That is an awesome Krondys, really lovely work you did on the scales, horns, and wings!

Basically, the whole model really  ;D!

Thanks. I'm trying to figure out how i want to approach the phalanges on the underside of the wings, but i have a few ideas i'm going to experiment with... We'll see when i have more progress.

I like the dragon in particular. The highlights really make it pop. And the Khemri ship looks very sinister.

I've actually done some experimenting with those too. You wouldn't know by looking at it, but the (currently) final highlight on the face isn't even a Blue. It's Gauss Blaster Green. I've been really impressed with how the blue tones in it just blend so well, while the Green disappears entirely. Because, as i'm learning... Colours are basically sorcery.

Wow! I wish I could keep myself at it. Ah but watching you is a great second. Dreadfleet, wow. I have it, still in box, played it once a long time ago. Wasn't really impressed with the rules. It's great seeing someone painting them. The blood crushers look phenomenal, the colors are perfect. Keep at it.

At this point, i've recalled more about my painting and how much time it takes, so i've abandoned my 1 Unit A Week goal, and instead shifted to a Time Spent approach. I spend an hour after work every day painting, and really try to keep myself at it.

I've got one hell of a backlog to get through, so i gotta knuckle down. There's... 100 Guardian Defenders alone that need paint...

ANYWAY, all 3 of the Dreadfleet ships are done. Curse of Zandri, The Black Kraken, and the Grimnir's Thunder. I'm going to wait until i have the whole set done, and tackle all the water at the same time to try and make it as consistent as i can.

Cheers, I suspected it might be Eldrad. I actually thought the old Eldrad miniature looked pretty good and there was no real need for GW to make a new one. Then after seeing your post I did a side-by-side comparison and wow! The new one's much better proportioned and dynamically posed than the old one. Then again the old one does date back to the early 90s and compared favourably to contemporary models.

Oh, and how very appropriate to see an Eldar special character sticking his long pointy nose into other craftworlds' business! ;D

I'm enjoying seeing the Wraithguard progress. Good luck with those large flat white surfaces!

What's going on with the Farseer's colour scheme? Different craftworld?

Thank you! It's not so bad if you build up from a dark or more neutral grey!

Also that "Farseer" I have you know, is Eldrad Ulthran, the most legendary farseer of Craftworld Ulthwe and the Aeldari! Since he is a named character, I painted him more true to his craftworld scheme. He'll be 'advising' my Saim-Hann forces when needed  ;D.

(Image removed from quote.)

I don't know if Legions Imperalis lets you fire off the hellstrike missiles or not. If so I'm starting every game by firing 18 of them downrange while making Apocalypse Now quotes.

In other news pre ordered the box set and some Kratos heavy tanks. And some rhinos. And some extra marine infanty so soon genuine GW plastic will grace the blog again!

Edit, I've broken the automerge thingy... doh

Those look absolutely sick! I would love to see you paint a truescale thunderhawk in White Scars colors! Quite the challenge!

Art & Fiction / Re: A Sanctum of Swords - A Sanctum of Swords 2.0 Announcement!

Thanks for the post mortem. It's interesting to sneak a peek beyond the curtain into the world of book publishing, which I knew very little about. Are ebooks so important now that you can adopt the 'just get in there' attitude you describe on the reasonable expectation that you can fix any mistakes later? I imagine you would have been more cautious if paperback accounted for 100% of sales.

Sorry for the delayed response, but yes, if paperback accounted for 100% of sales I would've been far more cautious. Still, live and learn! I do think ebooks do give authors a lot of leeway to fix mistakes, however and whenever they catch them. It's definitely a luxury that I've already learned to take advantage of lol!

Announcement Time:A Sanctum of Swords will be undergoing a second round of full-scale editing Q1 2024 next year! That means the audiobook will be a bit further delayed, but definitely for the best!

Just a small update today. I've finished magnetising the bases for the British 33rd Regiment of Foot. I also popped down to the store to buy new blue and grey paints and assembled 18 French infantry this week. I primed them and the 33rd Foot's command models in between showers today. It's been raining something awful here this past month.

An uneasy truce at the priming station. British on the left and French on the right very awkwardly avoiding eye contact.

I'm rather looking forward to painting the French infantry. I still have a 24-hour wait till the primer has properly dried. The French greatcoats should be much faster and easier to paint than the British uniform jackets. I'll go for a hodgepodge of drab greys and browns to highlight the problems the French were having with sourcing uniforms. Some soldiers by 1815 were actually wearing civilian clothes under their greatcoats due to uniform shortages. These issues are also evident from some of the men wearing forage caps rather than the prescribed shakos. The most glamorous part of the Napoleonic age this was not.
