I wish that those stats could be made more relevant as most of the names in the lists haven't posted on this site for years. I would much prefer to see stats that relate to the people that are actually contributing to this site.

There are some great contributors on that list, so even though a great many of them are no longer active, their contributions were immensely valuable, so it's right that they should be recognised by the forum statistics.

And I didn't mean to imply otherwise. I just said I wish some of the stats could show me something about the current posters. Seeing the likes of Hymirl, Rasmus & FMG in the lists tells me nothing about the current state of this site.

Ah well, lies, damn lies and statistics as they say.

Is that a reference to one of lies that I was on about? Most accidents happen in the home so nothing safe about staying indoors

Of those stats, I'd say the least important is the one that chronicles time spent online.  You can rig that to your advantage by leaving the website open in its own browser for two years if you want to catch up to Rummy.  All it counts is the time your account is logged in.  I've been with this website since 2002 and I close the browser after I am finished; I've only logged 123 days worth of time in all those years.

The most important stat for users, in my opinion, is the most topics started.  I believe half of those people are still mostly active.

The website has been around in this form for 15 years, add in the time of EldarOnline before that and there are bound to be some impressive numbers.  Hell, we've technically been around longer than Warseer, but that's only because it was originally known as Portent...

Actually, you have to be active every 15 mins or so or the counter stops updating and the server considers you logged off. That's why people with long drafts get upset as the work can be lost if you're not careful with your time management.

Many moons ago, prior to the advent of smart phones and when dinosaurs roamed the earth, there were many overnight projects requiring regular monitoring but with plenty of faff around time inbetween. You'd be surprised how much online time you can rack up during 12-16 hr shifts.

Even when the forums were at their busiest, I don't recall there ever being a need to be that active on the boards lol.  At some point you must have been going through topics you've already read.

That and also researching and drafting Discussion Board posts during the Troublesome Times.

Ah yes... the Troublesome Times.

Which were those again?  You may have to be more specific?

2002-2008 I believe. With parts of 2001 and 2009, to be more specific. For those who liked the rules being fast and loose go way back in the Discussion threads and see people losing their amphetamine parrot on a very regular basis.

Edit: Narrowed the year range. Old age, memory issues, prophecies of the ancients.

Reviewing lots of army lists and articles also meant a lot of time spent online ;).

I just said I wish some of the stats could show me something about the current posters. Seeing the likes of Hymirl, Rasmus & FMG in the lists tells me nothing about the current state of this site.

The current state of the site is partially reflected by the stats at the bottom of the link I posted.  There's no way to highlight only active members on that page by default though.
