Weapon Choices for Sisters Squads
« on: September 14, 2002, 08:45:15 PM »
Do you guys split your weaponry and take 1 flamer and 1 meltagun, or specialize squads with 2 flamers or 2 meltaguns?

I'm leaning towards the more versatile 1 flamer 1 meltagun mix, as 1 flamer will still do for a bunch of most infantry, and a meltagun gives ALL my squads some anti-tank power.

I hear the best loadout for Retributors is 4 Heavy Bolters and a Priest for Divine Guidance.  Evil, eh?

On another note, does anyone out there actually use Multimeltas?  Stupid, stupid, suck weapons.

The only remotely viable use for them that I've heard about is two 5-person Celestian squads w/ MM to act as "speedbumps" for a Rhino-rush (or other armored assault variant) army.

For a general army list, the split would seem the best. It offers versitality. Many people discount the noble flamer, and that is a grave error.

As far as multimeltas, I have seen them used to great effect. Against any army with armor, they are a huge threat. I've watched IG armored companies take massive hurt from an SOB army loaded with MMs. Granted, against a well diversified army, the multimeltas will be less useful than other high powered, high cost weapons.

I don't like multi-meltas except in situations where the enemy attacks. But in general I feel that 24" is really a too short range for a heavy weapon...especially if it's a melta(whose advantage only comes into its own right within 12").
Ofcourse they CAN be mounted on a viechle....but I don't feel that the Immolator has sufficiently thick armor for that.

As for squad weapons. I tend to specialise. Most squads have flamers while certain squads have meltas.
I just feel that if go average you will have a problem. If you hunt tanks you waste every shot but the melta. It's acceptable when you have two meltas but not with just 1.

+++Excerpt from Last Chaos/Space marine game, commentator: Inquisitor Khalheed "The Purgator" Qhor, Ex-Deathball player+++

Chaos vs Space Marine grudgematch today ended 23-19 when Brother Grazieel decimated the chaos team with a heavy bolter.

Afterwards the Chaos Coach Zhuriel the Damned stated "If we weren't ideologically in favor of cheating we'd complain about this""

bolters, bolters, and sometimes a bolter or two.  regular squads are stand-and-shooters in my opinion.  the third best infantry gun(first before necrons and tau) and more hits than SMurfs(30 pts gives you two marines with 1 1/3 shots, 3 sisters have 1.5).  I leave the fancy stuff to dominions.  Multi-meltas should never be given to any kind of troops.
