Silly excel-problem
« on: November 9, 2011, 10:10:30 AM »
I have a column with 100 cells filled with names
I need a function to pick one name at random from this list of 100.
I have been looking around and none of it works, for some reason.

Anyone know what function to use.

Bah! Technology. Names at random? The 'hat function' is the only surefire way to get ti t work. As to escel, sorry, I'd be as lost as you.

More google-fu needed

=INDEX(A1:A100; TRUNC(RAND()*ROWS(A1:A100);0)+1)

That's the answer.
