HeroQuest Returns
« on: December 31, 2021, 11:08:06 AM »
HeroQuest Game System – Hasbro Pulse - UK

HeroQuest is making a welcome return courtesy of Hasbro.  It's the same game as previously, albeit for those of us in the UK based off the US 1990 rules, rather than the UK 1989 rules (there were some minor differences).  The new figures have much more dynamic poses and the furniture and doors have been significantly modernised.

I found this review interesting and informative: Why You Should Buy HeroQuest | Unboxing and Review - YouTube.  There are also plenty of others to choose from, but they are all mainly positive.  The only downside is the price, at least for the UK pre-order, is pretty high.  Zargon's Twitter account is pretty entertaining as well: https://twitter.com/heroquest?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor for those who like to keep updated that way.

So, who is going to get it?  I am sorely tempted to.  My 1989 version is still in excellent condition, but the new models, tougher monsters, and new artwork are all difficult to resist.

I'm sorely tempted to buy it. Heroquest consumed a lot of lunchtimes at school, squirrelled away in the games room with 4 mates.

I think I might wait a couple of years, though, until Dylan is old enough to play and enjoy it. I'd love to have a good nostalgia kick with the little man along for the ride.

I've never played but, but I did watch a youtube review of it called "Why HeroQuest is so great" by Bardicbroadcasts which made it sound quite charming

Bardicbroadcast is great, and yeah, I watched the same vid, never played the game itself. XD

I forgot to post an update about this earlier, but I have now seen that it is available to purchase.  It costs £99 though, which is an awful lot of money.  I cannot justify such a cost right now, unfortunately, but it still is a purchase that I would like to make.  I've taken a look at more of the artwork online and it does look very impressive.
