Actually, the Deceiver is the weakest of the C'tan, while the C'tan is one of the strongest. In other words, Nightbringer hands down.

Was a General of the Imperial Guard, now more of a freelance Captain sort of thing. Ish. Keeping the rank pins though, they look nice.

Deciever is actully the better. Nightbringer is scary yes, and is slightly better in HTH, but the deciever is all around better. Just went up against a necron player using the deciever, and damn did it hurt. He pinned a couple of my squads, and than he hopped around in HTH with his little 3d6 pull-out manouver, slaughtering everything around him. Had that been the Nightbringer, I could have laughed and thrown my sqauds of kroot at him, while I decimated his army..

Did you read the fluff in the Necron codex? The Deceiver trick the Nightbringer to eat the other C'Tan.  The Deceiver might be weaker than the Nightbringer in combat but what use is strength when the Deceiver can deceive the Nightbringer. Brains over brawns.

I dunno. I don't think its so cut and dried. IMO they're pretty evenly matched. The Nightbringer is and was the most powerful C'Tan, even though he lost a lot of his power after his "most potent" weapon was banished to the warp. But, while the Deceiver lacks the Nightbringer's brute strength, he certainly can make up for it with his special abilities, and he's still pretty decent in HtH.

So really its depends on what you want in your army. I usually would go with the Deceiver, his special abilities are more usuful to the generally CC-avoiding approch of the Necron army than the Nightbringer's godly HtH skills.

ok you know what?  im getting tired of this, so after i get done recording my high school football teams stats im gonna whip out my dice and my cron codex and prozxy 7 battles of deciever vs nightbringer, complete with rolling, then simulate 2 battles using pure odds with a 4+ D6 roll used for fractions.  ill post the results later.

RESULTS!
Dice Game 1: Nightbringer gets turn, shoot, charge.
Nightbringer wins with 2 wounds left.
Dice Game 2: Nightbringer gets turn, shoot, charge.
Nightbringer wins with 3 wounds left (bad rolling).
Dice Game 3: Nightbringer gets turn, shoot, charge.
Nightbringer wins with 4 wounds left (shooting wounded and 4/6 hits wounded).
Dice Game 4: Nightbringer gets turn, shoot, charge.
Nightbringer wins with 1 wound left.
Dice Game 5: Deciever gets turn, charge.
Nightbringer wins with 2 wounds left (1 round of combat with REALLY lucky dice for the NB).
Dice Game 6: Deciever gets turn, charge.
Nightbringer wins with 2 wounds left.
Dice game 7: Deciever gets turn, charge.
Deciever wins with 1 wound left (1 word for NB's roll... YAHTZEE! 1's)

SIMULATED GAMES
Simulated game 1: NB gets turn/shoot/charge.
NB wins with 3 wounds left
Simulated game 2: Deciever gets turn/shoot/charge.
NB wins with 2 wounds left.

NOTE: c'tan started 12" apart and the only ability being used was the NB's lascannon shot.
based on abilities alone, the deciever will kick the ass of the NB purely on the redeploy ability.  factor in the pin test and the leaving combat to charge in later, the NB's abilities are purely CC oriented, whereas the decievers abilities can be used against any army.

Nightbringer is actually far more fearsome, most other players will avoid him, he actually chases them around the board. Depending on what army/player you are playing. Deciever has some great abilities but remember you have them.

My Nightbringer always got hunted down by Rangers or wasnt close enough to affect the main battle after he ran off to kill something.
you'd think that all zombies are trained ninjas on meth that can scale walls and ceilings like Spiderman while wearing a pair of runningshoes.-Screwhead
