Can Necrons come back if they are hit with a power weapon per say?

Yup. They only go down on you( ;D) if they are killed with and Instakill weapon. Powerfist Krak Missile Brightlance. Demolisher Cannon you know the deal.
Otherwise the We'll be back rule still applies

That's the ticket.  The rule reads that a model only gets a chance to come back if there is a 'living' model of the SAME TYPE with in 6 inches.

Actually, in the new rules, they cannot regenerate if hit by a power weapon in assault, or by any weapon with twice the strength of its toughness.

If power weapons ignore coming back, would AP 2 do the trick also? (starcannon)

Err.....Witchblades do NOT ignore their special rule, as they neither ignore armor nor have strength twice the toughness [granted, it would make snese though].

No. Only powerweapons in assault. Don't ask.

If witchblades were power weapons there'd be a lot more of those 1-huge-seer-council armies, I'm sure.

AP doesn't matter.  The Necrons can't come back if they are instakilled, which means the weapons strength is at least twice the targets toughness.  A strength 6 Starcannon, if it wounded, would instakill a toughness 3 Necron and prevent it from having a chance to get up.

That said I don't believe there is a toughness 3 Necron.  If I remember correctly (please correctly if I'm wrong), warriors are toughness 4 and Immortals are 5.  So a brightlance (S8) would instakill warriors, but we're out of luck for immortals.  It would take a Tau railgun for those guys.

while starcannon don't instakill or prevent them from coming back, they are still really great for taking out whole squads really fast...

I absolutly agree.  Starcannons seem to have that effect on most armies.   ;D

Correct. Witchblades only have str *3 against vehicles. Against all others they wound on a 2+, which isn't the same thing. So....no insta-kill.

If it's the unit I'm thinking of, then the "Teleporting thing of nastiness" is pretty nasty, but no more so than a Phoenix Lord (and I'd say Baharroth is nastier).  It's the HQ unit, some kind of Lord with 3 wounds.  Just treat it like any other HQ and put a put a couple of big guns on it, it'll drop.

I would be a lot more worried about the Immortals that it'll bring with it.  Mobile Starcannons will help with this.  You're going to need to be able to get your big guns accross the table quickly, so look to Falcons and Vypers.  A 12" move with a 36" to 48" range (starcannon and brightlance respectivly) means you should be able to put a big gun on anywhere on the table, the limiting factor being line of sight.

Brightlances only have a range of 36". However, a Falcon Pulse Laser might do the trick, and there's a good chance of multiple shots so the gunner MIGHT ACTUALLY HIT SOMETHING! >:( Oh, well, hopefully we'll get BS4 in the next codex...
