Nice paint job! It holds up very well even close up. Don't forget to daub it in red paint because gotta go fast. ;)

So too did everyone who saw your post, I'm sure. I like the end result. Enough red to go fast but not so much it stops being a White Scars Thunderhawk.

What else do you have planned?

My 40K White Scars were (are) about 50:50 with red markings, mostly because it stopped big expanses of badly painted white looking too patchy. This model is one of the first White Scars models I've been happy with the White looking good enough to leave centre stage.

Left on the painting table are a few more generic 6mm sci-fi bike troopers, which yes are not GW but FW had abandoned Epic for a long time when I picked them. But not much more White Scars until I can support an offial release I think, rumour has it thar its soon!

Eldar need more vehicle painting, a couple of Revenant titans as well as a freshening up of original Epic 40K infantry (which should make Irisado happier, although I do appricate his, ah, discrection). I think they'll keep their classic square bases so just bringing them up to scratch.

Will the Warlock and Phantom titans get love? Unsure as they're missing parts which are tough to replace...  :-\

Depends if I can find any Epic Armageddon players to play Eldar with or if I have write some fan rules to inflict on Legions players?

I love the thunderhawk! White Scars are such a daring scheme - difficult to do convincingly, but wonderful when done well!

Revenant titans are such beautiful models.  They were among the best titans that GW ever sculpted in my opinion, although all the second edition Eldar titans are gorgeous, so it's a close contest as to which I like the best.  I'd probably opt for the Warlock titan if I had to choose on the basis of the aesthetics.

If you are missing any weapons for Phantom titans, I may have some spares at my parent's house.  I can check at Christmas if you let me know what you need.

While i do still adore the old Revenant style, i also think their updated designs fit the Eldar better on the whole. The originals were very much a... Eldar Warhound in design, while most of their other constructs have very strongly veered towards a strictly humanoid design. There's a lot of older styles of constructs i still adore, especially the Revenant and some of the Knights, but on the whole i think the changes made for a more cohesive aesthetic in the range.

I'd love to see them return as Exodite variants someday. Harkening back to earlier designs which the Exodites have stashed away in case of a crisis.

More to the point, Aech, i love your whites. As someone who slaved over white far too much recently on my Dragon Princes, i'm always envious of a good clean execution.

The updated design pf the Revenant titans are fantastic, they really captured the poise and grace of Eldar design.

They currently have only a spraypaint and bit of undercoat so need to get back to them really.

The big titan situation is a mixed bag...

Desperate need of a lot of tender loving care. The warlock has been converted to be stomping on a Rhino (previous owner!) but is badly broken and clearly wasn't pinned. There is an additional Phantom in pieces.

The real issue is that all three have lost their holofield vanes which I'm yet to work out a solution to as they're complex and distinctive shapes. I was wondering if the Wraithguard box has similar spares I could acquire maybe?

More to the point, Aech, i love your whites. As someone who slaved over white far too much recently on my Dragon Princes, i'm always envious of a good clean execution.

Very kind of you to say, personally I'm very happy with how its come out. My 40K White Scars (some of whom are 25 years old) is very hit and miss in paint quality (mostly miss tbh). Thus the red/white artic camo style to try to hide it!

I've found it a whole world easier with contrast paints. Plus the White Scar spray does a far better job than Skull white used to. I am using Vallejo White for drybrushing and edge highlighting to brighten it up again. Seems effective!

I love the thunderhawk! White Scars are such a daring scheme - difficult to do convincingly, but wonderful when done well!

The thunderhawk has gained a flying stand and been my desk companion since. I need to do a little finishing up on windows but thank you.

Two weeks and should have a heap of Legions Imperialis to paint! ;D

Yes the only somewhat suitable scenery I have it HO scale shipping containers. I find it amusing this implies Maersk are still operating!

I liked the asymmetry on the marine. On the Thunderhawks not so much. It looks off somehow. :-\ I like the symmetrical Thunderhawk though!

Was that a basic marine with a basic boltgun by the way? 40K models have gotten bigger than I realised.

Yeah, is triggering my OCD a whole bunch, the first one (pictured above) isn't symmetrical but is similar both sides. I like it but I'm not sure, I'll let it be to see if I feel going forward, always easier to add markings than take them away!

The marine is a primaris marine, GW sort of truescaled their marine range. But made a werid in lore reason that a techpriest has quietly made millions of super marines but not sent them out until Gulliman returned and said so. I mean, would have been useful helping with the black crusades and so on? Idk, he was free I haven't played 40k for years, I have a couple more  one has a flamer. Might paint them too, who knows!

I don't know if Legions Imperalis lets you fire off the hellstrike missiles or not. If so I'm starting every game by firing 18 of them downrange while making Apocalypse Now quotes.

In other news pre ordered the box set and some Kratos heavy tanks. And some rhinos. And some extra marine infanty so soon genuine GW plastic will grace the blog again!

Edit, I've broken the automerge thingy... doh

What a terrible justification. Nice model though. They don't do the Darth Vader helms anymore though, do they? That's shame. I always liked those. I'll bet Forgeworld or something still sells them at a steep markup.

The Thunderhawks look great as a squadron. It's remarkable how if you put three+ of anything together it instantly looks better.

Looking forward to the other models you've got coming!

Those look absolutely sick! I would love to see you paint a truescale thunderhawk in White Scars colors! Quite the challenge!
