Capture of t
« on: March 12, 2007, 03:03:09 AM »
Alaitoc Rangers and Pathfinders had infilitrated deep into the wasteland of Tamar-1, and by dawn had occupied commanding positions in the buildings and woods of the Tamaran settlement. They had the disabled Defiler Thellanus, the daemon still entrapped within, zeroed in and had already summoned the rest of Farseer Lahnn's mobile vanguard.

In the tween-light of dawn, heavy sniper fire, combined with jetbike shuricat and shuricannons wiped out the Iron Warriors Havoc squad setting up a firebase right next to Thellanus. Not to be outdone, the Chaos siege specialists' return fire was awesome. A storm of heavy bolter, autocannon, earthshaker and havoc launcher fire finally wiped out the 2 Ranger squads holding the derelict Imperial outpost in the center of the field. Surviving units of the sniper advanced guard was not broken however and kept up their fire even as reinforcements arrived, holding on grimly to their assigned positions.

Alaitoc Fire Prisms, a Falcon, Vypers and jetbikes streaked onto the battlefield in concert, with Farseer Lahnn leading from the front. A powerful blast from the Fire Prism failed to penetrate the Chaos Land Raider's armor, though air ionized around the blast. The Falcon's stabs of las-fire blew out the Basilisk's drive train.

The Iron Warriors' own awesome firepower spoke again, immobilizing the Falcon and destroying its main weapon. Concentrated lascannon fire from the Land Raider only managed to temporarily shake the Fire Prism's crew.

In typical Eldar fluidity, Vypers streaked in on the left flank, supported by jetbikes in the center, gunning down the Iron Warriors squad in the center woods. Concentrated fire from Alaitoc snipers and Fire Prisms vaporized 3 Oblits. Farseer Lahnn's keen shining spear cut apart the Iron Warriors Predator

Sensing victory, the wily Farseer gunned his jetbike and streaked deep into enemy territory. Alaitoc Swooping Hawks finally appeared, and headed straight for the Land Raider, haywires primed. They were supported by the jetbikes, who gunned down yet another Obliterator en route.

Alas, the Hawks' haywires failed to destroy the armored behemoth, and both they and the jetbikes were assaulted by the angry mob inside. In the heat of the moment, Hawk Exarch Yerallai refused to rocket off to safety but fought on bravely (ok, i forgot to sky leap).

The Farseer received the attention of the last Iron Warrior squad, who failed to harm him with their guns. He then charged right at the immobilized Basilisk, shuricats blazing, blowing up the seige gun. The Iron Warrior squad was eventually cut down in a hail of scatter laser and shuricannon fire.

In revenge, 3 Vypers were shot down, while the Land Raider personally dealt with the tank-killing Farseer, refusing to allow him a hat-trick.

The battle had all but ended. The last obliterator was finally vaporized by a Fire Prism. Pathfinders holding the building on the right eventually succumbed to flamers from the Chaos assault squad. But those were in turn reduced to 1 warrior and the Lord by deadly Prism and sniper fire.

At day's end, the Alatioc held the field, with 2 Fire Prisms, a Vyper and a Ranger squad holding the objective. The capture of this particular daemon Thellanus is rewarding indeed, for this fool of the warp will revearl many a secret of the Great Enemy.
