Unit Designation: 40th Mercian Hive Corps 'Reborn Honour'

Homeworld: Mercia

Background: The ancient Hive system of Mercia is the administrative capital of the Numedia sub-sector, Mercia itself being a steaming Hive world with over a hundred-and-thirty-five inhabitants. Though Mercia is famous throughout the Segmentum Tempestus for its mighty shipyards, and its cruisers make up the most of the larger vessels in Battle Fleet Orian, the planet has - over the millennia - raised a total of 40 Hive Corps, totaling many hundreds of billions of soldiers. The latest Hive Corps is the 40th, nicknamed 'Reborn Honour', in reference to the disgrace brought upon the planet during the Lyrax-Mercia conflict.

The Corps was raised in 801.M41, three years after the end of the inter-sub-sector conflict and the destruction of the last elements of the 39th during the Major Frrrs invasion of Tandrake, and it initially numbered three point seven million soldiers, though that number was increased to nine point three million by 897.M41 and to eleven point nine million by 991.M41, after the Battle for Corah.

Lieutenant R.T. Perk is shown with a few of his recruits. Perk used to be the lieutenant of second platoon regulars, until his entire platoon - including his command squad - got wiped out in an ambush during an Ork attack. Perk stood his ground, rallied the nearby recruits platoon, took command of them and continued to destroy the entire Ork Mob pitted against him, including all of the Scar Boys that had sprung the trap on his platoon. In the end, only Perk and two of his recruits were alive to complete the objective his force was sent out to do. Perk declined a promotion, but accepted a position as overall commander of recruits in the 40.233rd.



Standard Bearer:



Heavy Support, a unit of Ogryns from Brutus - the 'Brawlers', led by Sergeant Bash, from the Mercian 40.112th Mechanized, attached to the 40.233rd:



Bikers, also from the 40.112th Mechanized and attached to the 40.233rd. This squadron - 12th Squadron of 3rd Platoon, 4th Company, led by Sergeant Vest - distinguished itself during an Imperial raid on a Frrrs-held world and proved to prefer to work in conjecture with infantry instead of in a fully mechanized force, and was therefore attached to the 40.233rd Infantry by Lieutenant-General Quillard de Bern, commander of the 40.11:
