Thank you all for playing. I have gained much from this forage back into the world of diplomacy. Cheers and happy back-stabbing!

Good game to you, sir.  Our relationship throughout the whole thing was a fun one.

Retreats are here. The English slink off to London and the Baltic while the French disband their army in Piedmont and sail their fleet to the shelter of Apulia.

The map for builds then looks like this:

Actual builds are as follows:
Austria:   Supp  9 Unit  7 Build  2
England:   Supp  5 Unit  7 Remove  2
France:    Supp  6 Unit  5 Build  1
Germany:   Supp  3 Unit  2 Build  1
Russia:    Supp 11 Unit  9 Build  2

The Italian army in Tuscany will be removed as well.

Get those to me ASAP please.

Re: IainC's Dastardly Diplomatic Devilry - Builds for 1907 due
« Reply #63 on: April 27, 2011, 10:31:47 AM »
Time to get on with 1908! Builds are all in, new fleets in St Petersburg, Trieste and Marseille while armies muster in Moscow, Vienna and Berlin. On the other side of the equation, the English fleets in the Baltic and Norwegian seas are quietly retired and the Italian army in Tuscany salutes the flag for the last time.

Now we are five and the real battles are just beginning. Orders for Spring 1908 are due by Midnight GMT on Saturday 30th April.

To the surprise of no-one, the Russian fleet makes for the transient safety of Naples.

The map going into the Autumn then looks like this:

The deadline for Fall 1908 orders then is Midnight GMT on Wednesday 4th May

My bad, I had all the orders - on time even - but forgot to post the update. Much apologies.

Anyhow, here are your orders:

Austria:
F Adriatic Sea - Ionian Sea
A Apulia Supports F Naples
A Bohemia Supports A Tyrolia - Munich
A Budapest - Serbia
A Greece Hold
A Piedmont Hold
A Rome Supports A Apulia
A Tyrolia - Munich
A Venice Supports A Piedmont

England:
F Denmark - Sweden (*Dislodged*)
A Holland Supports A Ruhr
A Liverpool Hold
F London - North Sea (*Fails*)
A Ruhr Hold

France:
A Burgundy - Belgium
F Gulf of Lyon Supports F Western Mediterranean - Tyrrhenian Sea
F Ionian Sea - Aegean Sea
A Marseilles Hold
F Tunis Supports F Western Mediterranean - Tyrrhenian Sea
F Western Mediterranean - Tyrrhenian Sea

Germany:
A Berlin - Kiel (*Fails*)
A Kiel - Denmark (*Fails*)
A Munich Supports A Berlin - Kiel (*Dislodged*)

Russia:
F Edinburgh Supports F Norway - North Sea
A Livonia - Prussia
F Naples Supports F Adriatic Sea - Ionian Sea
F North Sea - English Channel
F Norway - North Sea
A Sevastopol - Armenia
A Silesia Supports A Tyrolia - Munich
F Skagerrak Supports A Sweden - Denmark
A Smyrna Hold
A Sweden - Denmark
F Tyrrhenian Sea - Tunis (*Dislodged*)

Which looks like this:

And means the map now looks like this:

There are three retreats to handle before we can go to builds and they are as follows:

English F Denmark can retreat to Helgoland Bight or Baltic Sea or it may disband.
German A Munich can retreat to Burgundy or it may disband.
Russian F Tyrrhenian Sea can retreat to Tuscany or it may disband.

Get those to me ASAP and we'll head to builds.

Retreats are done so now we are on to builds. The post retreat map looks like this:

And builds are as follows.

Happy Faces:
Austria:   Supp 10 Unit  9 Build  1
France:    Supp  7 Unit  6 Build  1
Russia:    Supp 12 Unit 11 Build  1

Sad Faces:
Germany:   Supp  2 Unit  3 Remove  1
England:   Supp  3 Unit  5 Remove  2

As you can see, there's a close race at the top with Russia about two-thirds of the way to a solo victory and Austria close behind. France is trailing a little but can still be considered a contender. Germany and England are not in good shape and their survival is on shaky ground. Perhaps a phoenix-like resurrection is waiting or maybe a final blaze of glory before the inevitable night.

Get those builds to me as quick as you can and then we can go on to 1909.

Ok builds are in; new fleets steam out of Brest and Trieste and a new army appears in St Petersburg. On the other side of the coin, the English fleet in the Baltic Sea along with the army in Ruhr and the German garrison in Berlin slink into the night never to be seen again.

The map looks like this:

It's time to party like it's 1909 so get your orders for the spring turn to me no later than Midnight GMT on Wednesday 11th May.

It's a braaaaave new woooooorld!

Austria:
A Apulia Supports F Tyrrhenian Sea - Naples
A Bohemia Supports A Munich - Silesia
A Greece - Bulgaria
F Ionian Sea Supports F Tyrrhenian Sea - Naples
A Munich - Silesia
A Piedmont - Tuscany
A Rome Supports A Piedmont - Tuscany
A Serbia - Rumania
F Trieste - Albania
A Venice - Tyrolia

England:
A Holland Supports A Belgium
A Liverpool - Clyde (*Bounce*)
F London Hold

France:
F Aegean Sea - Constantinople (*Bounce*)
A Belgium Supports A Holland
F Brest - Mid-Atlantic Ocean (*Bounce*)
F Gulf of Lyon Supports A Piedmont - Tuscany
A Marseilles - Gascony
F Tunis - Western Mediterranean
F Tyrrhenian Sea - Naples

Germany:
A Burgundy - Paris
A Kiel - Berlin (*Bounce*)

Russia:
A Armenia - Smyrna (*Fails*)
A Denmark - Edinburgh (*Fails*)
F Edinburgh - Clyde (*Bounce*)
F English Channel - Mid-Atlantic Ocean (*Bounce*)
F Naples, no move received (*Disbanded*)
F North Sea Convoys A Denmark - Edinburgh
A Prussia - Berlin (*Bounce*)
A Silesia Supports A Bohemia - Munich (*Dislodged*)
F Skagerrak - Denmark (*Fails*)
A Smyrna - Constantinople (*Bounce*)
A St Petersburg - Norway
F Tuscany - Gulf of Lyon (*Dislodged*)

Which looks like this:

And results in this:

We have two retreats before the Fall turn, both of which are Russian.

A Silesia can retreat to Warsaw or Galicia or it may disband.
F Tuscany can retreat to Tyrrhenian Sea or it may disband.

Send me those as soon as you can and we can get on with the Fall turn.

Orders are in so here's the damage.

Austria:
F Albania - Greece
A Apulia - Venice
A Bohemia - Munich (*Bounce*)
A Bulgaria - Constantinople
F Ionian Sea - Eastern Mediterranean
A Rome Supports A Tuscany
A Rumania - Budapest
A Silesia - Galicia
A Tuscany Supports A Rome
A Tyrolia - Vienna

England:
A Holland Supports A Belgium (*Ordered to Move*)
A Liverpool - Edinburgh (*Fails*)
F London Hold (*Dislodged*)

France:
F Aegean Sea Supports A Bulgaria - Constantinople
A Belgium - Burgundy
F Brest Supports F Western Mediterranean - Mid-Atlantic Ocean (*Cut*)
A Gascony Supports A Belgium - Burgundy
F Gulf of Lyon - Western Mediterranean
F Naples Hold
F Western Mediterranean - Mid-Atlantic Ocean

Germany:
A Kiel - Munich (*Bounce*)
A Paris - Brest (*Fails*)

Russia:
A Armenia - Sevastopol
A Denmark Hold
F Edinburgh Hold
F English Channel - London
A Galicia - Rumania
F North Sea Supports F English Channel - London
A Norway - St Petersburg
A Prussia - Warsaw
F Skagerrak Hold
A Smyrna - Constantinople (*Fails*)

Which results in:

We have one retreat, from England:
Fleet in  London can retreat to Yorkshire or Wales or it can disband.

Please get that retreat to me as soon as you can and we can then head to the builds.

Regardless of the English retreat, builds will look like this:

Austria:   Supp 10 Unit 10 Build  0
England:   Supp  2 Unit  3 Remove  1 (assuming the fleet retreats, if it disbands then there are no English adjustments to make).
France:    Supp  7 Unit  7 Build  0
Germany:   Supp  3 Unit  2 Build  1
Russia:    Supp 12 Unit 10 Build  1

Still a very close race between Austria and Russia with France still very much in contention. Germany is clawing back some ground but is a long way behind the rest and England is in very poor shape.

The London fleet negotiates an honourable surrender and spends Christmas learning to like Tchaikovsky.

Builds are confirmed then as follows:

Austria:   Supp 10 Unit 10 Build  0
England:   Supp  2 Unit  2 Build  0
France:    Supp  7 Unit  7 Build  0
Germany:   Supp  3 Unit  2 Build  1
Russia:    Supp 12 Unit 10 Build  1

Amazingly while I was writing this update both builds were submitted so here is the map going into 1910. New armies appear in Moscow and Berlin.

Next up is the spring 1910 turn then, orders for which are due by Midnight GMT on Thursday 19th May.

Orders are all in and on time even!

Here then are the results of all your intrigue. England submitted orders incidentally, they clearly decided to see if staying absolutely still might help:

Austria:
A Bohemia - Silesia
A Budapest - Serbia
A Constantinople - Ankara
F Eastern Mediterranean Supports F Aegean Sea - Smyrna
A Galicia Supports A Bohemia - Silesia
F Greece - Bulgaria(sc) (*Bounce*)
A Rome Hold
A Tuscany - Venice
A Venice - Tyrolia
A Vienna - Budapest

England:
A Holland Hold
A Liverpool Hold

France:
F Aegean Sea - Smyrna
F Brest Supports F Mid-Atlantic Ocean - English Channel (*Cut*)
A Burgundy Supports A Gascony - Paris
A Gascony - Paris
F Mid-Atlantic Ocean - English Channel (*Bounce*)
F Naples Hold
F Western Mediterranean - Mid-Atlantic Ocean (*Fails*)

Germany:
A Berlin - Munich
A Kiel Supports A Berlin - Munich
A Paris - Brest (*Dislodged*)

Russia:
A Denmark - Yorkshire
F Edinburgh - Clyde
F London - English Channel (*Bounce*)
A Moscow - Ukraine
F North Sea Convoys A Denmark - Yorkshire
A Rumania - Bulgaria (*Bounce*)
A Sevastopol Supports A Moscow - Ukraine
F Skagerrak - Denmark
A Smyrna - Constantinople
A St Petersburg - Moscow
A Warsaw - Silesia (*Fails*)

That results in one single retreat, the German army in Paris for which I already have a retreat order, it diverts to Picardy and we can move straight into the Fall turn.

Orders for Fall 1910 are due by Midnight GMT on Monday 23rd May

F North Sea Supports A Picardy - Belgium
A Rumania Supports A Constantinople - Bulgaria (*Cut*)

Amazingly there are no retreats so the map at the end of the year looks like this:

We go straight to builds which are as follows:

England:   Supp  2 Unit  2 Build  0
France:    Supp  8 Unit  7 Build  1

Here's the updated map

Orders for the Spring turn of 1911 are therefore due by Midnight GMT on Friday 27th May.
