Pick a dark under colour.  Then don't use it.  Instead find the lightest shade of that colour and paint the crystal in it.  Fade from light to dark. Ink the Crystal in the lightest ink available.  Let it dry.  Take out a drybrush and some white paint.  Thrash the crystal diagonally in both forward and backward strokes.  Creating a Criss Crosse(Jump Jump) matrix.  Instant Crystals!

i think you misunderstand, frankie, he was asking how to paint BLADES so that they look like crystals, not how to paint gems!
Would you like fries with that?

Yeah, I think Frank was actually describing what was asked for.  It would be similar to some gem techniques, because a crystal blade and a gem are the same material, so of course painting them would also be similar.

Here is a good example of a crystal looking blade:

If you look around the rest of Jennifer's site, I think she has a couple more similar blades...

choose a colour. find the middle shade, like Ultra marine blue, or Blood red. Then highlight from centre out. then paint lots of quick lines (like on the sword)
When it is One on One you will surely run or i will come and skin you
