Nurgle's love of Blood Angels
« Reply #640 on: July 27, 2011, 10:55:46 AM »
Having been playing heavily against Ultramarines for the better part of the last two years and seeing all the talk of "how to beat Blood Angels" and "counts as Blood Angels" I thought Papa Nurgle might grant me some inspiration as I update my Deathguard list.  (And I found my rotary tool again :) )

Not finished yet, but getting close and I wanted to share

I love them! They have a nice color scheme that looks pretty fresh.

The modeling is also very good and I like the use of the venerable dreadnoughts.

Very nice, I really like the custom smoke stacks on the back.  The metal paint job looks really good too!  Now, if only it performed as well as it looks!  :P

Thanks  BT! But I know what you mean about performance, the damn thing in my last game just stumbled around and shot at my own rhinos.  :P

My fault for deploying it too far from the closest Space Wolf.

I've had pretty good success with my dreadnought in the last few games. Worked consistently 'sanely' and was shot at very little due to the pressure of my rhino mounted units. Nice looking dread there Overkill.

Speaking of which, here is my current Chaos Lord, Lord Witherfume. Also, my dreadnaught.

Very cool-looking conversion there on the Chaos Lord, Killersquid. Your style kind of reminds me of John Blanche's models but with twist of your own. :)

Any closer pictures of the Dreadknight-Dreadnought?

I appreciate the kind words about my Lord. I'm so proud of the way he's turned out, he has booted out Fabius Bile as my main HQ for now.

The Dreadnought is not based off of a Dreadknight, but an old Eldar Titan, plus a slew of random bits. Basically, a spare parts model.

And for scale.

He's known as Warpblind Deathvomit.

I really love your style of painting killersquid, its actually the reason why I'm going to repaint my nurgle with a lot of different, alternative colors for nurgle models.

Keep up the great work and bring us more!!!!!!!

Thank you. I tend to get bored with just painting everything the same way.

I've been working on adding additional details and 'sprucing up' the lesser daemons. I've been doing the same with the rest of the army, except Fabius Bile, as I really like how he turned out. I'm sure I posted a picture of him here before.

Quick edit. I painted my carrying case.

Night Lords Thunderhawk Gunship

This baby here brings my Night Lords Warband to a solid 4000 points.

It took a total of 4 months, with at least half that time spent on prep and construction. 21 pins in total, with 12 of those in the landing gears alone. The Turbolaser is magnetized, and the canopy is magnetized. The cargo bay opens and it is fully painted inside (but the pics my camera took were awful, so use your imagination).

I will hopefully go down to the store for a photo shoot of my whole army one of these days. It is totally painted, so I think it is time for some good pictures on sweet terrain.

Enjoy.

Dude, dryad..... That is a sweet model with an awesome paint job!  Did you name it Blackened like in Soul Hunter?  I'd be very interested to see some shots of the whole force.

Nah, Blackened is described as having the silhouette of a crow on it with big black feathery wings painted onto the wings of the ship. I will let Septimus drive that one...

This one is for my own Warband. It has "Nesasul" written on the scroll on the front hull, and that is the name of the leader of my Warband.

I promise I will get a whole army shot up soon. I just want to do it at the store on sweet terrain instead of on my kitchen table with "Dora the Explorer" fruit snacks as scenery.

That's amazing. How did you do the lightning effect? Was it an airbrush?

No airbrush. The lightning is done with a slow fade from a large drydrush of enchanted blue, to thinner drybrush lines mixing in ice blue. Finally, a very thin sharp line of white, letting my hand get shaky but keeping it thin.

Nice looking lesser demons Killersquid. They got a John Blanche feel to them.

@Dryad: Outstanding thunder hawk paint scheme. I really like the contrasts between the blues.

My Emperor's Children Warband are a work-in-progress (have been for a fair while now, actually), but some of the guys have been completed.

This is my HQ Tag Team:

and this is Doomrider. With any luck he might be revisited in the new Chaos Codex, whenever that eventually arrives.

Most of the rest of the army - about 4000pts-ish - is under way as a Noise Marine based list but the painting and building of the models will be taking a bit of a back seat for the moment so that I can get some other armies finished up.

Nice looking HQ's there. The flames on Doomriders base (and the rest of the painting in general) is quite nice!
