How Does The Report To Moderator Button Work
« on: January 2, 2014, 07:22:39 AM »
Just wondering what happen when I use the report to moderator button. It has been pointed out by the Staff that the button is there to be used but I'm wondering what is the point as the last couple of times I have used it I haven't had a response of any kind. Taking the General 40K Board as an example it lists 3 Moderators as being responsible for the Board. If I use the report button in this Board does the report only go to these 3 Moderators? None of them have posted in over a year and 2 of them haven't been active for over 15 months.

The report to the moderator button notifies all the locals assigned to a particular board, as you say, but it also notifies all globals, admins, and probably Kindred as well (since he has admin permissions).  As a result, moderator reports will always be seen by someone, even if the locals for said board are inactive.

Cheers Irisado as helpful and quick as usual. Should I put the lack of response down to Christmas then? Or should I see the lack of response as an answer?

Normally, if a report isn't enacted upon, it means that no action is needed.  If you want a more detailed explanation, you'd have to ask whoever handled the report, but I can't give you an answer to that, because I don't receive reports from that board.

As Irisado said, a report will be visible to all the local moderators of a board as well as those of the Global Moderator level and higher.  Not only do we see those reports on the website, but we also receive an email notifying us that a post had been reported.

The holidays may be a reason why no action has been taken against a post you reported, but 99% of the time it is because the staff have reviewed the situation and deemed that no action is required.  Good rule of thumb to go by is hit the report button once and let it be.  If it needs to be dealt with, it will be.  If not, then it won't be.
If there is anything that recent politics has taught us, it is that quotes taken out of context can mean what ever you want them to.
Well I always liked the globals...
