Hmmm....i don't know any way how this can happen.

Eventually your opponent just used chosen with lots of weapon upgrades, which made them look like havocs.

If you give Havocs a Mark of Chaos other than Undivided, then they count as Elites. Pg 38 under "The Force Organisation Chart".

AND the mark has to be different from the mark of your lord.

I stand corrected, i had assumed that only troops are affected by that FOC category shift if they get a mark.

However...

Imagine this army:
Lord with MoU or MoN

Elites: Three squads of havocs with MoS

Troops and Fast Attack as usual

Heavy Support: Three squads of havocs with the Lord's mark, or whatever else heavy support choices (defilers...)

Even Iron Warriors will have a hard time to match this firepower!

Yep, that's right. Although it'd be as expensive as heck, so there may yet be less shootiness than IWs.

No, if your going that way you would never take three squads with MoS.  You would want three Obliterators.

To tell you the truth, I was deeply disappointed with my Slaaneshi Havocs.  They weren't that effective and only killed about 7 scouts and a dread.

Slaaneshi Havocs don't have to use noise weapons.
Just treat such a unit like a normal squad of marines (eventually equip them with a rhino) which got an option to have more special weapons.
As an alternative, the daemon prince could have the mark of slaanesh, and the havocs can be used with the mark of nurgle if you don't want them to use anything else than plasma weapons, meltas and flamers.
