"All shooty Zilla Nids"

I have played against Tyranids many times.  I am still mad at them for killing all the Squats though :'(.  I am looking for a third army and I really like the idea of a all shooty list using mainly Zilla nids.  Could this work?  Something along the lines of this:

HQ
Tyrant-2 Venom cannons
Tyrant-2 Venom cannons

ELITE
Carnifex-Barb strangler
Carnifex-Barb strangler
Carnifex-Barb strangler

TROOPS
????????

HEAVY SUPPORT
3 Carnifexes with different shooting options

Could someone give me some information on if this could work?  And some advice?

While you can get a Carnifex with Barbed strangler for an elite, I wouldn't suggest it, you still need to buy a 2nd weapon, and you may not have enough points to get enhanced senses after that.  2 sets of twin-linked devourers with enhanced sensed is a really good elite shooty carnifex.

For shooty troops, get basic gaunts.  A lot of people give them devourers since it has the best range of all of their guns.  I prefer without toxin sacs in order to have greater numbers of them.

You should get a tyrant guard or 2 for each tyrant to keep your hive nodes around longer too.

Also, get some spore mines for fast attack choices.  They are cheap, and will aggravate your opponent since they can hit anywhere on the board.

For troops, a few units of gaunts, some hormagaunts and rippers to get the enemy bogged down, inflict a few casualties and stop them from firing at your precious beasties as much as possible.

Yeah it can work, and work well, but it's not a free pass to endless victories.

toxin+devourer gaunts for shooting/rippers (possibly leaping) for tie up/genestealers for counter assault

any spare points into devourer raveners/maybesome gargoyles

I would lose one Tyrant and get a squad of shooty warriors, and grab some Termagaunts and Hormagaunts for troops, and maybe some gargoyles for counter assault and objective grabbing.

Exactly what I was thinking.   I run an IG army with alot of tanks and love it.  I was thinking of making something along those line with the bugs.  Cause lets face it canifexes and tyrants are just like a big bad tank.  So the fewer the models that better.
