Whoa Calamity, that Loonshrine is some of the best looking painted rock I have seen on here. Excellent stuff.

Thank you guys, I really appreciate that.  :)

I’ve made some more progress:

All I have to do now is paint and attach all the extra stuff, the big ‘shrooms, the cage etc.  I’ll finish this thing one day lol.

Also I have a bit of a dilemma.  You guys see the entrance, and the ground around the back?  How it’s a cleaner, brighter shade than the sides?  Does that look right?

It matches the bases of the troops exactly, but to me it looks weird when compared to the walls.  Which to me means it might need a wash of earth-shade to make it match…but if I do that then it’s possible I might have to go over the entire army with a coat of earthshade on their bases…what do you guys think?  :-\

I think it's fine @calamity! It just looks like a different type of rock exposed along the floor of the Loonshrine.

I don't think anyone would notice or complain about it, looks like a piece of art to me  :).

Great work!

I think it looks great. You being the artist will be the biggest critic, know what i mean?. I think its colors are spot on just from the photos. Wish i had one but i did finally buy me a box of squighoppers.

Oh nice!  I look forward to seeing the finished results!  :)

I’ve also made much more progress:

The shrooms are (mostly) painted and attached.  Now just to touch up what needs touched up and then work on the cage and the skeleton.  Nearly there.  ;D

Thank you magenb!  Those are two elements I was a little worried about so it’s good to hear they turned out ok.  :)

Thanks guys much appreciated!

I’m also happy to report that the shrine is finally done!

I just want to say that the cages, especially the one with the skeleton in it, where an absolute be-atch to put together and might possibly fall off or apart at a later date.

But in the meantime I’m pondering adding a glow effect around the eyes to enhance their aura.  Maybe a wash of green around the rock?  What do you guys think?

Hey guys, got a little update.  I’ve made a bunch more squigs and trolls which I’ll show you ASAP.  But in the meantime, I’ve got an inch for old school dwarves that just had to be scratched, so I went and got a bunch.  I don’t know what will come of them but I’m making them lol.

Here’s the first unit finished:

Now the thinking here was to do something a bit different and try to make unique but still recognisable ‘regular’ dwarf warriors, so these are hammerers fitted out with hand weapons and given iron breaker shields (because they’re smaller and more generic looking than the longbeard shields).

The initial plan was to vary them a bit but I never realised that they had actual hammers in their beards.  Thus the hammer theme became too strong and so I embraced it lol.  I plan to do the same with an ‘axe’ themed clan.

And that’s not all.  I’m also making more elite versions with thick armour, by combining ironbreaker/warden bits with those nice big longbeard shields.  You can see the first of those here:

Notice also the early prototype regular.  That axe was soon swapped lol.

I have no idea what will ultimately become of these but I think it’s nice to have something to work besides goblins, marines and overlords.  Keeps things interesting lol.

Yup, having many different armies to work on is nice and frustrating too. Have fun with the stunties, i miss mine.

looking good.
Nothing wrong with a bit of variety, it gives you a chance to play with other colours and technics.

Too many damn elves these days, am I right?  ;D

Thank you!  They’re a sweet kit and they hold up very well.

My thoughts exactly.  I like to mix things up lol.

I’ve also just finished the beefed up Ironbreakers:

Blue tac holds the shields for the minute.  I hope this kitbash has been a success lol

Looks pretty successful to me. Speaking of elves, i got my idoneth out last night and started assembly on them. Ive only had them for awhile now so it was time. Have fun painting your dwarves.

Hi guys!  Sorry for the complete absence of activity of late, had a lot going on there, but I’m back again!  ;D

So what have I got to show?  I’m hurriedly painting up some more squigs and trolls for a tournament this Saturday (first one in 3 years) along with a gobbaplooza, and I’ve also decided to get into Blood Bowl with a dwarf team!

Apologies for the crap lightening, fixing that tomorrow.  I do aim to make regular updates again, so expect more asap.  :)

Then my brother came over and he grabbed my night gobbos and my heart lit up. My gobopaloza is almost painted, been working on them a looong time. Then i come here see your post and now i want to paint on them. So thanks for posting again even tho your a bad influence( hahaha) but they need to be done. 8)

How did the tournament go Cap? Hopefully those Squigs did you proud and went om nom all over the place.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the Blood Bowl Dwarves. They're a cool looking team. I need to pick one up (I have the colour scheme and most of the name figured out...I just need less of a pile of shame to justify buying them!).

The trolls are my favorite additions, but everything is progressing well!

Such a large army, I feel like you've been painting these guys for so long now!

Keep it up!
