What's with the Christians and white Marines?  My brother loves the Jesus and has white and gold Marines, too.  Are you guys in a secret club or something?

None of them are painted yet. I'll have to wait for warmer weather before I paint (I don't want pink models).

EDIT:Note-All the Models are from the AoBR set. At this point, none are conversions of any kind.

EDIT #2: Updated on 1-13-09. I got them and some others painted up.

@Yeunglingdragon:  It is a club, but it's not secret.  ;)

I began playing when my oldest son was 10 years old.  I thought the dark fluff was a bit too depressing for him at that age, so we invented some fluff for our Marine Chapter that made us the ultimate 'good guys' in such a grim future devoid of hope.

@Strikeforce_commander:  Those are some good builds and konversions.  Nice job.
Edit:  Well, you've posed them well.   :)  NH

@Heimdall:  That's a very nice paint job you've done on your models.  Congrats on having such a quality-looking force to place on the tabletop.

Ultramarines!

I will take some better photos after Christmas and probably show my more recent work off in the Painting thread.  In the mean time, enjoy, and feel free to leave any criticism or comments.  The first photos are the most recent, going back from August to around February 2008.

They look great.  Excellent job with the flames.  I hope I can do as well when I start painting flames on my Marines shoulder pads.

You know, I think my least favorite part of these boards is seeing how much better at painting everyone else is, despite me being in the hobby for over 15 years.  I know so much more about everything else except painting.  :-\

Not quite, back when I believed I still painted mine Dark Angel Green.

About time I saw some damage on the UltraSMurfs, very nicely done!

@Eek 107 - your salamanders look fantastic, you should be proud. I'd like to see you paint some armor.

@Arkion - I love your Ultramarines. That's exactly what I would expect them to look like in the middle of a campaign.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. :)

@Lucky_Jackal: Which head?  The first is from the Tactical Squad box IIRC, the second is in the Devastator box.

@Max Power: You're in luck, there's a tank on my painting table right now. :)

Hey there,

I normally post on the IG boards, but as I have very recently started a couple of Space marine Armies I thought I'd throw my hat in and stick up some pics.

I hope it's Ok to post work in progress stuff.

Anyway here's the start of my Black Templars:

(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi240.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff258%2Fgeekfilth%2F40k025-1.jpg&hash=3fed4e4cfdf79cff437a201867eeada5145de792)
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi240.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff258%2Fgeekfilth%2FPicture_018-1.jpg&hash=692629fba192725b7540998e36936371c30b3412)
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi240.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff258%2Fgeekfilth%2FNeophtye4.jpg&hash=2967f1bb11047ae959ae1a3dac2da84c33cb3889)

And my Ultramarines:

(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi240.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff258%2Fgeekfilth%2Fscouts005-1.jpg&hash=ec0c56a3389342255ccaea6f9bac9dff6985a35c)
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi240.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff258%2Fgeekfilth%2FNewImage.jpg&hash=f8da40d05f55f39cc1331217193ffb81c7823942)

Obviously still along way to go, neither one is actually an army yet, but I am painting the Ultramarines as part of a Tale of Four gamers challenge running in the Projects Board, and so I should have 1500 points completed at the end of July.

First, thank you all for the compliments!

Eek, those Salamanders are top notch, and Chris, your Ultramarines have a very classic feel, like the kind of marines you'd see in the Codex itself.  I'm a big fan of your Cadian 8th, also.

Vaughn, you pulled off orange and black without making me think immediately of Halloween.  Well done!  I especially like the diagonal bar across the Dreadnought.  Any reason why you named your chapter "Vaughn?"

I was at sea when I started my venture into 40K with moc065. My original plan was to get a tiger pattern going. However through some carefull research in some bad attempts by others. Not by Heimdall he did it quite well I think, I turned away. Not to mention my experience painting was quite futile to try let alone my patience.

Anyway back to your question as to why I named my chapter "Vaughn". Orange happened to be my son's favorite colour. His middle name is also ...
Vaughn ... and since he was quite drawn to my Gundams and Robotech, I had a feeling he would be more then excited to see the mini army guys. Hence his addiction to bond with Dad with 40K Space marines now too... Much to his Mom's cringing dislike. LOL Expense wise anyway.

So that is how the Vaughn Chapter came to be. Glad you liked it.

I have a second dread I am readying to paint now, more then likly similar in scheme however a opposite diagnal to differ the two.

As I finish the rest of my army, scouts, assault termies, another tac squad, a dread and another captain I will be posting the pics again. The termies however are going to be unique. I just hope it works.

Cheers

Cheers Eek, I'm pretty pleased with how they've turned out, and am glad they feel "Codexey" as that was the look I was after. And cheers for the comment about my Cadians, I miss painting them but I'm waiting for the new Codex before I do any more.

As I have been painting up some more Ultramarines I thought I would stick a couple of pics up.

These guys aren't quite finished yet but as I had the camera this week I thought I'd get some work in progess shots.

5 man Ultramarines Tactical Squad:

Along with my scouts this will make up the first 250 points of my army. I still have to finish the Rhino and glue on the boltguns, but they're nearly there.

Have you ever tried for 'Eavy Metal Chris?

And I recognise you - I saw you at GD.

Hey Raktra,

I have thought about applying for a position with 'Eavy Metal once or twice but decided that unfortunately although it would be a dream job it just doesn't pay enough.

It's a sad fact that Games Workshop is a fantatstic employer (despite what many people may think I worked for them for a very long time and they were a great employer who taught me loads) but they pay very low wages.

Plus I think you have to relocate to Nottingham which at this point in my life isn't a possibility, but I'm not ruling it out altogether.

I'm chuffed that you think I'd be in with a shot though, and I'd love to see if they'd have me just to learn how to paint more quickly if nothing else!

And as for recognising me yes I do get around a bit and my hair kind of gives me away!  ;D

Next time you see me come and say hi, it would be great to meet fellow 40KOnliners (is that word....)

Cheers!  :)

Hey guys, there is some lovely stuff on here! I love those Salamanders Eek, and its good to see some Space Wolf love too! And all those Ultras, makes me want a Thunderhawk, must resist....

Well my own Ultramarines army is progressing, so I thought I would post some pics of my new stuff. These are still very much Painting in Progress, but they are close enough to completion to show.

a brown wash on the skulls and scrolls would make a great change, and start practising drybrushing it is a great way to make a miniature look like it i painted very well (i use it a lot, i suck at highlighting)

do i see warmachine parts? heresy and blasphemy! ;D

Haha, and we're all so polite here, not spamming the compliments we're all thinking and making this into a 465-page long thread with 10 pics.  Good netiquette, but I think we can give these people some more applause, amirite? =)

Hi,
After playing fantasy for years I bought my first 40K models last week after reading a 40K battle report with space marines in an old White Dwarf. I liked the look of the SMs and now am starting an army.

Here's what I've painted in the last 8 days or so:

<img src="http://www.40konline.com/MGalleryItem.php?id=3362" alt="" />
<img src="http://www.40konline.com/MGalleryItem.php?id=3363" alt="" />
<img src="http://www.40konline.com/MGalleryItem.php?id=3364" alt="" />
<img src="http://www.40konline.com/MGalleryItem.php?id=3365" alt="" />

I still have to finish the shoulder pads but I'm waiting for the Codex I ordered to see what numbers and symbols they need. Also ordered the AobR box so I'll have enough to paint the next weeks. Hope to have a 500p army finished in a month or so.

Hope you like 'em.

Wow, Chris Parsons models look really good! 'Eavy Metal quality imo.

Here's my first 40k vehicle, a SMurf Rhino. I managed to make the arrow really precise with some tape  8)
Can anyone tell me how to paint battle damage?

Cheers Artcore you are a star. Your Marines are looking great, always nice to see more Ultras!

And I really like your Rhino, good job on the Tactical Arrow on top, I hated painting mine. I didn't think to use tape, I drew mine on in pencil with a ruler, but may try tape next time as I have another couple of Rhinos to do.

As for weathering I tend not to do too much on my vehicles as its very easy to go over the top, but a little bit here and there never hurts.

For my battle damage I apply a darker shade of my main colour to areas I feel would be most likely to get chipped, such as corners or areas close to the ground. Around hinges or regularly used parts also makes sense.

This darker shade (in the case of my Ultras I used Regal Blue) represents the tanks primer, which is normally painted on before the vehicle itself is sprayed. However a lot of people also use  grey for this (codex grey would be good) as a lot of vehicled in real life are grey primed.

Once all this is done I then repaint some of these areas in boltgun metal to represent damage which has gone right through to the metal work. I then apply a bit of Badab Black over this to blend it all in and tone down the metallic. I swear by Badab Black over Boltgun metal, it makes painting metallic areas really easy.

For rust I stipple areas in scorched brown and then re stipple in Bestial Brown as this is a nice orangey brown.

And for mud and dust I lightly drybrush areas in graveyard earth and scorched brown. Dried mud tends to be a lighter colour so I use Graveyard earth for this, and fresh mud is a bit darker so for this I use Scorched brown (although you should mix a bit of the two together to give a more graduated finish).

Hope that helps. You could also buy some weathering sticks (My mate uses tamiya ones which seem ok) or some weathering pigments (MIG Pigments are best) which you should be able to buy from a good model shop.

OK so I have also been painting more Ultras, but have unfortunately fallen a bit behind so only have an almost cpmpleted assault Squad to show.

Again apologies for a WIP photo, I promise to get some new pics when I have the camera again.

(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi240.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff258%2Fgeekfilth%2FDSC00426.jpg&hash=6b2a3e4875b7756de3690bec24d9a835309333f2)
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi240.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff258%2Fgeekfilth%2FDSC00423.jpg&hash=d125a522a3308a486bc194074d35a647d155c275)

These are about 90% finished, but I need to go back and sort out a couple of bits as I feel like I rushed these. But I am very happy with them nevertheless, but never want to paint another Jump Pack for as long as I live, I don't know why but I just didn't enjoy them.

Cheers for looking.  ;D

That, despite the fool's chapter it comes from, is a beautifully done model.

The rhino looks great. Did you use tape this time to make the arrow so neat?

Quote
I've just got to get rid of the shiny decals, but that should be easy enough once I get some varnish on.

I've got the same problem. Are you saying they stop shining when you varnish the model? What varnish is good?

A spray-on Krylon sealant is good for dimming decals, as is any satin varnish.  Vallejo makes a great matte varnish that I use on all my models.

Speaking of my models, I've put up a gallery in the Painting Forum.  Here's a link! Ultramarines 3rd Co. (http://www.40konline.com/index.php?topic=184667.0)

And by-the-by, gorgeous work Chris!

Lookin' ace, I really like the base, is that slate you've put on it?

And the flamer looks lovely, nice metallics!

Just a quick question, are you using the knee and backpack markings to denote squads ?

I may steal the idea and do one knee.

Post by: Artcore on June 19, 2009, 01:53:51 PM
Thanks Chris, I'm really glad you like the basing because I really felt something had to be changed about the way I did my bases.  used a little stone. I bought it at my lgs but can't tell you the brand 'cause I'm not at home. They look good after drybrushing and stuff.
The metal is boltgun metal and black wash. You use the same right?

??? What do you mean? I use red for all my SM's knees and backpack exhausts if that's what you mean?

Veeeery nice. painting is great: nice straight chevrons on the chainswrods and the weathering looks very well done.
I assume the last model is a Librarian? Very sweet conversion.
Who is that Glaive/force weapon stolen from? Doesn't look greyknight to me, but then I could be wrong!

Thank you. It is a librarian , and the weapon is a bit of a mix. The arm and bottom half at from the standard , the top bit is a power axe with the blade removed and a Skaven blade added, with bits of wire here and there.

Really nice painting deusmex! Wow, those models look great! The red looks really deep and realistic and the overall shading and highlights look wonderful. Is the banner totally free hand? It's so precise.

If I may; one thing I don't really like is the green you use for the bases. A darker tone of green or brown would be more realistic imo.

You used a big base for the liby right? Is he wearing terminator armor?

The banner isnt free hand, as my art skills suck at best. I got the lettering from the marines transfer sheet and the symbol is a dark angels transfer painted black with a tear drop painted on it.

As for the bases I like my characters on big bases, I know this means he isnt tournament legal and if any opponent objects, I have a stand in model on a normal base.  I used Goblin green on the edge just to give it a little variation, I normally go for Brown or plain black.

Thank you all for the kind comments.

Well I've finally got how to post pictures on this site, and felt it was time to show my own army off. I call them the Neo Templars, But i just use the Black Templar codex. When playing. As with all armies there are a few models that are still works in progress, and the Dreadnought I bought off ebay. The rest is all my work. Iv'e only been playing for three years, and painting for less than half that time.

(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi784.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fyy125%2FDraggo_Blacksun%2FMy%2520Army%2F100_1579.jpg&hash=a58a31ba0d8898933c991ad88fc18d218d232570)

(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi784.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fyy125%2FDraggo_Blacksun%2FMy%2520Army%2F100_1580.jpg&hash=4bc6fcffe38f01d3c0b5340092b4ca98850419a3)

I have even dared to mod some of the models, (the dread and one rhino) but only slightly. The mod on the dreadnought is a stripe of yellow paint down its back. A joke between my friends and myself. Long story......, short version My dreadnought tactically withdrew from a potentailly bad situation. And of cousre my friends made the comment that they've never seen a dreadnought with a yellow stripe down its back (before i painted it on). So to shut them up I painted one on it. I'm going to have to repaint it though. In a tournament that dreadnought killed half a fire dragon sqd, and two wave serpents. One in CC. In the one match.

Howdy all, first post heh :D

Just started a few weeks ago with the Black Reach set and a tactical squad. Here are the first 3 Space Marines, hopefully I'll have some more pieces to post in the future.

(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi110.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fn94%2Fmahowes85%2Fnice3.jpg&hash=caa19e2ae86049d211bc5c17625fb272cc69bf1a)

I'm designing my own chapter, which has proved to be quite a bit of fun. Haven't actually played any games yet, but hopefully that is even better than theorizing and painting haha.

Sweet work, Tragik, they're very nice. What base colour do you think you're going to run with?

Post by: Tragik on March 19, 2010, 02:15:43 AM
Hey thanks, I've seen some of your troops, they look amazing.

I hadn't thought much about bases! I'm going for a city liberation force theme, so maybe I'll do black gravel and put some lane markers or broken road slabs on the bigger models, haha. I really like how static grass looks, so I kinda want to use that some too.

Do you have any suggestions for what would work with the color scheme? I played a little Warhammer Fantasy back when I was in high school but never strayed from the goblin green / flock bases. I'm quite a bit older now, and my hand is steadier, so I thought I'd try to make everything look as nice as possible haha.

In terms of simple colour theory, dark bases would be a bad idea. There's no contrast between grey armour and grey bases, so from a distance they just look like blobs. Ideally, you would use a sandy brown or something similar, proving contrast to your rather dark heraldry.

I agree with Khemri that the greys might be a bad idea. But I do like the idea of urban rubble on the bases. A second consideration would be a brown, like Devlan Mud or Khemri brown, with sand and bits of rubble, ala - Dark Angels basing. I always find that preferable to grass.

Hey Tragik, welcome to 40Konline and the Space Marine cult :)

Your models look awesome! I like the shoulder pads and the armor highlights. Good pictures too!

Quote
I played a little Warhammer Fantasy back when I was in high school but never strayed from the goblin green / flock bases. I'm quite a bit older now, and my hand is steadier, so I thought I'd try to make everything look as nice as possible haha.

That's very recognizable  ;D when I see some of my old fantasy models I can't believe I did the bases like that!
Basing is actually very important for the look of your models. The level of your painting deserves some good basing. You're right about avoiding dark basing because you need some contrast with the grey. But if you wanna go for a city look that's a bit difficult. You could make it a very bright, clean, marble city with very light colored streets.
You could also consider doing a bit different themes of basing for each squad; but not too different to it's still coherent.

Good luck! Hope to see your future posts on your painting, fluff and army lists!

Figured I'd post a picture to show what the bases are looking like since I got so many nice suggestions.

Camera switched from a Canon to the Droid camera, so the quality isn't great, but I think the general idea is there, haha.

I'm working up the confidence to put some weathering effects on the Dread :P Anyways thanks again for the ideas and motivation!

Nice marines Tragik!

Do you have a small drill or know someone who does? The MultiMelta would look much better with the barrels drilled out.

Post by: The Reborn on March 29, 2010, 07:43:02 AM
Yeah, always drill-out your guns, from bolters to MMs.....you can never get either a perfectly round painted hole for the barrel or a deep enough dark.  Drilling them out helps with both!
You've made a lovely job of the high-lighting, very steady hand you have there my friend!!  If I might make one constructive criticism?  I don't think the bases match-up to the models.  They look a little bland somehow.....the colours a little washed-out maybe....I don't know what to suggest to rectify this, but it needs something to set-off your lovely painting.

Maybe rock and ice?  Desert yellow?  Artcore will have some ideas, he's good at that stuff!

:) Thanks Vulkan!

So now I should have some great ideas? 0)

The bases seem a bit too light imo. You could go the opposite way by going for really dark bases but I don't think you want that.

To stay close to your look but add more depth you could basecoat the sand with a darker color like Scorched Brown and drybrush your way up to the lighter color you have now. And I'd suggest to paint the vertical 'rim' of the bases in a darker tone. The Granite foundation paint is maybe nice for you too.

Hmm sounds good, I'll give it a shot with some new colors and maybe bigger rubble on one of the Marines I haven't based yet and do a comparison.

I don't have a drill, but will definitely get one. Do you suggest a manual drill or something motorized?

Manual, GW pinvice is a good purchase Tragik.  Use your scalpel blade to make a small centrally-placed pit in the barrel to be drilled.  This acts as a guide for getting the hole central.  Good luck.

Fantastic painting, minor posing issue. You should have probably gone for the gun down, the scanner up, and the head looking around. Right now he looks like he's forgotten he's on sentry duty and is reading something scrawled on the back of his rifle ;)

The painting, though, is superb. And the bases turned out well. Much better than the cringe worthy goblin green bases we all thought were cool about 10 years ago.

Thanks !

Well for the yellow :

- White Basecoat
- Airbrushed Iyanden Darksun
- Dark Flesh Wash, taking off the excess before it dries
- DryBrush Iyanden Darksun to get all the yellow uniform,
- Dry Vallejo Pigments 73108 was applied in the "darker" spots
- Highlight 50% Iyanden Darksun / 50% white

Voilà ! Hope it helps !

Looking good Heir of Dorn  8). I like the way you did the camo.

If you are open to sugggestions, I would only suggest that you tone down the yellow in the camo some with like a wash of devlan mud or something (I don't work with yellow much so if a better wash would work, go with that one.) because I think it stands out too much in a camo scheme. Also, I think if you and apply a wash of devland mud or baal red to the eagle to deepen shading it would look better as well.

Anyway, not trying to throw rain on your parade. I think they are looking really cool, I just think those few things could make them look even better.

Mm, thanks for the advice! However, both the eagle and the yellow parts are washed twice with Badab Black wash... Hmm, I have 5 more scouts so I guess I'll try it out next time ;)

Anyway, the yellow parts is there because they are Imperial Fists, and I want to pay some homage to the chapter while still doing the camo bit. I love your scouts, and Telion, but I think it's a bit silly not to camo paint them. And I'm not trying to be rude or anything, couldn't find a better word.

Then again, they're bolter scouts. Not as sneaky, eh? :) You could probably do with a few highlights on the blue parts, but they are way above most tabletop-quality models I've seen. Keep it up bro!

Hi, I agree. It is silly to have Scouts without camo. Every soldier especially Scouts want to be as much invisible as possible... in a real war...

But this is W40K world and as I read somewhere The SM keep their chapter colors on to show that we are what we are.. the finest among all, the Space Marines. But I agree that it is silly not to cover resp. use camo.

Well, I am also sure that Scouts are not idiots, so they probably make own self-made camo (mud, leaves, etc.). I try to equip each Scout with Camo Cloak to represent...  ;) camo... (you know, there are some camo cloaks in packed form on the sprue.

Highlights, I don like it, I prefer dark dirty Scout without light and shinning part of painting. A lot of players told me to do HLS. May be next time. But thnx for Telion and Scouts comment.

Looking back at your scouts, I guess the red eagle was shaded just fine, maybe the highlight didn't show up well in the picture or you need a starker edge highlight. Anyway, the yellow makes sense now because they are Emp fists. I'm sure the yellow wouldn't really stand out at all once accompanied by the rest of your army (because all of the models would then tie into each other), so I don't know if you really need to tone it done with that in mind. But anyway, its up to you.

Hopefully I'm being helpful, I'm just trying to give advice from my limited pool of painting knowledge. So take my advice with a grain of salt.

lol my scouts won't have camo either, they are going to have green armour, bleached bone cloth, and a white left shoulder pad and bandanna. I guess I see it like rybnik. In reality everything in the game should be camoed to fit the terrain. but its not  ::)

@rybnik your scout look really good, I would just reiterate the need to highlight the blue some.

There is only one chance, guys! Let's buy beer-keg, meet at one's garage  and we can discuss colors, highlights and other W40K stuff.  ;D (don't tell anybody but i probably can not do highlights  ;D ;D ;D )

Ok, does your chapter have any fluff? What Codex do you use?

Well,  The best thing is when a player is trying to get Full Paint. It is really strange to play against gray plastic army. Respect to your trying. Honestly you need to improve your painting skills. Keep working, progress will come!  ;) Get more info about dry brushing, washing, etc. Use fine detail brush etc. As I said better to paint as good as you can than play gray only miniatures. :) Keep working.

Yeah, i've written a whole back ground to them, fluff'd them out (one of the best parts of making a custom chapter!), and i use C:SM.

Once upon a time I realized that i know only one color... Ultramarines Blue (wel... I use Mordian Blue exactly). I decided to create own chapter too. I was googling, reading, asking how to write fluff, what mistakes and cliches could happen. I left the idea of own chapter... Later then I found some chapters which are not so known. And I decided to animate my Ultramarines  by adding a codex chapter. The Silver Skulls! This chapter and Ultramarines have that kind of fluff which allows me to play both chapters in one army (roster). Read The Zeist Campaign fluff (SM Codex or http://www.lexicanum.com (http://www.lexicanum.com) ). Pics are very bad, sorry for this I ll try to take some better.

Here's been my latest "work".

Creating a Commander with a jump pack, and making him look the Leader of the 'Guardian Angels'.
He is yet to be painted, but this is how he's turned out so far:

Commander - Front

hi everybody,

here is the first tac squad of my custom-chapter "Gahmurets Pride". They are BT-Successors , with a custom Background. I decided to go this way, cause i love the look and feel of the Templars, but they are to CC-oriented for what I want to play right now.
I know I have to get better, but for the first minis I have painted after a ten year break, its not too bad.

Here are mine. Don't let the red/yellow theme and Vulkan fool you -  they're neither Blood Angels not Salamanders descendant chapter ;) (Vulkan's just a chapter master). Overall I'm a very crappy painter but I do my best to give my opponents the pleasure of playing against fully painted WYSIWYG army.

Hiya There

Well easy really, at the time the wife and I were redecorating a couple rooms about the house so I used liberal amounts of "spare" water-based wall emulsion as a base coat, then sprayed with matt black paint and finished with a emulsion dry-brushing.  The lava is simply some yellow and red childrens craft paint from ASDA (Walmart) that only cost £1 per litre :)

Cheers!

May I suggest putting 1 or 2 bridges across a few gaps, to make it easier? Like say you can only move across the bridges, not just jump across. Looks incredibly fun to play on. I can see it now, my guard holding off a hoard of daemons across a bridge, whilst a Bloodthirster is attacking my flanks........ 8)

About how long did it take to make?

Hiya There

I've made more than 30 terrain bits for it such as bridges, trees, hills, and craters.  Altogether it took about 2weeks for the main 8 sections and the bits are ongoing as and when I think of something, but not long... :)

I'm nowhere near as good was what other people have posted, espicailly the Imperial Fists (very nice work there Dark Pariah). Props to CheesyRobMan for painting so much in that time (I wish I could paint as fast as you) and to Sputnik for the awesome pink marines  :P.

Anyway, here's the 1500 point army I've been playing with recently. I have far more painted than this, but I can't be bothered to fish it all out and take photos of them all.

Army shot:

Biker Captain and Bike squad:

CC Scout squad and Land Speeder Storm:

Two Ironclad Dreadnoughts with Drop Pods and an Autocannon Mortis Dreadnought:

Finally a Librarian with Tactical squad and their Drop Pod
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg25.imageshack.us%2Fimg25%2F7290%2Fdsc00059yb.jpg&hash=2cf76ba474cd9d0cfe50822ed4dc48612d4d80b2)

Some really good painting in this thread. Hope I don't disappoint  :).

Thanks

Dark Pariah: your Imperial Fists are awesome! Superb painting. The LR is very impressive; where did you get the extra parts? Also love the Space Hulk Terminators.

Thanks, the extra bits and pieces were mainly all off the Cities Of Death kits with a few Bastion parts aswell.

A few strategic cuts, clipping and filing and hey presto, fancy pants landraider.

That's a really cool dreadnought! The red is very deep.

For me the base is a bit too much...

Black Templars of the Orkamedes Crusade (we're crusading to find the supposed "Orkamedes", the one behind the second and third wars for Armageddon).

(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi29.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fc255%2Fgeorge_timson%2FIMG_0561.jpg&hash=f2b354e94c669a819d469f3ee013e2b9fa4e9170)
Support Vehicles (don't mind the permadust on the one crusader, purchased that and painted it within a week of it coming out, the old metal bit one.)

(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi29.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fc255%2Fgeorge_timson%2FIMG_0562.jpg&hash=a9cc757791136a3ee06c0570860535492990d85e)
The troops :)

I started raising a Space Wolf army a couple months ago as a "lighter" alternative to my IG army (which is very tank-heavy).

Thematically, going for a mostly vehicleless army, so no Rhinos/Razorbacks. The only vehicles I'm considering are Dreadnoughts, bikes, and Drop Pods. Centerpiece will be my Thunderwolf Cavalry units... as I love me a good cav charge.

After getting bored with "normal" hair colors, I figured these guys would have no problems dying their hair all sorts of colors.

If you want to post pictures, the best way to do it is to have an account with a photo-sharing website like Photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com).  After you have uploaded the picture there, it is usually a quick copy and paste of the sharing link they give for BBcode forums to post them here.
