Online retailers - warnings and praise
« on: May 29, 2005, 03:28:16 AM »
Table updated as of 2nd January 2017.

As inspired by this, this and this thread a comparable Good-bad-trader-list has been set up for online retailers. This way you can check out who has had dealings with who, and what their experiences have been.

Now, if the retailer you have had good/bad relations with allready appears on the list, please do not post if their score exceeds 5 in any direction. Only if the score is -4 - +4 is your post necessary. We need no more testimonials than that, and don't want to clutter the thread with useless "yeah, I like Neil too"-posts.

www.nugaming.com

I have had very good experience with www.nugaming.com (and personally I know others who have too). They only give 10% off, but do give free shipping, have no minimum order size, are Uk based (with a real postal address), packaging is excellent, they have been around since 2002 and read the terms and conditions- very reassuring. I don't have any connection with the site apart from being a satisfied customer. I cannot see myself shopping anywhere else for new stuff.

In addition to GW stuff, they carry a very full range of other wargaming stuff too.

Note, 10% off and free shipping is often cheaper than 20% off....

If you are feeling nice and go on to order from them, if you quote my email address I get a referral bonus from your first order. Ask and I will give you my email address. mods, if this is not allowed, I am sorry, just delete this last sentance

Can I just second SFS's comments.  Nick at nugaming is a top bloke, very friendly and helpful, he'll also try his best to get things he doesn't have in stock.  He's the best online dealer I've purchased from.

I've had positive dealing with www.nugaming.com on the lone occasion I've purchased from there.

And likewise positive dealings with www.maelstromgames. co.uk and http://www.jerseyonlinetraders.com/store/ on 2-3 occasions each.

Maelstrom are really good.
If you compare them to say, wargamesworkshop.co .uk:

WGW: Tyranid Battleforce = £42.80
Add on 10% for postage £4.28
Thats a total of £47.08

And Maelstrol: Tyranid Battle Force: £45
Free Postage
Thats a total of £45.

Easy really.

Thats a good point. And great when doing big orders, but (as with all online retailers) in small amounts (anything around £25, the discount isn't really worth the hassle most of the time)

If they sell things that GW do not then I'll definately be buying through them. I wonder if they sell clump foliage and charon skirmishpacks....

I do all my shopping with ScifiGenre.com, and they are great. Everything is 20% off, and you get free shipping with orders over $75.  Excellent customer service, I highly recommend these guys.

I've bought at most of those places and wargamesworkshop i great because they are fast, even thought they are based outa California.  But the best by far is thewarstore.com as Neal is the man.  I've talked to him personally and he takes great pride in helping people.  Completely courtious and prompt.  He sends your order out the first chance he gets and offers 20% off all warhammer and like stuff.  Go Neal!

Thumbs up to Combat Zone Entertainment (http://czentertainment.com/). Well packaged, good service. The only issue is that it seemed to take a while to arrive, but that's to be expected from out of the country.
Also, props to them for running the painting contest. :)

Really good store, pictures of every single item.  Also, he has some really good prices.  Shipping is a flat rate of $5.00, too.

If you have an ebay account the seller "bruces_collectables" online store has a discount of between 20-30%, and offers a pretty good shipping rate in the US.  If you buy a lot it's just $3.85 and the cover the rest.  They can even get you anything you want, that's still in production.  They also accept paypal (it was via ebay.).  Only thing I'm uncertain of is how long it takes to ship.  (just made purchase monday.) So I'll edit this post with shipping time when it arrives.  (not worried about it not arriving as I paid with paypal, and purchased their insurance.  So if it doesn't arrive, I'm fully refunded.)

Edit:  Package arrived a mere week after the payment was made.  (The shipping on the package was $3.85 as well so I saved over $10 if you count delivery confirmation.)  His track records seems to be as good as any online retailers.  Also he has a Store on ebay, not just an account.

Well, I am not sure we can add ebay-stores, as they alter names and disappear over night. THanks for the tip though. Warnings for ebay stores is far more valuable, I think.
