Nice! Yeah i'm fairly certain it's impossible to do something boring with Orks. I'd even happily watch a documentary of an Ork accountant ;)

The cool thing about orks, loud colors work so well. It's kinda cheating cause your opponent will be enthralled by the colors they won't be able to pay attention to the butt whooping your laying on them. Great stuff!

Hey Dread!
Yes, it's easy to underestimate the Orks. The Toons of 40K, the fun army, then WHACK!! A battle wagon of mushrooms are standing over you, collecting your teeth.

Glad you guys are still enjoying them. Here's the next one completed. He was hoping his camo scheme would help him sneak up on some of those greater good little blue fellas.

Oh yeah, so cool! I still have a bunch of orks to assemble but paint will be far down the road. Way too much other going on but if the new edition turns out to be good, well we'll see.

With everyone jibber-jabbering about all the 8th edition teasers, I thought everyone needed a break and looked at some new shiny painted models. I need to motor through these guys, so I can move onto the next project. I'm still hesitant to start in on the dark eldar army, as I really want to airbrush them and that thing still scares me. I did pick up some incubi and mandrakes on eBay though, so that might give me the push. Or I can keep working on the orks and put together my new battlewagon and paint up the mega nobz that I stripped down a few years ago and have been begging for some paint. So what will it be; plunge into the dark brothers or keep on krumping?

Oh, and here's some koptas.

They look amazing, Dog of War! Again; different but tie in with one another. If I had to choose, I really like the green one. Don't be afraid of the airbrush, mate. practice on some funky models you don't give a hoot about. You won't simultaneously combust into flames if you make a mistake... Happy painting!

Looking sweet DoW. Again the camo pattern is great and so is the weathering. The chipping on the green copter looks really good. But the purple one is a real standout... didn't expect you to one in purple, but it looks great.

Yeah the airbrush is intimidating. It takes time to learn how to use properly. But you I do highly reccomend learning how to use it. While it can be frustrating at times it makes hobbying so much easier. Don't get me wrong I basically use it for only base coating, but my Eldar and my commission painted armies wouldn't be possible without it. Like Saim-Dann said just test it on some crap models before you start basecoating stuff and you'll be fine.

Just make sure you thin down your paints, clean your airbrush thoughouly and you'll be fine.  ;)

Sweet 'copters! These guys will look great together in a mishmash of colours :) i really like the subtle weathering too. Really sets them off nicely :)

As for Orks or True Kin that's a tough decision!

Why not both ;)

Ok! This is my bad. Have been commenting on your copters all this time and not on the pilots. Just had a closer look then and... WOW! The detail with the flesh and the teeth. Did they take more time than the copter?

Thanks for the replies guys.

@Saim-dann, the pilots actually were pretty simple. I based them with Knarloc Green and highlight with some old Goblin Green and then just shade with Camoshade, usually two coats. The teeth I've been using my new favourite colour, Pallid Wych Flesh. The browns are just alternating Baneblade Brown and Karak Stone and then wash with Agrax Earthshade. I kept them pretty simple to allow for batch painting. As I get bored with one kopta paint scheme, I go back and pick up some metal highlights or paint the goggles blue.

I think I'm going to dive deep into the dark kin after these koptas are finished, as I'm running into some ork fatigue. Number seven is finished. Only three more to go.

Checkers pattern isn't easy to pull off. Well done, DoW! Looking forward to seeing all of them done and on display.

I really like the colors on this one. I'm half way thru building my Gorkanought and haven't figured colors out. You're helping me tremendously. Keep 'em coming.

Niiiiice. Another great addition to the squadron. Love the colors and the checkers are awesome. Again the rust effects are rocking. Everything has a really crisp application while still feeling suitably gritty. Killer work as always DoW. Keep it up!

That's a really cool copter DoW! You very rarely see Teal as a main colour for any unit, let alone an Ork unit. I think it works brilliantly, just close enough to the Ork skin to compliment it, whilst still being a jarring deviation from the overall colour scheme.

Really great work, I can't wait to see what you have in mind for your Dark Eldar.

The color of the last Kopta you posted is my favorite so far, Dog_of_War.  They all look awesome.  Bu like Looshkin said, the color compliments the Ork skin very well.
