system that needs ironing out and testing. If you have any edit suggestions, please PM me or post in the thread.

storm lords a GW chapter, they are in the old codex space marines............

i play with a chapter called the DESERT SUNS, whom are adept at fight on desert planets (no suprises)
i dont use jump pack infantry or land speeders because their air filters would get filled with sand, but i use converted buggys to count as landspeeders.

they are painted in bone with a maroon shoulder-pad trim
ABSENT TILL MY RETURN.

Not sure what you mean, they are on the list, I just checked?

And Desert Sons makes more sense for desert specialists, children of the desert and all that.

Hey all,

Thought I would contribute my chapter to the list.  They go by the name of the "Silver Helms" chapter.  They are a relatively new force, created just prior to the Adeptus Praeses batch of the Emporer's Finest.  They are of Ultramarines stock but possess a quirk to their overall interpretation of the Codex.

First off, all marines are depicted with the primary armor painted a frost white (so not as blue as Space Wolf Grey, but not as white as Skull white) with their trim and helmets painted Mithril Silver.  Their weapons are kept a simple black or grey, as they find little need to make their armaments stand out.  Their shoulder-pads are blood red to signafy the sacrifices made by themselves and all members of the Imperium to continue the line of humanity.

The Silver Helms were granted a homeworld know as Incyrm IV which is unique in that all of its population lives underground or in high orbit.  The reasons for this are many, but all stem from the fact that Incyrm IV is constantly plagued by cast lightning storms which make quick work of anything that happens to be standing tallest.  This also makes it very difficult to pilot shuttles and supplies through the atmosphere without the hostile weather from destroying the craft.  That is why Incrym IV (and subsequently the Silver Helms) relies heavily on teleporter technology.  As the surface is so hostile to flying machines, the chapter makes no use of Land Speeders or Assault Troops as they have few ways to train their units with such items.  The planet itself, while being a practial deathworld on the surface, is actually quite wealthy within the Imperium.  There are vast mines filled with valuable materials and archaelogical finds.  A few damaged STC units have also been found in several excavation sites.  The materials they unearth on the planet are teleported to the vast refinery cities that hover vigilantly in orbit which processes any ores or items for shipment, and likewise sneds back foodstuffs and essentials.

The Silver Helms have taken several things to heart while living on and drawing recruits from this world, and these lessons show in their tactics.

For one they rarely go into combat without transports as they feel safer travelling enclosed in a grounded creation (as rhinos and razorbacks due make use of electricity/power surge nullifying equiment) but will, when necessary, teleport straight into battle through use of their many teleportation devices housed on the Battle Barges "Deterrence" and "Fortitude".  They forsake almost all forms of atmospheric flight prferring to keep their feet on the ground. (Minor Drawback: Die Standing,Major Drawback:Eye to Eye)

To prevent their valiant numbers from being infected by various mutations that have eradicated other chapters, the Silver Helms have a great number of Apothecaries within their ranks to keep their lines forever pure from taint.  (Advantage: Purity Above All)

Lastly the Silver Helms are well versed in the art of fighting within tight quarters.  Therefore, rather than training with a sword or axe which many be unweildly in a tight spot, every marine has been trained on how to use a bayoneted bolter as a brutal close quarters weapon.  Furthermore they have been versed in when to best strike back at an enemy which has already commited themselves to a most likely fatal charge.  (Advantage: Trust Your Battle Brothers)

Well that's it...I hope you like the fluff and find my Marines up to par with the rest of the 1000.

Happy Gaming,
-Tylaris of the Silver Helms

Go to the bolter & chainsword site and its on the menu bar right at the top of the screen, spacemarine painter v3. Do your picture then printscreen, paste it into MS paint (if you have it) and save it. I use Image shack for uploading images, I think theres a link in my sig for it.

There's an easier way, when you see your completed image for the first time, click the link on the bottom of the image and it will show you your image again without the link on the bottom. Simply right click on it and save as.
