Back in the day I remember the Tau being noted as relatively short-lived, unlike Imperials who have access to rejuvenat treatments and cybernetics and the like.
Commander Farsight was a noted exception, causing speculation about demonic possession, Necron manipulation, timey-wimey stuff, or a dynasty of commanders using the same monicker.
But now quite a lot of time has passed in ye olde 40k into 8th Edition, which makes me ask: is it weird that Shadowsun is still alive? How old would she be?
-
Well, it would be weird for her to still be alive at this point wouldn't it?
However, Shadowsun is usually kept in cryostasis and only awakened in times of greet need for the Tau.
So she's been alive this entire time because they have kept her frozen for throughout much of it.

Ah, is that from the Tau Codex? Thanks. :)

Yes, and also in the Greater Good Psychic Awakening Book as well! :)
-
Yeah, seeing the teaser for Psychic Awakening was what prompted the question in the first place. Thanks for explaining. :)

Farsight has a Highly Suspicious Artefact sword that transfers some of the life energy from his kills to him thus expanding on his lifespan quite considerably. Not daemonic, more the exact opposite along with his anti-Chaos medallions.

Yeah, I vaguely remember the Necron hints now, I just wasn't sure if it had been retconned.

Yeah. Farsight and Shadowsun used to be in the same academy as students under Commander Puretide.
Farsight commanded a team known as the "Eight". They've all died from constant war or old age. Yet the Eight still fight on by an artificial intelligence that has recorded their psyche integrated into each of their battlesuits.
It's actually kind of depressing lol.

Well damn, looks like the Tau are encroaching on Collegia Titanica territory!
-
The story of how things played out with Puretide at the end is pretty interesting, too, and was a formative experience for Farsight. If you have the time, Blades of Damocles goes over it and is pretty good.

The Eight gets even more confusing when read into it. One was essentially a dreadnaught with the pilot unable to leave the armour, one is an AI program, there's an Earth Caste pilot using "tech" to stay alive, there's a legacy clone member who keeps getting replaced, there's the one who got frozen for a while due to dodgy neural tech, and a couple of others not so notable.
This is prior to the latest release.
