Title: My Latest Novel Releases Today!
Post by: Wyddr on June 21, 2016, 10:59:14 AM
Hey, fellows!

For those of you who don't know, I'm a professional fantasy and science fiction author. My latest novel (second in a series) has released today in e-book format. Here's the cover art/blurb for No Good Deed:

(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi189.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz81%2Faahabershaw%2FNoGoodDeed_cover%2520art_zpsjdibseko.jpg&hash=a59e7a88d7775ca9dadcb180ae3646f77d9bf330) (http://s189.photobucket.com/user/aahabershaw/media/NoGoodDeed_cover%20art_zpsjdibseko.jpg.html)

Quote
Cursed with a magic ring that forbids skullduggery, Tyvian Reldamar’s life of crime is sadly behind him. Now reduced to fencing moldy relics and wheedling favors from petty nobility, he’s pretty sure his life can’t get any worse.

That is until he hears that his old nemesis, Myreon Alafarr, has been framed for a crime she didn’t commit and turned to stone in a penitentiary garden. Somebody is trying to get his attention, and that somebody is playing a very high-stakes game that will draw Tyvian and his friends back to the city of his birth and right under the noses of the Defenders he’s been dodging for so long. And that isn’t even the worst part. The worst part is that the person pulling all the strings is none other than the most powerful sorceress in the West: Lyrelle Reldamar.

Tyvian’s own mother.

Check it out if you've a mind! Here's a link that will take you to most of the major venues carrying it at the moment:

No Good Deed - Auston Habershaw - E-book (https://www.harpercollins.com/9780062369192/no-good-deed)

And there's also my blog, with tons of other info and links to the first book in the series, too.

Nooooooo!  Why did you post this when I haven't finished reading the first book yet?!?  How can I go on knowing that Tyvian and Myreon both survive?!?

HOW I ASK YOU!!!

Now that I have gotten that out of my system, I guess I have another book to buy soon lol.  Honest, I promise to finish the first one soon(ish)!

Well, considering the segment where Tyvian kissed Myreon... Yeah.  Spoilers bro!

That being said, I just finished the first book and loved the ending.  I was expecting some big major magical fight and got... A snowball fight lol.

Bravo sir!  Well worth the read and I look forward to reading part 2.

Okay, we're not just saying this as he *keeps* sending botulism parcels to our house, yet, his books are actually quite good. We're reading them and they're really good. You lot should probably read them as well, unless you're immune to botulism but you know.

THE POISONINGS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL BOOK SALES IMPROVE!

(And thanks so much! Glad you're enjoying them!)

Sweet! Thanks!

The final book in the series releases in March, so I won't leave you hanging for a conclusion too long.

I hope you like them!

That's good, not making a GRR Martin of yourself  ;D

Looking forward to the read.

Our oldest (15) has been reading The Malazan Book of the Fallen and usually take a break in between volumes, says it's a bit heavy, so your work is likely to be welcome. Now, I have no idea how literally dense is your own writing though, but if there's snowballs involved (damn the spoilers)it should be fine.

I just read the first malaZan book, and ho-boy was that a dense read. Not sure I'm ready for the next. Currently reading the magelord series, but when I'm done I'll check out the redeemed saga. I can get it on my Kindle? Or as a .Mobi format?

The nexts few are more consistent and even better IMHO, actually shed tears a the end of the second one, but they do get denser. The last three of the series also delve somewhat into philosophy. Good luck.

Now I'll stop hijacking Wyddr's thread.

Yes! It's totally available via Kindle--it's how I sell most of my books, as it happens!
(also worth noting that my books are crazy cheap on Kindle--like 3-4 USD. Not great for me, royalties-wise, but good for you!)

Haven't got around to Malazan, myself. I hear it's a slog and I just don't have the time. I would not characterize my books as dense--they read pretty fast, even though they're fairly long. Closest analog I can think of is Scott Lynch, to whom my work has been compared on several occasions. Which is awesome, because he's AMAZING.

Yeah, I'm certainly going to pick up your books next when I'm done my current. I'm not going to read any more of the malaZan books. Waaay too busy. Is there a better way to support your books in a Kindle friendly way? Although, 3-4usd is a no brainer tbh.

I like long, fun easy to read books.

Yours sounds like the right scratch to my itch.

Not really, no. Pretty much any format in any place is going to wind up paying me the same royalty, overall. I make about $1 off any given sale.

My publisher sets the prices, and they've priced it to move. I think the general idea is to get more attention for the imprint and for the authors, rather than actually make a lot of money. My agent has strong opinions on this, but I only got him for books 3 and 4.

Mmm, I ordered the hard copies myself, I'm yet to get an electronic reader or tablet, old school book reader me!

Made a new bookshelf last months to liberate some space on my bigger old one, and get the pile sitting in the corner of my office on shelves. 30 X 80 inches... After some re-ordering (and adding my wife's books) it's already full.  :'(

Guess I'll have to make a new (again) next year.

This is basically why I wound up reading a lot of e-books. All my shelves are filled. Now I usually read a book in e-book format first, and then if I really love it, I buy the hard copy to keep.

I do the same. It's much easier to travel with a kindle than any book.

I've been told repetively by friends that I should do it... and yeah, guess I should!

Would cost less too when you start delving into new series, been burned a few times by works that I didn't like or were outright bad. These are just using shelf space.

That's the thing though, as one gets older, tastes evolve. I still read Salvatore's Drizzt series, but not avidly as I used too as a teenager. Now they are just light stuff to pass time.

I just want to point out that if you don't have an e-reader, you can always download the Kindle app to your phone.  That's what I did.  Now I just have to buy Wyddr's second book lol.

You know... like I said I would... when it was released.

Started reading The Oldest Trick yesterday, 160+ pages through, relatively light reading, very enjoyable, made me smirk and chuckle quite a few times, somewhat drastic a change after reading Glen Cook's Passage to Arms.

Very good work there, thank you. :)

Yaaay! Thank you! I'm so glad you like the books!

Yeah, Book 4 (THE FAR FAR BETTER THING) releases in e-book March 5th and then in paperback on...like the 19th or something, I think. And that's the end of the series, so for those of you who hate starting unfinished fantasy series, you no longer have that excuse.

Yep, ordered the paperback version, and you're welcome, it is a well written story. :)

It's good that it has an end, sometimes I glare at my Song of Ice and Fire series or the Kingkiller trilogy duology.

Looking forward to more works from you (no pressure).

I wish! If I could get away with writing 5/6ths of a series and still make millions, I WOULD!

Looking forward to more works from you (no pressure).

I'm working on a time-travel book right now. I give a time machine to a mob enforcer and he has to figure out how to steal a billion dollars across time and space. It's undergoing my final revisions before I give it to my agent (who will probably have revisions for me) and then hopefully it gets sold to a publisher (who will have revisions for me). I wouldn't expect it for another year, at least.

This summer I'll be writing yet *another* book, but I just haven't decided which one of my ideas I want to pursue, yet.

They are *definitely* available on Kindle (some variation regarding country notwithstanding)! Most of my sales are e-book sales.
