Thanks, Mage!

I'm actually waiting on a new chair to come in before I resume my painting.

My current one is about shot with the way it is now lol.

Yeah I'm in the same boat, I was planing on replacing mine in the second half of the year, then CORVID hit and now everyone who works from home realized their chairs are terrible for a full work day, so all the stores are empty of decent office chairs, most places are saying another month before they might see stock again.

I knew mine was are aweful before, just an old folding chair. I have my comfy chair in with my Xbox 360, have a level 51 on skyrim, just in the past month. Played ff7 many many years ago but nothing to support the new game, hope you have fun with it. Now, get some more painting done, I'm going back to my uncomfortable chair in a while and try to get some more painting done.

So what do you guys think for a 2nd army:

Lumineth or Daughters of Khaine?

I'm feeling a lure between both, but I feel with the beastgrave and now war cry reveals for the knainite shadowstalkers... i'm feeling the pull.

I won't try to sway you either way DoK, because they're both beautiful DoK armies. For myself, I'm really enjoying DoK painting my witches. I put a pic up in my project of a wip if you'd like to see. DoK anyhow I know you'll make the right decision  8)

I have not seen any significant changes to how DoK play and you didn't seem that happy with them.. that said they might play differently later on and there is nothing wrong with just collecting and painting them.

I'm look at those Lumineth and the new warcry elves and I would like to get my hand on them for some conversions into 40k ;)

Yeah I see what you're saying  :), a part of me feels like I didn't give them enough time for me to adjust to their playstyle.

BUT, after some more thought, I think Lumineth are just going to be better from a cost perspective. DoK is likely the most expensive army in AoS right now. So, maybe I don't want to relive that part so much lol :P.

I am leaning more towards the Lumineth now! Especially with that box set on the way!

Yeah, GW's box set for DoK are a bit odd, they helped out a bit when they changed the start collecting box, but yeah it will be interesting to see how GW prices the new elves given the state of most economies around the world. Previous to the virus I would have expected the price point to be higher than the new DoK models, but probably less than the banshee's.

10 more Thralls to go before I hit the 30 that I want. Still have the last kit in the box :).

Finally phased out most of my old paints, which were well over a year old at this point and starting to show.

Kept my washes, contrast, and the paints that I only bought recently.

I bought a vallejo game air set to replace them ;D, should be longer lasting because of the bottles. Excited to dive into vallejo.

Did some testing with the game air. A different experience to citadel, some good, some a little frustrating. But overall I'm liking it.

Only highlights on this guy so far is the skin. I used a combination of carroburg crimson over drakenhoff nightshade for two tone skin.

Some of it got lost in the highlighting, but I still like it.

It looks good but something feels a bit off on the first photo from the front. Opening the first front pic to full size, it might be a bit heavy on the shading. The wrist/forearm and rear muscle under the shoulder seem a bit too dark or too big of an area to be that dark. Where as if you take a look at the last photo showing its back, the skin looks better.

Hey Mage,

Thanks for the feedback! I probably should have thinned the shade down a bit more. I'll try to correct that going forward and seeing what I can do on that test model.

Thanks!

Base coated.

I feel like no matter how many missed spots I go over I somehow find several more lol
Think I'm going to go over it with a light glaze of contrast to solidify the base coat and remove whatever grey spots got left behind

your nailing the eel skin, it looks great!

The wood is looking good, the light and dark tones through to wood not just in the veins is a really nice touch.

Thank you, Mage!

Might do one more highlight on the eel skin and call it done on that part.

The effect on the wood was unintentional, but I agree that it is cool!

Will probably start highlighting the wood soon :).

Your getting good with that air brush, the eel looks boss. The blue wash really brings it out. The purple touches are solid and the rider fits perfectly with the rest of your guys. The ship looks like it's coming along nicely. My suggestion, it's a ship wreck that's been submerged, I would add a bit of greying to it with some light blue or turquoise to give it that old rotted appearance. Anyhow, can't wait to see it finished.

Thanks, Dread, but this is actually all been accomplished by brush ;D. Haven't fired up the airbrush since the first time I used it lol.

I'm still trying to figure that thing out honestly.

Here's some more stuff I've been working on! Including my first ever yellow painted model, which was done agonizingly by brush lol.

Wow everything looks fantastic. Your eels are just brilliant and the base of the purple one looks amazing.

I like the look of your ship as it is and I am not sure if it needs the added realism of rotting wood as Dread suggests. Considering all the magic that is going on I think the highlight you mention should be enough to finish the model off.
