Robin Williams came to my LGS today
« on: October 14, 2009, 12:30:01 AM »
Went to the front from theorycrafting a sisters/IG list to see what was going on... found Robin Williams there chatting it up some star struck store workers.

He liked Eldar :D

He likes Eldar?
But what does he play?

Did he start making viagra jokes?

Who's the crazy looking guy next to Williams?  Are you that crazy extra in the Crank movies?
___________

Seriously though: always nice to get pics as evidence.
+1 Awesome for you.

My 7 Cents.
If you meet a bear named Sanctjud in the tavern, don't get into his van for candy.  I did once....it's sticky, salty, and really not very nice. :(
Raptor Jesus will get you Tangi... oh he will.

I've... never even seen the Crank movies.

I think he said he had like 5 armies or so. Dunno, was too busy fumbling for words to say to really commit things to memory.

Thats awesome. I had an encounter with him once. I used to be a manager at an HMV (music/movies retailer) many years back and he popped in. He asked me to show him our Anime section, lol.

Ya...wierd.

Totally doesn't surpise me that he is into tabletop strategy games. When talking to him I got the feeling he was a closet nerd...

I knew Robin Williams was/is a fan of tabletop games but this is the first time I actually see photo evidence of it.

Yeah he is, the guys in my store were talking about it a few weeks back, apparently he gave himself his own intro game, voices and all. I say gave himself, the guy giving it to him was laughing too hard.

I've heard a few famous people are into WarHammer, Vin Diesel being amongst them, but i've no proof of the last one.

He purchased something or another, but he was just dropping in during an early afternoon time where it was just a couple nonstaffers there. It was kind of funny, after he left everyone scambled to take a look at the receipt from the purchase just to make sure it was really him.

Especially since he lives in San Fran and this was in Durham N.C. o__o

Wow.  Normally, I'm not a fan of celebrity, but that had to have been a great time!

Oh, and by the way, Vin Diesel does like D&D, he wrote the introduction to the 20th or 25th anniversary coffee table book a few years back.

The kicker for the Minnesota Vikings is a big 40K fan. For a while, he kept a very beautifully painted Nid army at my LGS, including a Trigon and Barbed Hierodule.

I would love to play against or watch Robin Williams play a game of 40K! Him doing all the crazy voices would be so hillarious.
Ziltoid is so omniscient, if there were to be two omnisciences, he would be both!

Robin Williams plays/played 40k a lot with Billy Crystal, they do voices for all their figures as they move and fire them. Apparently it's absolutely hilarious to watch.

Some other celebrity geeks:
Vin Diesel is indeed a huge D&D fan
Asia Carrera is a massive Unreal Tournament fan and has created mods and skins for the game
Julia Sawalha (the daughter in Absolutely Fabulous) once came into the Cambridge GW store when I was running it and asked me for a painting lesson.
Brian May used to get VIP tickets to Games Day UK because his son was a huge GW fan.

One of you should make yourselves useful and re-insert the 40k info about Williams onto Wikipedia.  Upload the picture and a caption, as well.
