1750 Point Farsight Enclave Contingent
« on: February 28, 2017, 09:17:29 AM »
Been messing around with the Tau, lately, and I've been trying to break out of my usual list. Initially my assessment of the Farsight Enclaves was pretty negative (their Signature Systems suck), but maybe I've been hasty.

Anyway, here's my list idea:

Tau Dawn Blade Contingent
Retaliation Cadre
Commander w/Fusion Blades, Flamer, Shield Generator, Stim Injector

3 Crisis Suits w/Fusion x2, Target Lock, Bonded, 1x Shield Drone
3 Crisis Suits w/Plasma x2, Advanced Targeting System, Bonded, 1x Shield Drone
3 Crisis Suits w/Missile Pod x2, Flamers, Bonded, 1x Shield Drone

2 Broadsides w/Hvy Railrifles, Counterfire Defense System, TL-Plasma Rifles, Bonded

Riptide w/Ion Accelerator, Smart Missiles, Early Warning Override, Bonded

Counterstrike Cadre
6 Pathfinders, Bonded
--in Devilfish w/Smart Missiles

Strike Team x8 w/Rifles, Bonded
--in Devilfish w/Smart Missiles

Strike Team x8 w/Rifles, Bonded
--in Devilfish w/Smart Missiles

Strike Team x8 w/Rifles, Bonded
--in Devilfish w/Smart Missiles

Points: 1749
Models: 47
Hull Points: 12
Wounds: 62

Basically, the Fusion Suits (the "Sunforges," to use the old term) are for taking down heavy armor or hardened targets, the Burning Eyes (Plasma) are for elite infantry and also for sniping out special weapons, characters, etc. The Deathrains (Missiles) are for transport and light-vehicle murder. The Broadsides are ranged support for the Burning Eyes or Deathrains, as need dictates. The Riptide murders elite infantry, the Firewarriors and Devilfish kill hordes, and the Pathfinders mark something on the first turn and then immediately die, as is their time-honored tradition.

I'm very much liking the Dawn Blade Contingent's special rules (selecting a target for death is very, very handy) and think it couples well with the Low Altitude Insertion rules for the Retaliation Cadre. Sucks I have to burn 42 points on stupid Bonding, but hey, a tax is a tax.

Thoughts? Things I should add? Take out?
