I was left with uneasy dreams, and when I woke, I noted them in this gem so that you may share them, and perhaps my wisdom can guide you away from the Darkness.

Slowly I stir in sleep, dreams covering my eyes and ears with soft songs of longing and praise to the old days, the runes humming softly on my chest.

But soft, what is this stirring I feel?

I am awake, looking about, my senses cast forth amongst the shadows of the early morning, yet no sign of the rising sun is yet in evidence. I send a call forth, rousing my two companions, and send them out, their hands and senses stretched out before them to the rock where we sleep. I stand, gripping the hilt of my Witchblade, feeling it waiting to be drawn, but I will wait. I turn my head, and see the grave face of the Exarch. He looks at me, as if he has been waiting for me.

They will come. From the darkness, I know not from which direction. I will leave, and rouse my Avengers, and the rangers. I just nod and he disappears into the darkness. Ian-mor, my companion has now got his Chosen to their feet, the soft rustling of armour echoing through the night as Ulwarke, my brother Seer, returns from his excursion into the darkness, reporting that They are coming, slowly, towards us. We ready ourselves, and I can hear the soft hiss from the Rangers as they power up their rifles, the runes of silence and accuracy slowly bringing themselves to force on them.

And so, in a scream that chills my brethren's blood, they are upon us. From the darkness they swoop, blades flashing, grinning in mad glee as they sweep towards us, eight of them on their sleek travesties of jetbikes, right into the Avengers and the Exarch. I hasten my hands and mind, casting the runes of fortune and guide onto our warriors, and watch them fire with unnerving accuracy, taking down bodies in the darkness beyond the screaming jetbikes. They are here now.

I sense three distinct groups of their Dark Warriors, and another on a transport, as well as the screaming jetbikes and their leader, an Archon. My mind flutters over his, and he is unaware of me, and I feel his desire, his hatred, and I know his plans. They have come not to kill but to capture, enslave us all. I cast my voice forth, ordering the rangers to move on their ridge, to get closer, for in the darkness they are blind. Avengers haste into moving, around the bend of the rock where we stand, and the Chosen Defenders do the same, lead by Ian-Mor, his power at work now, feeding might into a concealing mist of energy around all of them. I rush to the top of the rock, followed closely by Ulwarke, as I sense the fall of blood, the Avengers shooting at the Dark Kin once again.

The Dar Kin strike back, but they are unfocused, uncertain, surprised even that we dare oppose them. Their fire is no mighty as ours is, and now the dawn approaches, soon we can call for our Brothers and Sisters to aid us. They need to finish this now.

Their transport moves around the rock and the Chosen stand their, and let loose their fire on it. I hear the hail of shurikens bounce of the armour, and so, I sense a shift in the machine, and it comes crashing to the ground, digging the shallow grave for its passengers. I hear them scream as I charge into combat with the jetbikes, my Witchblade and Ulwarke's slashing into them. They are quick, though, and I feel Ulwarke falling to the ground, bleeding. I run for it, and they chase me, but in the darkness they can not find me.

I find them though, and I feel their Leader moving, and I want him. I feel their Hatred in me, and I check myself, and see, in the dawns first light the Avengers falling under the fire from the warriors all around them, and the jetbikes shoot over me, into the space on the other side of the rock, and the remaining Avengers, mourning the loss of their Exarch, give chase. I can hear the battle commencing as I focus on their leader. The Chosen are moving up now, cutting down anything in their path, and the jetbikes flee, chased and cut down by the Avengers, and we concentrate on the leader of this raiding-party. I hear him curse, and he slips back into the darkness where he came from. We turn, and let the Sorrow, and Wrath, and Vengeance ring out over the last warriors, cutting them down with a deadly crossfire between the Chosen, and the remaining Avengers.

Dawn comes, and the ground is littered with bodies, souls being consumed by She-Who-Thirst as I and Ulwarke, now back on his feet and limping from his injuries check our wounded, and take he soulgems from those who will not be coming back with us.

I feel the air move, and the Gate open, and we know we are safe. Our Brothers and Sisters are here, and we will gather is sad songs over our lost warriors now.

But we will track the Dark Kin down, and kill them all!
