Necrons VS Harlequins

Harlequins hiding behind walls on their side.
Monolith behind squad of 15 troopers.

Turn 1 - Harlequins
The Harlequins wait behind the walls for the approaching enemy.

Turn 1 - Necrons
The troops and Monolith advance forward.

Turn 2 - Harlequins
A Death Jester Begins to fire at the Monolith, but its living armor makes it very difficult to destroy.

Turn 2 - Necrons
The army advances further and unleashes a hail of fire upon my Death Jester killing him quickly.  He also fires at the wall protecting my force, but only further damages it.

Turn 3 - Harlequins
I move the army up along the walls so when they come down they are ready to rush forward.

Turn 3 - Necrons
The Monolith and troopers move back, and then shoot the wall again destroying it.

Turn 4 - Harlequins
The squad of Harlequin behind the now destroyed wall rushes forward, fires a couple of fusion pistol shots, killing two Necrons, and assaulting, in which another Necron is killed.

Turn 4 - Necrons
The Monolith moves back and teleports the Necrons away from close combat with the Harlequins.  The newly teleported soldiers open fire and kill the squad of Harlequins.

Turn 5 - Harlequins
The Solitaire assaults the sqaud of Necrons bringing down eleven!

Turn 5 - Necrons
The Monolith again moves back and teleports the Necrons back to it.

Turn 6 - Harlequins
Seeing the futility of the situation, the Solitaire and the rest of the Harlequins flee the field rather than be eventually wittled away and killed.

My thoguhts on the battle:
I definately need to tailor an army for Necrons (advice for that would be appreciated) and would have been wise to take missile launchers rather than Brightlances.  The Monolith was a very powerful article in this battle, and if it had been left out I think I would have won.

My army for this battle was:
ShadowSeer
-D-Field
-Shuriken Pistol/Bio Ammo
-Powerblades/Kiss

Solitaire
-D-Field
-Shuriken Pistol/Bio Ammo
-Powerblades/Kiss
-Haywire and Tanglefoot Grenades

2 Death Jesters
-2 Brightlances

2X 5 Harlequins
-2 Fusion Guns
-2 Harlequins Kisses

I think that you could do well with the Mockingbird, actually. The auto-glance-ability will seriously hinder the Monolith.
Good luck. The Necrons are tough.

I know. That bit truly bothers me. However, it isn't too bad unless the Monolith is facing your way. Then they get to step out and start shooting at your directly.

Its a nice ability for a 235 point vehicle. That teleport is about the best part of the monolith.

Hmmm... Wasn't trying to hand out copyrighted material - just trying to explain how the monolith is SUPPOSED to work since his opponent seemed a bit confused on how they play.  ???

Fear not the death brothers, for she is old and slow, and will never catch the Windrider host.

You can equip both on a character - you just can't use both effects for the same attack.

A comment on your game - you might have actually won! The Necrons will phase out once they lose 12 warriors. You mention killing 14 necrons but don't mention how many come back. Also, your DJs are better spent knocking off warriors instead of trying to damage the Monlith.

Yeah, I might have, next time I'll try to strategize more for that army.

That is a good way of getting rid of the Monolith: Don't shoot it!
Shoot everything else, and it will be caught in the backwash of phase-out, and disappear.

You need to ignore the Monolith.
Bypass this d*** thing and charge. This is what I'm
doing with my Wych Cult.
Try to assault more than one unit at once. When the
d*** teleports out one unit, you are still in CC with
another unit.

You need transports to bypass the Monolith.
I think your army list contains too less models to phase
out the Necrons.

You were able to hide behind a wall?  That's pretty
unusual for a 'real' fight.

It was a 700 point battle so I couldn't put in a lot of guys.  As for the wall tactics, what I'll do is place walls at my side of the board so I can have protection from shooting, and I'll have DJs step to the side sop they can shoot down the field, and the opponnent will eventually have to come down, unless the DJs die, then I gotta charge out.
