I've spoken with Saracenar and gotten the go ahead to host a game set a few centuries after the events of the Encaris V roleplaying threads, in the same setting.  Those of you who participated in Encaris IV and/or V will remember some really great roleplaying that went on between all the characters and the GM.

The end of the Encaris V story left most of the heroes dead, entombed within the rubble of a destroyed necron tomb, with a farseer, and a freshly turned solitaire being two of the casualties, as well as an odd sword that had interesting effects upon its wielder.

This story will focus on the efforts of a group of eldar who have been sent to rescue the spirit stones, as word of the events on Encaris V reached the exodites and craftworlds from the one eldar who escaped the destruction of the tomb.

This will have a good deal of both combat and non-combat roleplay involved, and also a few puzzles. Try to think outside the box rather than hit a problem to make it go away, and you'll be very happy with the results I think.

I'm looking for 4-6 players total, with Saracenar being promised a spot already and Nightwalker and Faitherun showing interest.

1. Saracenar
2. Faitherun
3. Nightwalker
4. Killskin
5. Azore24
6. Khemri.

Once I'm back from work, I'll update with the number-crunching combat profiles we'll be using for this story.
If you're interested, pop a post up saying so, and a name, gender, age, general appearance, career/specialization and background for an eldar character (corsair, exodite or craftworlder, dark eldar unfortunately don't fit in soulstone recovery missions).  If there's something glaringly OP about a character, we'll discuss it in PMs, but please no Eldrad Ulthrans or Prince Yriels or the like.

Combat Profiles:
Standard Eldar Aspect Warrior, Ranger, or Guardian Statline (Aspect Warrior for Exodite Warriors, Aspect Warriors, Boarding Party Corsairs; Ranger for Exodite Hunters, Rangers, Corsair sniper types, Guardian for any other career paths that aren't as military, but might have benefits other than just killing things)
**Put whichever profile you think fits with your eldar better, and odds are it will be the correct one.**

Wargear: Anything reasonably within the realm of standard equipment for your character's career, plus a wraithbone rune representing your character's career/life focus at this time.  Non combatant/guardian stat-line characters are limited to regular close combat weapons, shuriken pistols, catapults, and digital weapons that have a laspistol profile.
**Make sure this is all equipment your character could actually carry; a general rule of thumb is five hands worth of weapons, with a belt of 5 grenades taking up a hand slot, two handed weapons taking up two, and one-handed weapons taking up one.  Other Wargear should adhere to what most elder in such a career would have.**

There will be an additional little goody given to each member of the team following the briefing.

An Eldar RPG? Finally! Count me in! I`ll post name, age, and all that a little later, but I have a few questions first.

1. Do we all have to come from the same craftworld?
2. Does it matter what craftworld you come from?
3. What are you looking for in career/specialty? You mean like a certain type of Aspect Warrior or Ranger?

Just to make it clear, I`m definitely in, but I would appreciate if you would answer these questions for clarification purposes. Thanks!

To answer your questions:
1) You don't have have to all be from the same craftworld, as the group that is being recovered hailed from several different craftworlds in addition to the fact the the eldar faction sponsoring the recovery mission is a part of a larger loose alliance of many of the less-well-known craftworlds (The Council of Buanneth Fihrin to be precise).

2) If you're going the Craftworld route, what craftworld you come from can have an impact on how you roleplay your character, but that's about it.  Specific craftworlds don't gain advantages over others.  If you're going the Exodite or Corsair route, then similarly, the planet or fleet from which your character hails has no impact beyond what you reflect about that group through your RP.  However, it should be noted that NPC craftworlders may act in a different manner to Exodites and Corsairs not from their craftworld than they would to other craftworlders.

3) Career can be anything from an Exodite Hunter or Dragon Knight, to a Bonesinger, Healing Seer, Corsair Crewman, Boarding specialist, a Corsair who focuses more on subtlety and intrigue, or an aspect warrior (including foot and vehicle based aspects like the Star Eagles), black guardian, ranger or whatever other eldar profession might come to mind.  One could even create a character on the Path of the Mariner (Craftworld Naval personnel and non-combat pilots)

Basically it's what your eldar is currently working on mastering or his/her calling in life.

Specialty is that one part of their career that the eldar might show more aptitude in, more natural talent, etc.  So for a Dire Avenger, being a sharpshooter at rather extreme ranges, or for a ranger, setting traps, pitfalls and mine emplacements.

The idea is to get you guys to flesh out your characters a little bit from the start, as well as give me a few ideas for how to personalize the campaign to my players.

***I should also mention, this is intended as the first part in a series of RP threads/campaigns in which "Something Big" happens or doesn't happen based on character actions.***

Yup, Im in. Also will brush up on the background for Eldar, just in case. ;) Will also do some thinking on a character.
I have a very long day of work tomorrow that may give me the time.

Name: Morion I Roitar

Gender: Female

Age: 143

Description: Morion is very young and energetic. She is just a little over six feet tall, with a lanky figure. She wears a worn mesh ranger’s cloak, bearing the damages of battle and travel. Her dark hair is long and hangs wildly over her lightly framed shoulders. Above her left eye is a crude scar that could only have been left by a human medicine. But the strangest thing about her dress is an ork toof necklace around her neck, in the center of which hangs a wraithbone rune depicting her as a wanderer.

Background: Morion left her craftworld as soon as she was able, finding the path system to confining. She wanted to explore distant worlds, meet strange aliens, and hunt most dangerous beasts. She wandered between worlds, almost completely at random. But most worlds she found dormant, with little to offer. Others she learned a great deal from such as the language of low gothic, or how to trap a carnosaur.

Her travels soon lead her to an imperial world known to the humans as “The Emperor’s Grace Minor,” that was under siege by orks. The humans were at first as scared of her as they were the orks, but after a few months she convinced them to accept her help. She became a key figure to the human resistance. “A blessing from the emperor himself,” some even said. She would lead raids, instruct in the use of traps, anything she could. But it was all for nothing, after a short decade the orks had completely overwhelmed the last of the resistance and Morion fled. Since then she has tried to contact other human worlds, but none so far have been as welcoming as the one’s she once knew.

Gear: Under her mesh cloak she carries a shuriken pistol on her right hip, two knives on her left hip (one a fine Eldar hunting knife, the other a human chain knife), two plasma grenades, and one haywire grenade. On her back she carries a prized ranger long rifle. Over her right shoulder she carries a satchel filled with a small amount of food and water, and gear to set traps. Such as wire, blasting caps, a handful of metal spikes, ect.

Sounds quite interesting.  I haven't been part of one of these in a while, so I would like to join up if possible.  Is knowledge of the other Encaris games required, or will we get a briefing at the beginning of the game to learn what is going on?  Also, are Harlequins allowed, or only CWE, Exodites, and Corsairs?

There will be an IC briefing from the only eldar who survived the Encaris events.  Also, I can give an OOC summary of what happened on Encaris V as that is the one which this campaign follows the result of.

I'm limiting the field to CWE, Corsairs and Exodites for this one, as the Harlequins are going to be an NPC presence that is hopefully enigmatic and sometimes helpful, other times distant and merely observing.  That said, a Corsair could have equipment similar to that of a Harlequin, as could a craftworlder who might train in the aspect of artful assassination.

Also, I'm updating first post with interested parties.

Oh.... I've been waiting for this!

I am definitively in. I need to think through the appropriate character - do some eldar reading again, and get in the mood. I will post my character in the next few days...

This game has my seal of approval ;D

As to what kind of character I'll be playing as...I'll also need to do some research. It's been a while since I've had anything to do with Eldar.

Khemri should make a cameo appearance to give his (her) recount of the events! Unless of course he wants to play!

I as well will require time to figure out a character.  I guess my Death Jester idea is out, though; I was looking to make things blow up with Shreiker poison.  Ah, well.  Will post here at some point during the weekend with a character.  Can you give us any idea what sort of things we'll be doing?

Like, I don't want to send a Dark Reaper character if we are looking to be a mobile strike force, for example.  Also, what level of gear could we take with us?  Basically, I'd guess the tiers are: wearable items (wielded weapons, armor, etc.), medium items (jetbikes, mounts, etc.), and large (tanks, walkers, etc.).  I guess gear isn't one of our character creation categories, but if I were to choose someone on the path of the War Walker, I don't want to send him in armed with only a shuriken catapult.

The Wargear and combat profile sections have been added to the first post.

To answer your question Azore, your characters will have an eldar shuttlecraft to deploy them, so one could be at maximum a Vyper or War Walker Pilot, though the vehicles would occasionally not be appropriate for some of the things that the team will need to do.  Mounts like horse-sized Exodite Dragons or jetbikes are also okay, provided they fit with what your character would have access to.  So no Fire Dragons on Jetbikes...

One other thing to consider is that Corsairs might very well have shuriken cannon gunners who utilize bio-explosive ammo, so while he might not be a Death jester, he could be close in armament and wargear, and maybe even attitude.  It's just that he can't be a current Harlequin.

Basically, whatever you guys come up with as a team is very likely to work out, so make a character you want to RP and don't worry about whether they'll be a liability in some cases.

If you have any worries about whether something might be OP, PM me, and we'll figure it out.

Also, I agree, Khemri should totally either play or at least make a cameo appearance.

Ok, thought a bit more, and I think I'd like to run a swooping hawk - love the idea of those guys.

I think I want to be a cousin of Argetlam, one who knows of his legacy, and while saddened for what he became, understands him and tries to live life differently...

So still need to work on a name, and more background and all...  will do so soon

Are you lot mad? Of course I want to play! I'll set to work on a character. If I could be playing Ythoelle herself again that'd be kind of neat, though I get the impression you're planning to use her as an NPC.

So I slept on it, and here is what I have so far...

Name: Arian Asgellog
Age:  632
Gender: Female
Description: Arian stands short for an eldar, at only twelve and a half hands (about 4ft 7in, or about 1.45 meters). She has one silver eye, and one gold eye, marking her genetics as unstable, something that has given concern to the Farseers. It is for this reason she has never borne young, although that has not stopped her from taking a few lovers. Her hair is silver, with feathers threaded through the strands. Her round face bears numerous scars, mainly from weapons discharge that she barley avoided.
Background: Arian never wanted to be on the war path. She had seen the allure of it, the pull that was calling to her as a child, and so she avoided it. She took up the path of the mender, and the path of the boneseer, the path of the wander for a time as well. Yet eventually, she gave in. It was not the war that drew her into its Khaine's embrace. It was the flight. Always small for her kind, small for those of humans as well, the idea of flight drew her, and it never let her go. For onwards of 300 years now, she has lived in the temple of the swooping hawks, unable to  break free of the path. She is regarded as a leader now, an honor that she never desired. She views herself more as a messenger. She brings Isha's message to all the misguided and deluded forces in the galaxy. "This is our place", she says, "our legacy, and our future. Leave now, despoil it not, and there need be no bloodshed".

Arian meet Argetlam when he was still very young, barley a child himself. Her sister, his mother, was worried about his violent temper, and his refusal to embrace the Paths. Arian counseled to let him wander, and wander he did. When she next saw Argetlam, he had a mate with him, a young eldar named Fragarach. Fragarach calmed Argetlam, and Arian was happy for the couple. However, neither had dedicated themselves to a path and the wandered they webways together.

It was not until many years latter, when Arian had finally accepted that she was stuck as an Exarch, that she met Argetlam again. He was alone, and his anger was fierce again. With him was a peculiar sword, one which he refused to elaborate on. Yet Arian could feel, within the sword, the soul of Fragarach, trapped and bound. Arian was horrified at what this could imply about her cousin, but it soon became clear that he was still very much in love with Fragarach. Argetlam departed soon after, still wandering, and Arian has yet to see him again, but she looks forward to their next meeting, and hopes to better understand what befell Fragarach.

Arian has taught many aspirants to the temple of the swooping hawks, and she now feels the need to spread her wings once more and go off in search of more experiences, so that she may share her wisdom with her young hawks.
Wargear: Swooping Hawk wings and grenade pack (how will that work - i.e. how many do I have, and how far can they be shot?) Sunrifle, Power blades attached to gauntlets, spare soul stone, and a medical kit (from her days as a mender).

So hopefuly for those who played with Argetlam, that will explain a bit about him. Arian is also still under the impression that he is alive, so that will be interesting too. Anything I forgot?

Name: Hyrulen Marthuen
Gender: male
Age: 232
Appearance: Hyrulen is a healthy 6'5" and is quite muscular for an Eldar. His jet black hair is constantly kept as a military buzzcut and his cold blue eyes remind most individuals of an empty, frozen wasteland. His body is covered in many battle scars.
Background: Since he was a young child, Hyrulen`s desire was to make his father proud. His father was, however, a powerful and influential Seer with high expectations, and no matter what Hyrulen did, he never heard the words, "I`m proud of you, son." He tried everything to make his father proud. He was a merchant, an artisan, a pilot, and many other professions as well. One day he asked his father what he had to do to make him proud; his father told him that he must do something worth remembering for years to come. Hyrulen thought for a long time until he found his answer in the form of a statue of a mighty Eldar warrior. Hyrulen then went on to become a Striking Scorpion to gain his father`s approval. In battle he would seek out the toughest opponents he could find, which usually added to his large collection of scars. His most notable scar is the one across his face running from the corner of his right eye, past his nose across his mouth, and slighty off to the left side of his chin. When his father was still not pleased, he went on a rampage killing dozens of enemy troops. He has been lost on the Path of the Warrior ever since, still looking to make his father proud.
Specialty: Hyrulen treaded the Path of Awakening to sharpen his senses. Hardly anything gets by him unnoticed.
Wargear: belt of 5 plasma grenades, biting blade, shuriken pistol, mandiblasters

I think that`s everything.

Name: Ythoelle Nysshea

Gender: Female

Age: 381

Description: Ythoelle has the profile of a classical Eldar maiden; tall and thin-framed, with glossy, black hair falling about her shoulders. She has a youthful face, with soft cheekbones and a slim jaw that lend her a delicate beauty. Her green eyes look haunted and sleepless though, and her face is etched with lines of some old sadness and grief, as obvious as any physical wound. Underneath her cloak and robes, a patch of old scar tissue runs from breast to hip on her left side, where a Necrontyr weapon left its mark on her. On a cord around her neck hangs a pair of silent, weathered soul stones.

Equipment: Ranger long rifle, power sword, 5 plasma grenades.

Background: Ythoelle spent nearly three years on the blasted surface of Encaris V in the wake of the battle that cost the lives of her companions. She passed the first two years alone and half-mad, avoiding both human survivors and the Necrontyr remnants still stalking the surface. Eventually, she fell in with a band of humans after coming to their aid during a skirmish with their own kind.

Rescue came in the form of the Rogue Trader vessel Mercy’s End, whose master came to investigate the suddenly silent world ahead of the full Imperial response. She found some measure of solace in the company of Sariel, an Eldar living as one of the ship’s company. For a quarter century she travelled with them, the wounds left by Encaris beginning to heal.

Such respite was short-lived, however, as Sariel later revealed himself to be one of the Dark Kin. On the desolate frontier world of Indriga, he attempted to bring Ythoelle back to the benighted city of Commorragh, first with words and then, when she refused, with force. Ythoelle killed him in the ensuing struggle and fled into the wild to exist alone once more.

She would eventually be found once more by a band of Corsair Eldar, plying their trade across the edge of the Imperium. Once more among her own kind, Ythoelle took up the life of an outcast again, travelling the forgotten, silent places of the galaxy in solitude. She told few her story of the events on Encaris, preferring to keep the memories her own, but eventually the tale reached enough ears for a mission to be conceived with the aim of retrieving the soul stones still buried there.

Ythoelle has agreed to accompany the expedition as a guide, though some believe she has reasons for returning yet undisclosed.

I'll have one up sometime today, probably later tonight.  Still torn between a Corsair with bio-explosive ammo and a War Walker pilot.  Would it be reasonable for the pilot to have some bonesinging skill from a past path?  I'm thinking that on his/her Craftworld, knowledge of basic bonesinging was part of the vehicle paths.  The Corsair would probably have gotten his knowledge of bio-explosives from a visiting Harlequin troupe.  I guess my problem with the Corsair is that I know almost nothing about how they act.  Would they just be 'normal' people with extreme Eldar emotions, or are they on, like, the 'Path of the Corsair' type thing?
