Really nice painting deusmex! Wow, those models look great! The red looks really deep and realistic and the overall shading and highlights look wonderful. Is the banner totally free hand? It's so precise.

If I may; one thing I don't really like is the green you use for the bases. A darker tone of green or brown would be more realistic imo.

You used a big base for the liby right? Is he wearing terminator armor?

Thanks :)
The banner isnt free hand, as my art skills suck at best. I got the lettering from the marines transfer sheet and the symbol is a dark angels transfer painted black with a tear drop painted on it.

As for the bases I like my characters on big bases, I know this means he isnt tournament legal and if any opponent objects, I have a stand in model on a normal base.  I used Goblin green on the edge just to give it a little variation, I normally go for Brown or plain black.

Thank you all for the kind comments.

Well I've finally got how to post pictures on this site, and felt it was time to show my own army off. I call them the Neo Templars, But i just use the Black Templar codex. When playing. As with all armies there are a few models that are still works in progress, and the Dreadnought I bought off ebay. The rest is all my work. Iv'e only been playing for three years, and painting for less than half that time.

I have even dared to mod some of the models, (the dread and one rhino) but only slightly. The mod on the dreadnought is a stripe of yellow paint down its back. A joke between my friends and myself. Long story......, short version My dreadnought tactically withdrew from a potentailly bad situation. And of cousre my friends made the comment that they've never seen a dreadnought with a yellow stripe down its back (before i painted it on). So to shut them up I painted one on it. I'm going to have to repaint it though. In a tournament that dreadnought killed half a fire dragon sqd, and two wave serpents. One in CC. In the one match.

Thats right Ive got one of those old Speeders

My version of vulkan. He is more complete now than in the picture here. My goal was to match the codex picture as best I could

My command squad

Sgt Dan. (there will be better pictures of him and his squad later

This was one of the first marines I ever painted. It has sence been striped and recyled into a tactical squad (I assume)

Nice blog you guys have there! One of you can make some good pictures!

I took some shots of my whole army, which expanded quite a lot in the last months. Here are some pics:

Blood Angels so far. I started them before I knew about the new codex, so it's just a bonus  :)

Nice army! When did you start this one? Are you expanding more and how many points is this?

Thank you  :) about 1100pts at the moment, expanding all the time. I picked Blood Angels for this year's army project (last year was Orks) in December.

Howdy all, first post heh :D

Just started a few weeks ago with the Black Reach set and a tactical squad. Here are the first 3 Space Marines, hopefully I'll have some more pieces to post in the future.

I'm designing my own chapter, which has proved to be quite a bit of fun. Haven't actually played any games yet, but hopefully that is even better than theorizing and painting haha.

Sweet work, Tragik, they're very nice. What base colour do you think you're going to run with?

Hey thanks, I've seen some of your troops, they look amazing.

I hadn't thought much about bases! I'm going for a city liberation force theme, so maybe I'll do black gravel and put some lane markers or broken road slabs on the bigger models, haha. I really like how static grass looks, so I kinda want to use that some too.

Do you have any suggestions for what would work with the color scheme? I played a little Warhammer Fantasy back when I was in high school but never strayed from the goblin green / flock bases. I'm quite a bit older now, and my hand is steadier, so I thought I'd try to make everything look as nice as possible haha.

In terms of simple colour theory, dark bases would be a bad idea. There's no contrast between grey armour and grey bases, so from a distance they just look like blobs. Ideally, you would use a sandy brown or something similar, proving contrast to your rather dark heraldry.
