Trying to keep up with my 1 thing a week and decided to do something a little... rougher. So i tackled some of the 20 Poxwalkers i've got from my brother's collection. Not at all because i've been playing a bunch of Darktide.

Oh, these are fantastic, love em. I like that you kept the skin looking fairly natural, it makes the decay and mutation look more disturbing by contrast.

Love the really pallid look on the skin, as Godspeed mentioned, they make the sores/disease more natural on the skin and help it stand out. They look like they've been moldering in a watery / flooded part of a Hive City :).

Alas, goal failed this week. My goal, as stated, was a single 10 man unit, 2 characters, or a monster/tank a week. Unfortunately, i misjudged on the 10 man unit thing, and tackled the Dragon Princes, not realising that Cavalry (as well as my paint scheme) are far more involved than i budgeted for. Still, progress made. Which is part of the whole point isn't it? Gauging how long it takes to do something so you can better budget your time?

Anyway, the Princes are basically to the detail phase, with the Champion being mostly done. I'm conflicted on whether or not pushing the highlights is necessary, but hopefully the difference will be visible on the model.

Holy sweet hell, why do Fantasy models have so many different materials! My colour scheme probably doesn't help with the process... But, after 2 solid weeks on these lads, i'm going to shelve them for a bit and tackle something less intricate for the next week. Maybe some Rhinos...

Anyway, I consider it a learning experience in reacquainting myself with the time investment and pacing of the hobby. So it's not a failure to reach my goal, but rather a lesson in how to set goals.

They're looking so awesome, love the aethestic of Dragon Princes and these ones look as good as ever.

I played Dragon Princes using High Elves about a million years ago, are they still ridiculously fast heavy cavalry? Can you still get the hilarious Banner of Elyrion for running though terrain at full speed? That was such a fun party trick!

You think that's bad? Try painting Napoleonic British infantry. :P If these boys are headed the way of your unit champion though, you'll eventually have a very dashing unit to show for your efforts. I like the barding on his horse's head in particular.

love the shields! Dragon Princes are one of my favorite High Elf units, so glad to see them again in any form!

I would hope that they might get new models down the road with the Old World!

They remain what are probably my favorite looking unit in all of Warhammer. I'm hoping we get new ones, or at least a restoration of the last kit. I assembled these ones many years ago, and i'd like a chance to... Well, do a better job of the assembling than i did on these. I would prefer new ones who are fully detached from the mounts though, rather than their legs being sculpted to the Horse. But only because then i can put them on AOS Stormdrakes for some proper Dragon Princes.

Anywho, this week was a total write off. Between time change killing my daylight after work (hahah, daylight 'savings' my ass) my lamp dying on me, and a mishap with my glasses and superglue... All i got done was some basecoating on some of my Dreadfleet ships.

Shame about the week maybe but at least you did something!

About the Dreadfleet ships, if I had to guess I'd say Skaven, Khemri and Dwarfs from left to right. How far off am I? First I thought the left... thing was Chaos but on closer inspection it looks mechanical and there are even two doomwheel-looking things near the back.

Chaos Dwarf, actually. Though you did stumble upon the identity of the one in the background. The Black Karaken is a squid like submersible built by a mad Chaos Dwarf engineer. The disassembled ship in the background is the Skabarus, a reanimated zombie deep-sea Angler Fish infested with zombie Skaven (if memory serves, it's been awhile since i played).

The other wto are spot on though.

Ok, went a little off schedule with this one. But the goal has been to keep painting, which i've managed to do. Despite the setback with the glasses, discovering the heater in the room i paint wasn't working, and getting the flu.

Anyway, updates on the Dreadfleet ships.

Also got some basecoating going for my second unit of Vypers. Little more than busy work i could do while waiting on my glasses, but hey, progress is progress.

I also pulled out my brother's Bloodcrushers, and decided to pick at them. Experimenting with using his army colours (which are coincidently almost the same as my High Elf colours...) and then making them look like they're spattered with blood, rather than going the traditional red.

And finally, i've been picking away at Krondys. I think he will make a fine Star Dragon at this rate.

Wow! I wish I could keep myself at it. Ah but watching you is a great second. Dreadfleet, wow. I have it, still in box, played it once a long time ago. Wasn't really impressed with the rules. It's great seeing someone painting them. The blood crushers look phenomenal, the colors are perfect. Keep at it.

I like the dragon in particular. The highlights really make it pop. And the Khemri ship looks very sinister.

That is an awesome Krondys, really lovely work you did on the scales, horns, and wings!

Basically, the whole model really  ;D!

Thanks. I'm trying to figure out how i want to approach the phalanges on the underside of the wings, but i have a few ideas i'm going to experiment with... We'll see when i have more progress.

I like the dragon in particular. The highlights really make it pop. And the Khemri ship looks very sinister.

I've actually done some experimenting with those too. You wouldn't know by looking at it, but the (currently) final highlight on the face isn't even a Blue. It's Gauss Blaster Green. I've been really impressed with how the blue tones in it just blend so well, while the Green disappears entirely. Because, as i'm learning... Colours are basically sorcery.

Keep at it.

At this point, i've recalled more about my painting and how much time it takes, so i've abandoned my 1 Unit A Week goal, and instead shifted to a Time Spent approach. I spend an hour after work every day painting, and really try to keep myself at it.

I've got one hell of a backlog to get through, so i gotta knuckle down. There's... 100 Guardian Defenders alone that need paint...

ANYWAY, all 3 of the Dreadfleet ships are done. Curse of Zandri, The Black Kraken, and the Grimnir's Thunder. I'm going to wait until i have the whole set done, and tackle all the water at the same time to try and make it as consistent as i can.

I was about to say that the water seemed a bit dark, but then I noticed you're waiting on finishing it. The models look great to me otherwise!
