Not a detailed support, but some fun. 4000pts of SQUATS vs a massive marine force. On the Squat side was Leman Russ, Leman Russ Executioner, Basiliks, Baneblade, 2xGriffon, Thud Gunn squad, and assorted infantry, chimeras and bikes. The tanks were on the right flank on a forested hill along with 2xSentinal; the griffons and thud guns in the middle, and a dreadnought and thunderer (hv weapons squad) on the far left as a decoy. The Templars set up their entire force on my left (4 rhinos, 2 predators, 2 dreadnoughts, assault squad, VDR predator with battle cannon in centre), generic marine one in the middle (whirlwind, bike squad 4 infantry squads, 2 scout sniper squads) and the Ultramarines on my right (4 rhinos, deathwatch squad in rhino, dreadnought)). There was a large building complex in the middle along with other bits of cover on the left and right.
Turn 1:
A: Squats go first with ordnance fire and barrage. Whirlwind dies with Ordnance 6, Rhino with 10 marines dies with Ordnance 6, Rhino with decked out Death Watch dies with Ordnance 6. Templar dreadnought de-armed.
B: Limited Imperial return fire. Baneblade loses 3" of movement. A few infantry die. The thunderer squad on the far left takes a casualty (it was in cover). Templars and centre advance, Ultramarines try and scrape something together after first turn devastation.
Turn 2:
A: Squats pour more fire on the Ultramarines and tanks in the middle. Tanks stunned. Some infantry killed. Termite full of exo-armour hearthguard fails to arrive. Chimeras and bikes advance.
B: Imperial bike squad in middle advances and toasts bunker with autocannon thunderer squad. Out of charge range. Thunderer squad with missile launches on left forced to fall back. A couple more infantry die. One Thudd Gunn crew dies as crew now exposed behind ruins of bunker.
Turn 3:
A: Chimeras finish their advance. Command squad pours out and shoots up tactical squad and assaults predator in cover immobilizing it. Other chimera pours out squad with 2xmelta guns that toast Templar battle cannon tank. Mass fire paste one Ultramarine rhino and all survivors (trike multi-meltas pop the can, mass fire kills the survivors). Dreadnought assaults bike hoarde in centre and gets tied up for rest of game. Tempars continue advance. More tactical squads in middle get pasted by mass plasma/battle cannon fire.
B: Fire decimates command squad but Warlord survives. Templars finish off thunderer squad on far left. Send Emperor's Champion into the combat between the bikes and the dreadnought and the dreadnought turns and crushes the champion in a dreadnought power fist. Ultramarines charge bike squad.
Turn 4:
A: Sentinals charge into melee with ultramarines. Heavy trikes turn and advance towards surviving forces in the centre. Some Templars killed by fire. More marines in centre killed by fire. Termite finally arrives (VDR tunneller) and rolls a '2' for deviation and hits a submerged lava pocket and dies.
B: Templars finally charge into melee. Finish off Squad squad in centre, and advance into Thudd guns. Dreadnought continues hacking at bikes. Ultramarines and bikes/sentinals continue to fight. More tacticalmarines in centre bombed by ordnance shells.
Turn 5: [last turn - marines surrendered]
A: More fire at rapidly vanishing targets. Melees continue. Templars finish off Thudd gun team but end up in the open.
B: Templar survivors advance. Ultramarines die. Centre pretty well dead.
Comments. The marines screwed themselves during deployment; and the near destruction of the Ultramarine wing with ordnance sixes didn't help. They were defeated in isolation by my entire army.
