2012: Suggestions, Comments, Bugs
« on: January 4, 2012, 04:01:28 PM »
I noticed that with the new site I can't see the "new posts to threads you've responded in" link in the Android browser. Actually, the entire bar at the top is just Grey, even when expanded. Has anyone else noticed this? Or is mobile support not a big concern? I rarely browse the Internet on a laptop anymore, and in fact am typing this from my phone right now.

I realized now that it isn't just the Android browser but Chrome as well. Fixing the problem in chrome may fix the android browser problem...

Awesome! Fixed on Chrome and the Android mobile browser :). And I totally believe you that they were in the wrong. I usually use Firefox, but it really has been slow for me lately so I was trying Chrome (again). It's for reasons like this that I always switch back to FF.

I noticed since the whole sopa thing appeared on the site that the site has become 1 slower and 2 (the last 2 weeks) I cannot get on the site between 1-2 am Paris time (it just keeps loading).

I had the same problem, but it seems to have cleared up for the time being.

I've also had problems with the forum index refusing to load intermittently between 1500-1800 GMT for the last few days.  Also, when it fixes itself, the forum index fonts increase in size again as per the bug when the site was updated a while back.

It's all a bit odd, as it behaves normally at all other times.

The site seems to keep re-sizing.
The actual boards, topics,  forum and home pages keep changing, even after I change it to a different size.
It isn't anything major just slightly annoying

btw I use chrome.

well, I hate to say it...   but, get a real browser.

Seriously, I'm sick of the problems with Chrome (and they are problems with Chrome, not with the site)

I'm not exactly sure what you're seeing, since I can't replicate anything which even comes close to matching your description with IE, FF or Opera.

Been using Chrome with no problems, especially the resizing robo mentioned. Robo, try restarting your browser/comp/emptying your cache?

Kindred, I know you're not going to like this, but you do realize Chrome is the second most popular browser behind IE, don't you? It's way easier to make amphetamine parrot work for Chrome than IE :)

May be getting too technical, but I'm not quite sure what you mean here. You mean CSS that renders properly in FF and IE doesn't render properly in Chrome? As a geek I'm interested to know of some examples, perhaps PMs are a more appropriate medium for this conversation though.

It seems to come and go, so it might be chrome.
Just thought I should mention it.

Straker,

I question those statistics.

IE is popular because, well, it comes with Windows...  That being said, IE10 subscribes to web standards much more than any previous version. Which means that "designing for IE" is no longer such a problem.

and yes...  chrome screws things up

The server problem around 18:00 - 19:00 GMT appears to be back, the last two days I have had significant problems loading any 40konline page during different interims in this time slot while other pages have had no problems what so ever, today it appeared closer to 19:00 and lasted for about 10 minutes. :(
