Regiment's Designation: 105th Siccian Aggressive Reconnaissance

Home World: Siccia IV (on the eastern edge of Segmentum Solar)

Background: Originally raised to fight in the Damocles Gulf Crusade, the 105th served with distinction against the Tau and their allies. When the crusade was abandoned, they were redeployed from planet to planet across the Segmentum, fighting everything from traitorous guardsmen to a minor tendril of a Tyranid hive fleet, and earning a reputation for effective, albeit unorthodox, methods. Most recently they have been deployed to fight the Tau once more. They are currently involved in a protracted campaign of urban warfare against a Tau expeditionary force near the Eastern Fringe.

Officially labeled an "Aggressive Reconnaissance" regiment, the makeup of the 105th is closer to an air cavalry regiment, with a large number of Valkyrie-mounted infantry supported by Sentinels and Ratlings on the ground. Roving ahead of the main Imperial force, they attack vital objectives behind enemy lines, in order to destabilize the defenders before the main Imperial advance hits. To aid in this, they usually have a small amount of armored support (traditionally from a Siccian armored regiment) in the form of a handful of Leman Russ tanks, and an artillery piece or two.

The current commander of the 105th Siccian, Colonel Roland, is not one for etiquette. Most often seen in full combat regalia, even when most commanders would wear their dress uniforms, it is said among his men that he has only two moods: Ill-tempered, and furious. Though he is often prone to sarcasm and even, on occasion, genuine good humor, it does little to dull his reputation as a generally unpleasant man.

Despite his lack of social graces, his strategic acumen, concern for the lives of his troops, and complete willingness (some would say insistence) to lead from the front lines ensures the men of the Siccian 105th will continue to fight under him without question. And fight they do, until they are given a planet to call their own, allowed to return home, or, far more likely, are wiped out by some alien horror.
