First attempt at 1K Saim-Hann list for 10th edition!
« on: June 29, 2023, 10:27:45 PM »
It's been a while since I've hit up EldarOnline. Almost 20 years! I'm thinking about trying 40K again for 10th edition, and here's what I'm thinking for a 1K Saim-Hann list.

I'm concerned about the low model count, but despite few total models the army still comes in at 71 total wounds. I'm wondering...can we be competitive without Eldrad? Does the high speed of jetbikes help us with objectives enough that we can get away with "Oops! All Jetbikes!"

The plan is for the scatter laser team to sit back with the Lynx on home objective and for the Autarch team to lead the charge with the Farseer's group close behind.

Farseer Skyrunner (75)
    Reader of the Runes (20)
6 Windriders (160)
    Shuriken Cannons
1 Warlock Skyrunner (55)
    Singing Spear

Autarch Skyrunner (80)
    The Phoenix Gem (25)
6 Windriders (160)
    Shuriken Cannons
1 Warlock Skyrunner (55)
    Singing Spear

6 Windriders (160)
   Scatter Lasers
1 Warlock Skyrunner (55)
    Singing Spear

1 Lynx (155)

Welcome back :).  It was never the case that Eldrad was needed to be competitive.  That myth came about because of a small group of players whose experience was solely based around a narrow range of tournaments that did not use gaming tables with appropriate amounts of terrain and featured unusually large armies.  In addition, it would be more than a touch odd for Eldrad to lead a Saim-Hann army ;).

As to where your list stands in the new edition, nobody really knows for certain, as it is all so new.  Based on my reading of the new rules, cover remains largely ineffective, so there is a premium on mobility and firepower.  This list seems to cover both of those, so my advice would be to test it out as it is and see how it goes.  Jetbikes and mechanised Eldar seem to be the best prospect for tenth edition, but until a lot more games have been played nobody can know for sure.

The new edition plays quite differently than 9th. My number one advice would be getting the objective cards which are really easy to buy for cheap right now and skim through the secondaries (which are for the most part identical to 9th). 1k pts are now played on 60x44 as per standard rules now (in contrast to 30x44 in 9th)  so mobility would allow you to grab primary objectives early. I reckon that at 1k points highly mobile armies will be marginally more powerful than slower ones.
