Well it now begins. Thanks to Cavalier inspiring me, I shall commence work on my own army. I'll start with my blasts from the past. I've had them a long time and get to utilize them along with my firestorm conversion. I will pics as I come up with them. Now I need to come up with a cool name for them.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20151220_123557_zpsp4gmryqv.jpg&hash=22d1ecdc83472c56305a2da7b459e9cb3738d092)

And it begins with a freaking bang! Damn man you're all geared up for Corsair action. I'm super jealous of your vehicle collection... Are you gonna rock these colors you've got here or do something different? I know you were toying with new paint schemes awhile back. Either way its gonna rock. Can't wait to see where this goes!
-
Thanks bud. I've already got so much done with that scheme so if it ain't broke, ya know.
Forgot this lil puppy earlier.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20151220_155153_zps660ohu07.jpg&hash=73c258f5fb9badd52eac73dd8561054d27f133a5)

I love the scheme Dread. It's very alien and exotic. Perfect for the eldar! :)
-
Right on man. I think it works very well. Its very wild and vibrant perfect for Corsairs. I'll never forget the first time I saw that scheme on an Eldar Vyper in the White Dwarf where Sisters debuted (and my old store owner won 2 Golden Demons!) I've loved it ever since. Right on!
-
Thanks as always guys. This is the scheme I've been using since 2nd edition. The idea was the cooling of lava from white hot to red cooling down. The crack effect is bigger on the white to show slower cooling down and smaller at the back for more.
-
I've always liked that red to yellow part of your colour scheme. It's somewhat reminiscent of that GW's painters used for the original Fire Dragon Exarch in the old Alaitoc studio army. I like a bit of nostalgia now and again :).
-
Thanks. Hopefully I will get to some more over the holiday. I started my prince. He is the custom model I made for Baron Sathonyx and will count as jet pack. Also loving this scheme on a DE and have some reavers bike set up to put dark lance on then they will get the treatment. Until the Merry Christmas!
-
Got a lot going on. Wanted to show my work area.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20151226_000615_zpsiyvvetzm.jpg&hash=ca82f17527bbcc1e415623378f578440495bbd87)
-
That does look very cluttered, but in a very good way. The Nightspinner is the stand out for me. The colour of the monofilament weaponry contrasts very well with your colour scheme.
-
Looking very nice Dread. The bikes are looking killer and it looks like your army is very quickly taking shape! Any idea on how you are going to kit-out your bikes? I've got a couple of lists in the works... nothing special on mine yet but I'm very interested in mounting a bright lance or two on them. Any thoughts on the various options?
-
Thanks Irisado, I still have work to do on it but I've always liked that blue.
Cavalier I'm gonna make 4 reavers bikes with dark lances, bits left over from my razorwing to void raven kit bash. Glued one last night to see how it looks and really like it. The ones I've started are Las and shur cannon.i got 3 for Christmas that in gonna mix reavers parts with to mix it up. Maybe some splinter cannons, I think that's an option.
I will update soon, until then, have a great time.
-
Your army will look awesome on a fully painted gaming table. :)
-
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20151227_212938_zpsyysdqenr.jpg&hash=771152c330d641884bb04eef43089a715d1ef448)
Now see Cav, all that time I was going nuts for a paint scheme on my DE, I should have just used my Elder scheme. I would of had so much painted now.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20151227_212959_zpscmmwwsb0.jpg&hash=3a01aa64df13a4bcf7f109328d00f8677e95e65e)
Some other beginnings...
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20151227_213015_zpsgrkgiwwe.jpg&hash=10960348317fc68761da2a1c7741bf2b026696ef)

Looking very good Dread. The metallics on the jetbike are pretty crazy! I hear ya on unifying the look of your DE with your Eldar. I'm really reaping the benefits now as I can run my kitbashed Wyches and counts-as Harlies as Malevolents or Voidstorm squads.
Two questions: Are you adding Crimson Death to your force? If so you cheesy.... just kidding I'm going to add it to mine as well! Also what are the falcon hulls for? More Nightspinners?
Your making great progress Dread and doing it in style. Keep it up my man I can't wait to see this army hit the table!
-
Thanks. They are fire prisms. The metallic is going away to sport the scheme. Its just crazy doing that to the DE but it works so perfect.
-
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20160115_155314_zpsqfpchmi2.jpg&hash=fbcd5e97b2862f72de02a3976ab2c3af8ada430b)
So today got guardians and storm upgrade. I've had the wyches for awhile. Now with these and my bits box, I should be able to do some cool kit bashing. Pics soon
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20160115_194308_zpsmn6bjftv.jpg&hash=edffa17cc2bc58c57164b6949b38cd9421a24c76)
Digging through boxes today and found these. Built them years ago.
-
Hell yeah! Perfect pick-up Dread. Those Dark Eldar warrior and Wych kits go a LONG way. Hold on to every little bit because you never know when you'll need them. I seriously love the Wych kit, those running legs can make any model go from static to dynamic. Whats the first unit you're gonna make? Voidstorm, Malevolents?
Love the old school stormies. I buy up those Eldar powerfists whenever I can on ebay they are seriously my favorite eldar bit of all time. Anytime I get the chance to incorporate one (as Agonizers or Scorpions claw) its a special day for my army. Heheheh I love this stuff... anyway Dread looking great my man can't wait to see what unit you are gonna make!
-
And so, been working on other things, and thought I would post some pics as per Cavs rrequest. Also Cav, I found lots more elder flame and meltas and power fists in my bits so you will be seeing lots of those soon with kit bashed wyches, guardians and converted hellions used as corsair jetpack troops. For now my Imperial Knights with skitarii allies.

I wanted to be able to change weapons out so came up with a way to interlock without magnets. I cut out tabs on shoulder joint and weapon and press and turn viola.

Awesome AdMech army Dread! :)
-
Wow excellent, excellent stuff Dread. That Knight with turqouise plating is freaking INCREDIBLE. Such an eye-catching execution on that paint job and the posing is really menacing. The Magos is really nice too, ultra clean execution and super nice weathering on the robes.
Also love the bits my man. Those 2nd ed Eldar bits are my favorite bits of all time.
Anyways great stuff man, awesome to see the new army. Keep it up Dread I love it.
-
Not a lot to update but here is some progress pictures.

-
Rockin man. The checkers on the sword are awesome. Love the bright vivid colors they relly really pop while still remaining grimdark. Do you use the purple as the base for the Warplock Bronze?
-
Nope, just lighter shades of purple. The trim will be silver but the w bronze might look better trim wise. Thanks
-
I really like the highlight effect on the top one, it looks so natural, somehow. I can't ait to see the other one painted like that too. It looks great!
-
You've done a really good paint job on the knight. :)
-
Here's a little update...
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20160422_162028_zpsfpuocrfg.jpg&hash=2db84d8271df555c33e123875e22150117a6a8da)

I've also been going back to my eldar some. Its always nice that they , GW, gives us so many extras in the kits that sometimes you just wonder what to do with them. Some people ebay or trade but I just hold on to them. Then I get a spark and reserct some old falcon models and get out the mold putty and resin and the next thing ya know, another prism and night spinner.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20160422_043905_zpszzj2uqoh.jpg&hash=b5cf8a86a69206caed1de6dbea64ccfc7982c6e2)
Also finally bought a void raven kit. Check this, mine that I converted years ago is 7n primer.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20160404_193642_zpsuhg6teqm.jpg&hash=f57db2b76482dc690b4a83dbba965817eba3a37b)
Until next time, happy gaming!
-
Damn thats a beastly cohort of Knights man. Like the weathering a lot. Although I think it would be sweet if bases could use some wreckage or debris of some sort. The new red and black Knight is looking particularly imposing.
Thats a huge mess of bikes you got there too! I really need to get a couple more bike kits so I can finish some of my units. I never buy enough at the outset.
The Void Raven thing is really crazy too. I like the longer lances on your converted one a lot more. They gave them stubby little lances on the VR and the Crimson Hunter and I really hate it. While the Void Raven is WAY over priced its actually a pretty decent unit IMO.
Anyway great stuff man and keep rolling with those Eldar!
-
Thanks as always. Even tho we don't play age of sukmar, I still have a small gaming group that still plays 8th ed fantasy. I still love the models and own several armies. Lately we started a campaign which got my juices flowing so started my conversion for my vamp lord on aabyessal terror. Here's the beginnings.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20160502_004651_zps2cawffsk.jpg&hash=09fdfb1789940c68b000a75c7bed4129a2f6b47d)

I've been looking at how the people behind the Ninth Age have updated Warhammer to see whether it has been made more streamlined. The army book for Vampire Counts looks quite promising, but I still need to read the core rules.
Speaking of things looking promising, your conversion looks as though it's going to be very good. I also like the idea of using the female Vampire Lord model in this conversion, as most vampires riding monsters or steeds have tended to be male, based on GW's previous preference for male vampire models. As a result, this has the potential to be a more original approach. I'm looking forward to see how this progresses.
-
Thanks Irisado. We've been talking about 9th age too. Have it downloaded but haven't read much yet.
So here they are as of right now. My conundrum is how to put them on the base. Should I use a coat hanger and drill holes? Use the long tail and Attach it to the side of one of the pedastals? Any suggestions are welcome. I have to do it tomorrow night because she will be in a battle Thursday night.
Also, I have all of the fulcrums from the storm of magic just collecting dust, so great fantasy base material. The new fantasy stuff only comes with round bases so thank goodness I have build your own movement tray left oversaw to use to make what I needed.

A little touch on the base.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20160503_154000_zpslystq5m2.jpg&hash=d15c8afe5e8064a047bdfcc6dbd17df94c4a00e6)
And Morganna...
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20160503_161726_zpsreihczfg.jpg&hash=29e0d99201129d13ba963e9328ad11dab969dd76)
Don't worry, she is magnetized for easy painting.
-
I was going to say that you would have a challenge on your hands with the painting until I read your last comment :D. I'd say that using the long tail to attach it to the side would look rather dramatic, but I'm not expert when it comes to modelling, so I don't know how easy that would be to accomplish.
-
It would be fairly easy and since the actual model is made to balance on the tail, well you know. However, the altered nid wings make it a bit heavier. I really don't want a black pole jutting up from the base so may go with the tail. Gonna ponder it and finish the rest tonight. I am so amped about this one, been in my head for awhile now. Good to finally get it happening even if it slows my paint and conversion work on corsairs and knights.
-
Wow, I don't know what it is... but its legendary! One of these days I'm going to get a fantasy army going the models are just too insane. Fantastic stuff Dread, very ambitious. Can't wait to see it finished!
-
Thanks. The break down is the Vampires Mortarch kit with hive tyrant wings, bits from the ghouls kit, her body and head is from the coven throne kit and a fulcrum for the base. Its a good thing to hang on to left overs, I have so much from both games, but you know that already. So now i have to get my tired butt in the hobby room and finish the build part. 8)
So I got my butt in there and here is the outcome. Whatcha think?
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20160504_175027_zpst4d9ywhy.jpg&hash=25735ec705d790903734f7add78e9d537c9edba3)

-
That looks really imposing and impressive. I think that balancing the model on the tail has worked out extremely well. The coat hanger wire would have looked out of place, so you've definitely made the right decision.
-
I cannot but agree. This stuff is awesomesauce!
-
Looking awesome buddy. I think you nailed it! What are you gonna do for basing?
-
Thanks guys! This is the long and thought out one.
As for the basing, I plan on gravel and stones with some tall grass growing in different spots. Out side the little cave entrance with the ghoul will be variuos bones from his prey and some bloody flesh looking deposits. May even be some other things but I don't want it to get to busy.
-

Looking really good Dread. That colour scheme of yours continues to work really well, and it seems that progress is advancing pretty quickly.
-
they look awesome in a goup like that, even those partially finished. It evokes an idea of what is to come.
-
Damn bro you are rolling on those jetbikes! My lord I'm falling behind. They look great Dread glad to see your back to working on your Corsair.
Played any games with them yet? I still haven't Ive been living vicariously through Ibushi and he's crushing dudes.
Anyway great stuff man keep it up!
-
It's funny I had a post that was supposed to be with it. Thanks everyone, I have two games Wednesday each 750 each for a campaign start. May get a list set up with corsair's to build up 250 a week. My lynx will be there. Will try a bat rep aftr battles.
Brief enterlude from Eldar.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2Fdownloadfile-4_zpsxudflzmi.jpg&hash=7151be001736538e52c87fbcef9db965de6e4d1b)
Finally got my other ideas outta my head for this conversion.
-
That conversion appeals to my liking of the undead. It's looking suitably dark and very promising. I am looking forward to see how it turns out.
-
Lately I've been all over the place. Trying to do lots of different things. I get hyped about a model then get so far and stop. I know we all go thru this but now I've hit that that platu with an eldar model. The autarch with a banshee mask, been waiting forever so it could be WYSIWYG. Well, the waiting is over. I'm using my favorite second generation bansee, with new jetbike and autarch laser Lance. Here is the beginning pic.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20160614_212918_zps1deej7ka.jpg&hash=1385feacab8696b4d0947cf2226128f20b8c967c)
I feel like the banshee mask should be on a female so in my corsair's, she will be a princess.
-
I feel like the banshee mask should be on a female so in my corsair's, she will be a princess.
Nice idea, can't wait to see how she turns out :)

Oh hell yeah! Phenomenal work here Dread... holy crap. You got all the dang bits on there... I can't believe how good it looks. Must have been a royal pain to get it to hold together, no?
Man great, great job. I totally love it. Definitely keep us posted on this one.
-
Very awesome job. I love the profile you achieved. I can't wait to see it painted. Keep up the good work!
-
sweet. I like what you did with the extra cloth pieces too.
-
Thanks guys. Making a reality is fun. Cav,you're not wrong about glueing her together, whew!
I've been going thru some heart medication problems so my hands are a bit shaky right now but I couldn't wait to paint her.

-
That looks great Dread!
Lot of respect for you for putting it together too, as much as I love converting/kitbashing I absolutely hate working with Metal models!
-
Looking killer Dread. Having the pattern go all the way up the lance and onto the banner was a good call. The fade on the bike itself is really nice too. Very cool basing to boot. You've got yourself a really great Autarch, congrats man now get that sucker on the tabletop slaughtering fools!
-
Thanks. I agree with the metal model thing. I don't like 'em either but since no plastics yet and all the metal banshee I have, made it work.
Had to cancel my game the other night so hopefully Monday night she will make her debute. Cav, I hope I remember to take pics so can do a bat rep.
-
that would be nice... bat rep! bat rep! bat rep!

-
Awesome conversion. Can't wait to see that sick model with paint on it.
-
This is gonna be a quick one for sure. My brother and a friend are about to start up quest and she'll be there. Now to name her, hmmm?!
-
That model looks so sweet! I can't wait to see it painted! :)
-
Just a little update. My only time to paint is so limited right now but I get 10-20 minutes here and there.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20160712_010957_zps4im01shx.jpg&hash=1adaaef3dee7b11d85c493b0377a72549cbc7984)

-
Looking good as always buddy. What is that mini on top of the dragon head? That thing is epic!
Glad to see some paint on that crazy dragon-creature too. That thing is such a monster.
Good stuff as always bud, especially considering your limited time. Keep it up!
-
She is called a bloodweaver night witch from Warmachine. I haven't looked at that line of models in a long time but when I saw her at the store, I thought perfect for my barbarian in our quest game we're about to start. Also wanted her to be kinda majestic, noble, strong and the dragons head just really made sense. Just as excited about her as my vamp on her ride but easier and faster to paint.
-

Been away for a bit. Working on Corsairs. I have a squad of 7 cloud dancers ready. Took a little work but was able to make transfers for my units.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20160907_023754_zpsagm3ykun.jpg&hash=dca300f8eccf3fdebca6645b466f0b83fa9976ac)
-
They look sick Dread! Glad to see you back buddy. Love the scheme, the modelling and the transfer. Been dying to model up some Dark Lance bikers too.... should be rad.
Great stuff bud, glad to see you back
-
very nice Dread, light colours on custom decals/transfers is tricky to get right.
-
Those transfers are great Dread, can't wait to see the finished product. Good job!
-
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20161007_103029_zpssxjihwpa.jpg&hash=8db04006a2dcf7274e95b2485986542b0468b355)
Just have some touch ups on them and finish the bases. Still not 100% on the transfers. I did some others first just in white but didn't like them. The bikes I really want a stealth look and the symbol to stand out to show the dragons attack, like striking fear into the enemy.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20161007_103046_zpszr3uk2au.jpg&hash=8bd13923bdf627b68c22046001a264b4b91c795f)
-
Looking good from here. I love the colour palette you chose. The transfers look pretty good from here. I especially like how they look on the completed bases. I remember Cav commenting on how some people paint their clear flying bases and it really works here. Keep up the great work!
-

It's been awhile since I've been able to sit and build anything. I've been needing one more shadow seer for my Harliquins and having two of the static poses already, I started this one. Let the glue dry and a little putty work I will be able to field Cegoach's revenge.
-
That's beautiful work Dread. I like the spell casting pose in particular.
-
Oh that is sick! Man that is sooooooooo awesome. So eerie yet alluring... all things Eldar. Killer work bud I'm absolutely loving it!
-

Now a few touch ups and ready for primer. I know shadowseers have a blank mask but this one just screamed it to me.
-
Looking killer buddy! Love the flame base... with your experience doing the "fire fade" I'm sure you'll nail it.
Also thanks so much for your kind words on my p-log bro, I really appreciate it. I'll get back to you later today... got a cool hobby update want to include it with. Anyway keep it up, glad to see you back on here! 8)

Almost done. A little touch up and getting up the nerve to tattoo her, so tiny I'm scared.
-
Spectacular hair colour and the glowing blue eyes look very imposing. She's looking really good so far.
-
Looking really good bro. Very eerie, love the color of the mask and the glowing eyes are a perfect touch! Wouldn't have thought of that myself. Really think this is a great job bud. Keep it up!
-
Phenomenal work Dread. The chequer pattern on the loin cloth is brilliantly executed and must have been a complete bugger to paint because of the folds. I like the way you have painted the leggings and hair as well. Everything about this model screams Harlequin.
What model have you used for this?
-
Thanks guys. The body is a dark elf sorceress, legs from dark eldar wych, the end of staff is a star boaloa end.
-
Fantastic work Dread. The posing of the mini is fantastic and the end result is just so dynamic as a result. I'm glad that you found such a good solution to the problem of static builds, it can do so much to bring an army to life. Loving the eyes as well!
Great stuff.
-
Thanks Looshkin. I have just a little left to do on her.
Now, you know how you start something a long while back and not perfectly happy with it. Well back when the 5th ed. DE codex came out I wanted a void raven so bad but only had a description of it and no model so I made my own. Wasn't real happy with the outcome even tho I had painted and finished it. Later I stripped it and worked the nose of over but not real satisfied. I took some plastic spoons and tried to create an upper and lower camopy, wouldnt work so put it up. Then at the beginning of this year I bought a kit for one. I assembled it up to the point the glass was all that was left...finally last night I figured it out what needed to be done. So got out the mold maker and resin and here are the fruits of my labor.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2F20161117_005412_zpsd4ds63ze.jpg&hash=deb073dc245f4842ab4dac7a94d3f12fcc450b26)

Now I can prime and repaint one of my favorite conversions I've ever done.
Small tidbit. Besides models and gaming, I'm a very active hotrod builder also. My latest is a 48 Chevy coupe. Here is one of my dash inserts...
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2F20161117_005502_zpsdzqbluwm.jpg&hash=02ef1501fbc7dc6ed16028f062e8a162566e1727)

So since painting is on a back burner for now, again, I couldn't help but get the new canoness model. I've tried thru the years to make one myself and finally, 2 years after I sold my army, they make her. So the little wheels in my head started spinning and my first add to my 5th and final AS army is this Exorcist. Not done yet, have to make dozer blade but anyhow here is the beginning.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2F20161218_125127_zps1fzavhng.jpg&hash=7f9cb7593feb61196076158635b0b460434048cb)

-
Wow thats crazy cool Dread. Did you make those bits yourself? They look excellent!
I want a sisters army so freaking bad! If my Dark Angels get any kind of ally its gonna be Sisters.
Sorry your hands aren't letting you paint the way you want to man... I truly am sorry about that bud. Maybe you could try your hand at an airbrush approach and just picking out critical details? I've seen people have a very minimalist approach to their painting that way and have tremendous results! I know you've probably had a million offers advice, but seriously bud I'm sorry you can't hobby the way you want to. Anyway bro I hope you have a great Christmas!
Also check out GW's facebook for some insights into the Sisters... you are gonna be stoked!
-
Thanks Cav. All the Ivory looking pieces are resin. I made molds years ago and now I get to use them again. As for my hands, I hope to see the doc pretty soon and find out what is what, arthritis I think but hope it is due to one of my meds. I really enjoy looking at everyone's work and tho I don't get to comment on a lot of them, it gives me a smile seeing the elevation that most acheive, whether simple basic colors or the deep intense shadowing and highlights. Watching those who keep one of my favorite hobbies alive.
-
That's an awesome conversion!
I've never been much of a fan of the organ pipes exorcist, always looked a bit stupid to me! I've seen a few with proper missile launchers like yours and they just look so much better 8)
-
Thanks AP. I feel the same way. The idea of the organ is a good one but I think it just really doesn't look right on the battle field, more like it belongs in a church house. A whirlwind style looks more battle worthy in my book and the launcher from the IK just screamed it to me.
-
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20170118_230312_zpsqmjp1fcm.jpg&hash=238768e5cf72fa7ab0d0f54d35ce5f2815dbfcbb)
I just couldn't wait. Oh boy, now if they'll make plastic phoenix lords.
-
Sick... that model is incredible. I was really tempted to pick up that set the other day. I've been trying to convince my brother to give some of these guys a whirl in his IG list... perhaps when I get the book he'll be convinced.
Anyway the model looks sick. Love the base too, can't wait to see it painted
-
Oh cool! Can't wait to see him painted up :)
Love the post-human concept behind the Ad Mech. It's like in the grim darkness of the 41st millennium...the Borg are the 'good' guys.
-
Such an awesome mini, and you've made it look double awesome with that cork base. Really elevates the model to 'F U' status!
I think I'm going to pick up the set of minis, as they're frankly awesome. I might have to do Cawl as about 12 sub assemblies though! So many fiddly bits!!
-
Thanks guys. About to prime him. And yup, lotsa bits and tiny too. Got ta find some skulls for the base, hmm my poor skeletons are about to be headless.
-

So as of late I've been pouring myself back into my art. My hands finally are not shaking as much so I've been going nuts drawing my ratrods. Soon i should be getting back to painting my minis.
-
Haha! Love it :) are you a bit of a car nut perchance? I muck about with old British piles of rust myself, which believe it or not is an even more expensive hobby than 40k! ;)
-
Wow, those are really cool Dread! You've got some real talent there, and I'm really pleased to hear that you're hands are getting better enough to let you do your hobbies. I can't even imagine how frustrating it must have been to not be able to do something that you so clearly have a passion for.
Really great work, I'm looking forward to when you can paint minis again!
-
Wow, they are really impressive Dread! I've always wished that I was more artistic, would love to be able to draw/paint like that!
-
Thanks guys. I am a hotrodder. I'm actually building a 48 Chevy coupe at the moment. I got her 2 and half years ago and shortly after went thru my cancer surgery. It's slow going plus dividing hobbies, family and work is a juggling act of its self.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2F20161029_162934_zps5cxf8hnp.jpg&hash=db7e3ec93b6498c93cdcc6f9ddc9bdafa66a5849)
This is how she looks now. The top drawing is what she will look like when I'm done.
-
Hey Dread, thats great news man! So glad to hear... it must've been super tough. I can't wait for you to get back to the hobby table. Fantastic!
Also love those pics man... and damn check out those wheels! So rad... please keep us updated on all fronts my friend. Also still sending the good vibes your way. Hope those hands get as close to 100% as possible ASAP!
-
Thanks Cav. Getting there, slowly but surely.
-
Sweet! That's going to be really cool when it's done :) not that it's not really cool now of course, I've always been more fascinated by a project car than the finished article anyway ;)
Here's what my Spit looks like at the moment: http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--DPrHBymU--/c_scale,fl_progressive,q_80,w_800/cd9nptismvxgsod0kisr.jpg (http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--DPrHBymU--/c_scale)
Completely stripped and on a home-made collapsible A-Frame :)
Being a hotrodder you might appreciate the general plan for this. 1.3l I4 out, 2.5l I6 in with a cam, porting and mechanical fuel injection. I also saw a thread somewhere where a chap welded the body of his Model A to the chassis and thought 'huh, why don't I try that', alongside welding on a steel hardtop. It's in the final stages of me boxing in the underside then the welding's done!
Back on topic, I've just taken a trip through the rest of your project thread (can't believe I hadn't done that before!) and I love your Corsairs :) Fantastic paint scheme, and the mix-and-match of CWE and DE bits is just right :)
Liking the Shadowseer floating above the ground too :)
Glad you're on the mend!
-
That's sounds like a nice set up, not to rumbly but just enough zip. The link wouldn't open for me, really want to see it tho. Thanks for all the compliments.
-
Thanks man :) yeah it should be a right little rocketship when it's done. Nice handling, and very quick as it'll only be ~750kg (~1650lbs)!
Odd how the link isn't working. How's this?

-
Oh wow, that's gonna be amazing. Keep me posted.
-
Shall do :) you too!
-
So it looks like I'm gonna get to do alot of art work for awhile. I'm on light duty again, this time I have a hernia. Getting old sucks. Anyhow here is a pic I did for a buddy of mine.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2F20170228_012056_zps79saqk5t.jpg&hash=44692db22db5a002b17a442370888fb4ce628f87)
-
Bummer :S hope you recover quickly! Must be very frustrating.
Still, if it means more awesome stuff like this latest dude then it's not all bad at all!

I decided it was time for Lelith. This is how far I got before my eyes blurred, she is so tiny. Just a bit more to finish.
-
She's looking really cool Dread. I love the colours that you've used - it really is a striking palette.
Also love the Confederate Flag that she's standing on ;D
-
That looks great Dread!
I was also thinking that that might be a Confederate flag ;) nice touch
-
Thanks guys! You're correct on the flag, just a little touch for fun, I know it wouldn't be in the 40k universe but hey, it works ;)
So now she is finished.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2F20170312_015014-1_zpsnwooxldq.jpg&hash=8b66257fd4a9a204a164cc49b277e5ad65c5fa2a)
A few years back I made a Lady Malys conversion and shortly after....gone, poof! So nessissity being the mother of invention, (can't afford models), I dusted her off and she is now Yvraine. Just started and now to find a cat of some kind...anyhow, here is the beginning.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2F20170312_015606-1_zps4kepowj4.jpg&hash=9436b96262f0bca0a162cb03f1a350451f384f72)
-
Looking very cool Dread. As Loosh said, I love the colors. I love how it has the bronze and then the green is sort of like patina look to it. Really cool!
-
Yeah i love the verdigree'd copper look on the armour :) nice job Dread!
I like the Malys conversion too. How did you make the fan?
-
I used the left over reaver jetbike blades and I believe it was a shard net arm.
-
Ah I see it now that you explain it :) very inventive indeed!
Also, are you BlackDeathStill over on The Dark City? If not, then someone likes your Lelith enough to be their avatar ;)
-
Yup that's me. Was BlackDeath and my account must have gotten hacked, couldn't get back into it so created that one. Thanks for that.
-
Hah :) that makes sense now you explain it ;)
-
So I decided to go all out on my Yvraine. Cutting and fitting bits from the vamp throne left overs to trail her dress. Don't mind the paint for now lots to do. Green stuff tomorrow night, primer by the weekend I hope.

-
Love that bit from the Vampire Throne... really cool. Should work perfectly!
-
Cloak's working beautifully with how you've attached it. Loving the giant kitty too! :D
-
Hehe yup, just have to do a bit of molding on it and it should be purrrrfect. Oh ya I went there. Had to work late tonight so hopefully I'll get to work on her tonight, thanks.
-
Nice! I must say, I prefer your cloak to the official model's one...
-
Great to see stuff like this, that fan looks great and that tiger is perfect.
-
Great use of parts Dread. That Yvraine is starting to look really good.
-
I really like that Cloak, has more of a Dark Eldar feel to it that the normal one. Really flows quite well too!
-
Thanks so much. Here is a small update. I'm trying to decide if I want to add to her head dress thingy then I'll get down with final paint.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2F20170324_200328_zpsqwrellw8.jpg&hash=c1b2b55531355b4e07e8b34ca7789b49af976214)
-
Look sweet! Again I love the patina look to the bronze on the fan. Really nice colors Dread and the cloak looks really cool. Sweet stuff man... keep it up!
-
Thanks bud. So she's on hold for a bit bit I have a 600 pt game this friday. Really excited, not sure who against but pit out a message that I'll be there. So I got out my list and finally finished paint on them.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2F20170413_010534_zpsqmhfb9bg.jpg&hash=800d98e0defb3ac4f7e30bed3b2543687989f2b2)

-
Dang Dread you've been doing some work! I pity whoever you have to play because they are in for a world of pain... as should anyone who dares mess with the almighty lords of 40k my beloved Eldar! lol ;D ;D ;D But joking aside they came out great! The fade is super nice and the spacing of the crackles is spot on.
I like the white body suits on the pilots too. I don't think I noticed that before. All around, everything looks great. I know I've mentioned it before... but I've always loved this scheme... ever since I saw it in the debut White Dwarf for Sisters of Battle (with cardboard terrain) in which the store owner where I was introduced to 40k had his Golden Demon winning models featured. Their was a Venom in this color scheme and it blew my mind! Still love it to this day.
Anyway, hope you have a great game bud. As always sending the good vibes your way... go out there and CRUSH it on the tabletop bro. Good luck and glad to see a painting update!
-
I would amphetamine parrot a brick if I faced that army! It looks really cool, I'm glad to see that you got round to finishing it off - it will look really striking on the battlefield.
Great work Dread.
-
Thanks guys.
So I had 2 600 pt games tonight. Won them both, yay! Anyhow I was so excited to play I forgot pics :P. First game was against Templar and 2nd against IG. Both were meat grinders on a 3x4 table, nothing really big happened except fun was had.
-
Crikey Moses, mate! You've got some serious skills there. So jealous of the amount of Vaul's armoury you have, Dread. Really like your blending. Showing the art that the Eldar bring to war.
Do you freehand the black hive pattern or mask and spray? Thank you for sharing... Be well!
-
Sick. Congrats on the win my man! Crush them in the sake of the old Eldar Gods and the new!
-
Ooh i like the fade there :) i've never been any good at that ;)
-
Saim-dann it's all brush and freehand. I start with a white primer then drag the red then drag the yellow forward and sack ward over the red. Then it's the takes forever black lava cracks.
Thanks all. We ate starting an aarmageddon tourney this Wednesday so, is it gonna be wyches or harlis. Help me decide
-
Harlies are too much of an effort painting to be left on the shelf, Dread. Take them along and watch them dance.
-
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi285.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll62%2FDeathbyDread%2F20170424_220207_zpsoxakzhnn.jpg&hash=84a71c557e4fd6fade57e30671183b618b8c574a)
My DE kill team. Now I have to paint them. Could only fit 4 harlis in a team, give them a whirl next time I play.
-
Nice! What's the plan paint-scheme-wise?
-
Well, that's the million dollar question. I think I'm gonna do each model different and not try to stay to a scheme. They will represent the best from each coven, like the winner from each arena put together to go forth and conquer. Sounds kinda sappy but I think that would work for the armageddon fluffwise. Will update as soon as paint begins.
-
Nice idea :) i like it :)
If you want to crank up the grimdark slightly just say that those champions who perform badly...aren't exactly 'welcomed' as such upon their return to Commorragh.
Sort of like the Hunger Games, but with psychotic drugged up space elves ;)
-
Hehehe! I like that.
Sorry everyone, not much to report right now. Life keeps kickin' my butt. With 8th on the very near horizon, I'll have some pics up of my opening night army....soon, I hope....
-
Well that's a bummer but I hope you're kicking back dude ;)
-
Well, I got my airbrush out and finally started my voidravens. I went with a similar look like the way I had my first one done...and now re-done, conversion and all.

Looks sick dread! I'm loving the detailed pattern you choose. What paints do you use for your airbrush? I'm still trying to get up the nerve to break mine out, but I'm still unsure what type of paint I want to go with.
-
Wow! Damn man thats great airbrush work! Super smooth and I love the blend of colors... from black to dark blue to purple to icy blue, its looking fantastic. The lightning bolts look killer too, the perfect touch! Keep it up bud love this scheme!
-
That's a really evocative colour scheme that you have adopted and it looks fantastic. The way the colours flow into each other is very appropriate for the Void Raven. Excellent work :).
-
Niiiiice!
That would not have been a quick process there, Dread. Am in awe. It would have been easy to go with the hot colours once you decided to go the flame pattern, however, choosing to go with the blue was bold and unique and it paid off. Hats off mate!
-
that's awesome Dread, digging how you blended the scheme onto the weapons, the lightning is also a very nice touch.
-
Thanks everybody. Wasn't sure on the lightning but wanted a void type effect, I think it works. As for the paint, I'm using createx. It works great, the opaque ones. Rich color. Hope to have more up soon.
-
That's a stunning paint scheme Dread! Nicely done :)
Also, you can tell you're a hot-rodder at heart ;)
-
Thanks bud. I wish I had some more done. I would have but we had a monster storm rip thru town last night. I still don't have electricity. 24 hours now. It's very disappointing. I had my whole weekend planned and now hopefully I will get to do some painting tomorrow. Oh well.
-
Bummer! That's no good. 24 hours is a long time for a power cut. Must have been a monster storm!
-
G'day Dread!
Feel for you mate. We have those kind of storms which turn into floods here in Bundy. Hope you and yours are well.
-
Thanks guys. Everything getting back on track. It seems photobucket.com has messed up. Does anyone know of a better photo upload site? I went on but couldn't figure out how to fix the problem. Thanks
-
I use imgur.com, it is free.
They also give you a list of links so you can copy and paste them into forums etc :)
-
Another alternative is Flickr, although that may be tied to a Yahoo e-mail account. I cannot remember without going to check though.

I'm pretty certain it is Iri. I use Flickr though and find it easy to use and fairly intuitive.

Please let me know if you can see the pic. Trying to find a photo share that works.
-
the link takes you to a page and then downloads the pic.
-
I use Imgur, for the most part. Works well for me.
-
I'll give it a shot.
Well I finally got my 1st game in on Saturday, actually 2 but I have to say WOW! I love the new rules. The games were so easy and much fun was had. My first game was against IG and the 2nd was against Blood angels. I'm going to do a betrep, I took notes, soon. I got pics too, there is the rub. Posting from Flikr just makes it where ya'll have to click the links and I know how much of a pain that is. Bare with me.
For quick right now I won the first 9 to 3 and lost the last 7 to 3.
-
Nice work :) glad to hear it's a bit of a streamlined way of playing.
You should be able to use flickr without having people click on the links. Might be a tad convoluted, but if you go to the bit where you normally go to download photos (little arrow in the bottom right when you select a picture if it hasn't moved). Clicking on that will bring up a drop down which says 'original size' followed by a list of other sizes. Select the size you want, and then it'll generate that size (useful for resizong bigger pics). Right click and select 'copy this image url', or just open the pic in a new tab. That web address will be one you can paste into forum code and have the pic appear :)
-
Huuu nice ! I'm really intrested in that bat rep against Blood Angels, that's my next opposent sooooo... any intresting bit of info is good.
I use photo bucket it's an efficient way for pick posting. And they have a good Android app aswell so you can post it directly from your phone^^ If you have an Android and take the pictures with it.
-
I'll give it a shot.

Looking forward to those BatReps Dread. I'm glad to see you had some success right out of the gate (but not too much, so it'll keep you hungry!).
As far as using Flikr, if you click the share arrow, then select the BB Code, you can copy and paste this into your script without issue and without a need to link back to the source. You do have to delete a lot of the code (leaving the first [i.m.g]to the next[/i.m.g]), but it isn't too arduous.
-
Thanks for the help. I'm still looking. Haven't found a bb code yet.
Thanks grizzly but that's why I'm trying to find another share site. Photobucket has made it to where you have to pay to share. Unfortunately I can't really afford that.
On another note, I did a couple of trades yesterday. Got Voldus, Cypher and a box of jet bikes and some bits for an imperial knight. Another trade was my ravenwing for the new game box, libraian and chaplain. Played 2 games, lost both but didn't care, had lots of fun.
Still need to write out report. Took good notes so maybe tonight I can jot it down and post. Maybe figure out the pic thing.
-
Hey Dread, I was caught in the same issue with photobucket. I downloaded all my images off their site and I was able to upload them very easily on imgur. They've got a pretty easy to use mobile app as well.
-
Thanks bud. I've downloaded imgur already and just have to see how to work it. I'll give it another go.
-
Photobucket did? Oo I don't have that problem... what the ? ok will look for an alternative solution aswell then I guess better safe than sorry.
-
Sorry I didn't get the bat rep done. But my excuse is I found out what was wrong with my hands. Just as I thought, it was one of my meds. Weaned myself off, no more shakes, cramps or pain. Started drawing and painting up a storm just to see. I've worked for hours each night and no problems. So I went out leased a building and am starting up my new tattoo shop. This has taken a front seat to everything else. So hopefully I get back to models and games soon. Til then I live vicariously thru ya'll for my gaming fun.
-
Well, for that your forgiven ;) stunning news! Best of luck with the tattoo shop, let us know how it goes ;)
-
Oh hell yeah Dread! Thats phenomenal news my friend! So glad for you man... Good luck with your new shop cant wait to see your work! Still sending the good vibes your way my man. So stoked!
-
Sod the hobby Dread, that's amazing news! I'm so glad that you've found the source of your problems and hope that it's a permanent fix. Best of luck with the tattoo shop!
-
Thanks guys. It's been a long time coming.
-
G'day Dread!
Am so happy for you, mate, for the news on your hands AND the shop. As a commercial artist myself, Dread, can understand how frustrating it must have been to not be able to create at will. Guess we take it for granted sometimes... Be well!
-
The best of luck on your endeavors Dread. :)
-
Thanks ya'll. Getting the floor done 5hen hopefully get all the supplies ordered. Wanted to open on the 12th but may have to push it back a little. Will post pics of shop when done.

So I hope ya'll are ready for a shining spear box set, I say this because every time I do a conversion it seams GW releases the model or takes them away. Since they're in the book, shouldn't be the later.
Since the new jetbikes have a combat screen popped up from the cowl, I didn't use the original spear left arm, less conversion work.
Feels good to be working on my Eldar again, for that matter my models. My last dabble was a few months back.
-
Thanks for that, Dread!
Now you've started on that, We're all looking forward to GW upgrading the Spears. Can see the potential in yours, mate. Keep'm come'n... Pointy ears forever!!
-
They're looking really cool Dread, looking forward to seeing more progress on these guys.
Also, any chance you could start working on plastic conversions of Swooping Hawks, Howling Banshees, Striking Scorpions, Dark Reapers, Fire Dragons, Warp Spiders, Vypers, Rangers and Phoenix Lords? Let's get this GW ball rolling!
-
Thanks SD. I now have Sundays and Mondays off. Not only building/painting but also gaming. Excited.
See what I can do Looshkin Hahahaha :) since I have 40 banshees (all 3 incarnations) not them but spiders, I have only 5. Never liked the sculpture so may be my next endeavor.
Hey Grizz, sorry I didn't get to do that bat rep a while back, life calming down now.

Those look awesome Dread! Never liked the old style jetbikes, but the new ones are beautiful. You've made the two work together really nicely :)
Potential pending plastic kits is one of the reasons i've never had a go at converted Aspects...although we have been waiting a rather long time...
-
Ya know, gluing the pewter pieces together reminds me why I love plastic so much. . I've got 2 built and 2 that don't like super glue, grrr. Post pics soon.
-
That's why God invented pinning, Dread. I kind of liked the old Jetbikes. There's a reason that they were the last to receive a revamp.
-
Nice job, I was thinking of doing the same conversion, but i wused out.
I suspect GW just had a mass stock pile of the old bikes and Spear upgrades, maybe once they clear them out we'll see a new kit lol.
-
Yup SD, that's why I have a hole in my left thumb now, haha. Still doesn't wanna dry.
I agree Mag. I'm getting old now and waiting has gotten harder. But now that base size don't matter, maybe I should just put them back together. I do like the leaned forward pose on mine better then the old laid back look.
-
The new Jetbikes are Katana's and the old ones are Harleys. One built for speed, the other for long-distance comfort... Bwahaha!!
-
Looking awesome man. Shining Spears are sooo good, and they've only gotten better with the codex. Quicken + Shining Spears = First Turn Charges (even crazier with Saim-Hann) I've got 8 more Russian sculpted Shining Spear pilots, just waiting for Jetbikes. This has given me the itch! Can't wait to see how you paint them bro. Keep it up!
-
Great job Dread!
A friend of mine has also just done the same with a shining spear upgrade pack and the new bikes!
I am waiting to see his in person before I do anything but I do have two metal upgrade packs sat in my bits box that may get a bit of use soon if they turn out well......
Can't wait to see those guys finished!
-
It's pretty funny but the fix was to buy some cheap no name super glue. It worked way better than the expensive stuff I have. Anyhow my first 4 are built.

Niiiiice Dread!
Your painting style will look Micky Mouse on these. Have never really liked the Exarch with those big-honk'n antlers on his helmet. About as streamlined as my left nostril, but that's my gripe and nothing to do with your great work. Thanks for sharing, mate... Pointy ears forever!!
-
Niiice. Shining Spears are SO good this edition. I've got 7 Russian Spear pilot sculpts just waiting for jetbikes. If I wasn't so poor I'd run out and buy them right now! Arghh you are killing me! Anyway great stuff Dread keep cant wait to see them painted!
-
Yeah these are awesome ;) nice work Dread!
-
https://flic.kr/p/228G5Jh (https://flic.kr/p/228G5Jh)
So I finally broke out the paints. Feels good. Decided on a new color scheme for my Banshees. I have a bunch out in the soup stripping the paint. I know it's not the most original scheme but it goes good with the dice I bought today.
-
Great job, digging the way the hair came out :)
-
Oh, my!
Really like what you're doing there, mate. The hair looks great, but the little power sheen in the middle of the staff is Micky Mouse. Was never a big fan of that era of aspects, (especially the Scorpions. Buck toothed looking, blessed, things).
However, you've actually made them look good. Well done, mate. Good to see you on the blog again... Pointy ears forever!!
-
http://flic.kr/p/216hPUL (http://flic.kr/p/216hPUL)
The old scheme is on the right. 20 some odd years old, the scheme not the model. It was definitely time for a change I think.
Way back in 2nd ed, my army consisted of mostly banshees and reapers. I'm moving to make a list using a similar build now for posterity sake. My first Gen banshees will keep the original paint scheme but my 2nd and 3rd Gen will have the new.
Now just have to start playing again. The new shop is doing well now so now time to get life back.
-
Congrats, Dread!
Always glad to hear of a businessman doing well. Those particular models came out in third ed. We can tell the designers have just come from working on the Dark Eldar. This was the first appearance for the DE and the Banshees were the next in line, and I think it shows in their form.
I like the left breastplate being metal. Can't remember if they were designed that way or this is your creation. Looking great, mate... Be well!
-
Ooh yeah that Banshee is mint! No word of a lie, that is the first mini I've seen that has made me even slightly reconsider changing up my generally muted painting style for a more colourful one. The bright bone colour, fiery orange hair and offset steely plating is a hell of a colour scheme :)
-
Damn Dread, that Exarch looks freaking boss! You absolutely crushed the shading and highlighting on that bone... and the hair and gems look so striking and vibrant. Just fantastic paint job on a classic mini. Awesome stuff bud, can't wait to see the rest of the girls come along. Keep rolling!
-
Hi Dread! Great Shining Spear conversion, very natural-looking. Can't wait to see them painted ;)
-
Hey Dread, sorry I didn't post earlier...I totally missed all of the new photos that you'd posted!
That Banshee Exarch is brilliant. I like it a lot more than the old colour scheme. Your execution of the scheme is totally on point as well. The shading of the bone plates is amazing and I simply love the counterpoint of the cold blade.
Keep rocking it man...also, I'm really pleased to hear that the business is taking off. Great stuff!

So here is my latest, nothing special really. The guys at the store really want me to play BB so here are my Rat Finkz! Wish me luck, I've never played before so this coming Monday will be my first.
-
G'day, Dread!
They look Micky Mouse to me, mate. Good luck with the game and palease give us a report. Have never had anything to do with the game either. So wouldn't mind a lookyloo... Pointy ears forever!!, (Rats included).
-
rat-tastic :)
-
Sorry this is not a pic post but that is coming. I finally got the triumvirate box! Yes, today, so all other projects are being pushed aside, not that I have many going right now. I have a ton of conversion work to do on the big guy ( don't like the horns) and assembly. The others will get done normal except might change visarch sword. Bases will be worked over but the big one is getting worked over big time. Updates to follow.
-
Awesome :) they're absolutely gorgeous models. Photos don't quite do them justice, especially the biggun.
Looking forward to what you do with her!
-
Finally I got some time to work on models tonight. Nothing really amazing yet. I was trying to put my Great Harli Quin together in sections to make her easier to paint but somehow I got glue in the wrong place, so I just glued her all together. Down side, harder to paint. Up side, will be able to fill gaps before painting. I'll get gaps done shortly and hopefully prime tomorrow night.
I also did some touch ups on my converted shadowseer and started painting on another shadowseer. Also, for my birthday, a friend 3D printed me my Necrons objective markers, painted one tonight. Tried out a new paint I got called green glow, going to have figure that out better.
Hopefully soon I will get a game or 2 in, maybe Monday night.

Here ya go bud. Now keep in mind I tried using a brush on the first one. I'm gearing my air brush up for the others. If it works better for the glow, I will receive do the first one.

I started this one to try out a different design. Will paint riders soon.
-
That's a really unique design. I've never seen that one before. If you're up to trying a technical paint, I really like adding lahmian media as a top coat when I have really distinct lines of colour separation. It seems to smooth out the transition and hides any of the errant brush lines. Not a criticism of the paint job, which is gorgeous. Just if you wanted to try something. If you don't mind a gloss look, adding another layer with ard coat blends even better. That's what I did with my acid bases for my dark eldar to make it look more flowing.
Awesome look as is though. Just a thought if you wanted to experiment, but as that design probably took you a long time, you may not want to monkey with it.
-
Yay I can see your photos now! Forgot my flickr email so couldn't sign in to see them.
Kickass work dude :) and I'll echo DoW's comment about the uniqueness of the design on your 'weaver. Looks awesome :)
-
That Cegorach (!) is wonderful, Dread! I think you really nailed it with the masks and the color scheme, pretty resourceful of you to find a suitable replacement for the Yncarne head. Lots of wonderful and colorful patterns that absolutely scream the Laughing God and his Harlequins. You should be proud of this one! ;D
-
Cracking progress Dread. I think that Star Weaver in particular is coming along really well. I love that you haven't gone for uniform diamonds...the uniqueness really adds a lot to the mini.
Great update bud, keep it rocking!
-
Thanks guy's! The basics on these are flat black with gloss graphics. Black will be the basic on all foot dudes too. Not to many diamonds on ground troops just basic bright colors. The ones now are purple and green, some others may be grey and red or blue and ah I dunno. But here is the start.

Great job, Dread, the Craven King looks so much cooler when you get some close-ups to him, though he already seemed pretty great before. Cannot wait to see how paint him :). Nighthaunt will likely be my second army, that or Stormcasts, haven't really decided which one yet.
-
Hey Dread awesome stuff man! I second Looshkin's feedback too, the diamond patterns are killer. Love the scheme too. Are they Veiled Path? Love that Masque... they were the dudes who led Y'riel to the Spear of Twilight... so always had a love of them. Also the AoS model loooks great! Anyway great stuff bud love it!

Looking good Dread
Now where did Iput that proton pack :)
-
;D That's funny Magenb, I actually mixed that color up months ago to paint Slimer for my grandson. I originally was gonna use purples and blues but decided on the greens.
-
Those Nighthaunt are terrific Dread! The colours that you've used are just great and really convey the ethereal look of the army. I think my favourite piece so faris the Lady Olynna. The greens and white work so well together.
Top stuff Dread!

-
Those Nighthaunt look great Dread! I think you pulled off the insubstantial wraith look quite well. Are you finished with that model or are you going to take the Craven King even further :)?
-
Looking good! I do think you should paint some of the details on the models, as with just the green/white they lack a certain amount of pop. Especially on the named heros, where you really want them to stand out.
-
Try this. I added some titanium gold to some. It keeps the ethereal look. I used athonian camoshade over some areas to bring out details.
(https://image.ibb.co/jU4OFp/20180810_195932.jpg) (https://ibb.co/dZ85T9)
-
Much much better.
With just the white and green, they just don't look finished to me. Fantastic base for the ethereal effect, but you need spot colours and details on the models. If you could work in some dark reds onto the models, I think it'd really pop too.
-
Thanks KS! I just don't see anyway to add red without throwing off my vision. Here's a couple more.

-
:o, that shade of gold on the details and the anthonian camoshade really make these models shine, Dread(Though they were already very blingy to begin with ;))! I particularly love the light shade of pink you used for the roses, that looks wonderful on Lady Olynder. You and Loosh are kind of inspiring me to paint some wraiths myself, but I already have quite a few models that need paint already, haha :).
-
Dread your Nighthaunt are amazing! I really like the eerie green effect you got going here. Very reminiscent of the Dead Men Of Dunharrow in a way. Great stuff! :)
-
Oh man, those models are look sweet Dread! Really soft touches all round. Almost reminds me of something Ynneadwraith would paint. I love it! The pale pink roses are a KILLER touch man. Just a great detail that really draws the eye in and keeps with the theme. I love it!
-
Thanks guys. I hope to get more done this weekend. Works been hectic but fulfilling. I hope to get my black coach next week, I can't wait!
Well I went and got it today. To say it's a beautiful model is an understatement. Fits together perfect. Now just the banshees and some more chain rasps and the army will be ready for play.

The model is awesome. The perspective of painting it feels daunting to say the least :)
-
Looks good Dread, can't wait to see how you paint it up :)
-
Gotta say Dread, this nighthaunt look really cool. There is some kind of profound elegance in these very pastel color you are using. It's very soft, it works wonder for what is supposed to be ghost like thingy! Keep it up it's a blast to watch.
-
I love how these guys are coming along Dread. Terrific colours and a great finish so far. That Black Coach looks like a really fun kit to work on and I'm looking forward to seeing what you pull off with it.
Great updates Dread, I'm really loving how this project is coming together!
-
Noice, Dread :), cannot wait to see how you tackle the Black Coach! I think if I ever end up building that kit, I'm going to try to paint it in sub-assemblies. I'm still notoriously bad at not doing that :P.
-
Thanks guys. Small update.

-
Ow amphetamine parrot this look awesome! I love the direction you are taking, was that done with an Airbrush?
-
Hey Grizz! Yes to the air brush, first stages. I'm trying to decide if I want to make the casket look solid and being bore my an ethereal coach. So much to do and so little time.
-
Wow!
Firstly..... Great job on the airbrushing, it looks really good! I'd probably add in a tiny little bit of drybrushing to bring out the edges and it'll look really ethereal!
Secondly.... Major Kudos for attempting that model, as much as it looks amazing I don't think I'd have the guts to use it as it looks so damn fiddly! I'd definitely end up breaking it!
-
That is an amazing Black Coach Dread! Is that a tricky mini to work with?
-
First off, thanks. The model is well designed, not wobbly. Now if you're gonna do a bunch of detail work, then test fit and paint before assembly. Since I'm going the easy way out, there's not a lot of detail, old dogs just go for ease.
-
Oh man those are so cool! I second that the addition of the gold touches is a brilliant step :) love the idea of a solid casket being borne by an ethereal ghost-coach too. Can't wait to see it come together :)
-
Great foundation for that Black Coach, Dread, loving it! Cannot wait to see how you pick out all of the details.
So spooky! :D
-
A small bit I go ta do last week. Sorry I haven't worked on my haunts but I started my kill team. For your viewing pleasure....

Wow Dread, those Gellar Pox are absolutely spectacular 8)!!! There's so many subtle varieties in the fleshy bits (which are kind of the whole models), and they blend together into each other so seamlessly. About as natural as disease-ridden, cybernetic hulks of stitched together flesh blessed by the God of Decay should look, I think ;D.
Seriously, that's impressive :). Are you going to be painting the Starstriders, because I would love to see that!
-
Thank you so much. Actually split the box with a friend, so he got those. I was going for that difference in color as to not have them all the same, glad you noticed that, means I accomplished what I set out for. I have the others started and in various stages, just need to find time.
-
great work there Dread, really liked how the cleaver turned out.
-
Cool job on the mutants! Looking forward to seeing the whole team :)
-
Those are looking great Dread. Really nice to see slightly different looks on all of the big guys. I especially like the look of the tentacles on the 2nd guy. Those models look bang full of character.
Great work Dread, I look forward to seeing what you do with the rest of the gribblies.
-
Here's a quick pic of some of the team. Enjoy. I will take single pics soon.

Looks good! :) love your use of spot colours.
-
Absolutely love the varied skintones you've got on those mutants dude. Stellar work!
-
Hi everyone! It's been a bit. Working 2 jobs really knocked me back but now only 1 job and getting more time now. When 8th ed ended and age started, my night goblins got put away, I really didn't like the rules for them. With 2nd ed age and the new gloomspite, I've dusted them off.
(https://i.ibb.co/h1d9mvD/20190122-234530.jpg) (https://ibb.co/fGNFx74)
And added these...
(https://i.ibb.co/J7LkHgH/20190122-233938.jpg) (https://ibb.co/gT1gJhJ)
I'm getting everything set up to paint. Unfortunately a bunch of my other projects will take a back seat to Skarsnik's band o misfits. Until next time, keep hobbying.
-
Glorious Goblin army there, Dread, that's a lot of gobbos! I can't wait to see what you do with the Gloomspite Battletome!
Looking forward to seeing some paint on that Gobbapalooza ;D.
-
Yeah, sweet grot army Dread! That’s an interesting shade of plastic Skarsnik’s boyz come in too! I didn’t know they were that colour!
-
Yup when I unboxed them, I thought they might have been molded in green but bam, their they were. They're all primed up now, hope to start painting soon. Yall keep up they great work.
-
Wahey night goblins! I've never collected them myself but I'm dead pleased they're getting some love :)
-
I painted this for a friend for Christmas. Started painting my night goblins last night.

Also f I understand out we're having a mini gaming con at our local library today and tomorrow. Back to Kill Team tomorrow afternoon, gonna be great, I need a game. Hopefully will update soon.
-
I painted this for a friend for Christmas.
Whoa Dread that is awesome stuff. Don’t know what you have done with the cloak, but I really like the way it looks. One thing though a bit of yellow from one of the 'bulbs' has got onto the tubing behind it and this could do with cleaning up.
-
Thanks Alienscar, nice catch too. I'll have to amend that or its a glint of yellow light refraction off the tube, ya,that's it, right...we'll go with that.
-
That is a wonderfully baroque looking paint job on that mini Dread! Fantastic work! :)
-
Great basing there Dread and the model looks fantastic, like dirt is getting into oily areas :)
-
Excellent Cawl, Dread, I really love what you've done with it! If I had one criticism that I had to nit-pick about -and this might be a product of the camera itself or maybe I'm blind- I cannot really make out the details on Cawl's face. But other than that, I think the model is gorgeous!
Keep us updated!
-
Thanks everyone. The camera was not great but the face is done in layered greys, kinda dark. My friend bought my skitarii army from me a year ago. Kept Cawl to paint and give him for Christmas, he was so proud, he got me the kill team core book, I'm so happy to have it finally. So many things I've discovered about the game having it in hand. Anyhow, I painted him in the colors I had started doing my skitarii so he fits perfect and my buddy wants to pay me to finish the army so, I may be getting busy soon.
As for the base, cork is do fun to use. You can shape it, break it and paint it to look so perfect.
-
Dude that's awesome! Love the whole pallette of bronzes and ruddy cloth with luminous yellow highlights.
The cloth is particularly nice :) how did you do it?
-
Hey Ynneadwraith, thanks. I start with a black primer then coat it with doom bull brown. I use Ryza rust (dry) over all the raised detail then use Hexos Palesun around the bottom edges fading it up. The use Agrath earth shade wash in the nooks and crannies. After I finish all metals and colors I spray a matte finish over the model.
Here is another view..
(https://i.ibb.co/bXdKNB1/20190114-185816.jpg) (https://ibb.co/Fz7D8w6)
UPDATE............. ...........
So, you know the feeling when you buy that fresh shiny new army. You get all excited, go home assemble them and go through your head on what color. You do some tests buy never figure out what you want. Well I have a huge Drukhari army I got when all the new models came out years ago. I've test painted a few, even painted a few flyers but never found the right fit.....until today. Went into my local game store, the owner is one of my best friends. He says I got something new to show you. He got in a new paint line. My jaw hit the floor, COLOR CHANGING PAINT!! I FOUND IT! That perfect color, it changes from green to purple. I just started priming the models and hopefully here in a bit I'm gonna thin some out and spray a base. I hope it works the way it says and if it does, ya baby! Will post pics of progress. So cross your fingers and wish me luck.
Sorry for the wall of text.
The pictures don't do it justice, the color change is awesome. I got a bunch of transports based also. I haven't been this ambitious in a good while except for my Gellarpox. Here's the best pic I got.
(https://i.ibb.co/42LtN68/20190209-195751-1.jpg) (https://ibb.co/T1G2hV4)
-
is it greenstuff's chameleon paint?
-
It says Turbo dork on the bottle.
(https://i.ibb.co/VWs9QXB/20190209-235842.jpg) (https://ibb.co/wNfgwD6)
I wish the color change would show better in the pics. Now I just have to figure out what color to use on the sails. I'm thinking red or a tan color, i am doing obsidian rose. Any suggestions?
-
I wish I could see these colors at their most opaque, then observe the shift in the color. Looks great, Dread. Really complements the scheme too. I would like to see some of the panels and other details picked out with more colors, but the end result is great!
-
Thanks. That's just the base coat. Lots of detail to go. Will be slow going but at least I'm finally painting them.
Think I'm going to do greys for the sails, wych outfits cloth and the like. Tried silver for chains but not enough contrast so going golds copper tones.
-
Cool, in that case, I'm officially on the edge of my seat to see one of these bad boys completed! 8)
-
I think these pic shows the shift in color pretty well.
Without flash, just light....

An absolutely amazing Corsair fleet you’ve got going there Dread. :)
-
Thanks, Dread, I can see the color shift more clearly now and it looks amazing! So excited to watch you proceed with this mad scheme ;)!
-
Thanks guys. I've been feverishly painting away. Finally decided on reds for sails and cloth stuff. I did one with bright green sails, just too, well, bright. Will post pics soon. I took them to play today but unfortunately ran out of time for 40k, playing in a kill team campaign so my Gellerpox got a workout. Back to painting.
-
Wow! That's quite the Raiding party you have Dread!
It's tough to see in the photos, but I imagine that the green/purple shimmer that you have going on is just superb and so fitting for Dark Eldar.
It kinda makes me want to break out some Drukhari and try something similar.
Terrific work Dread, well done!

Where's my text?! I had written text when I put pics up. Anyhow, I almost have my flyers done. Working on troops in a as push to finish. I looked the transfer sheets over but really didn't like to many of them to put on my vehicles. Then I thought, they're not human so don't need insignia.

Those are some sick flyers, Dread, I love the one with the nebulae-esque scheme, looks absolutely beautiful. The Razorwings with the color shifting paint seem more uniform in their schemes and don't stand out too much in the images, but I bet they must look sweet in person. I've seen a tutorial using color shifting paints on an Akhelian King, and he looked absolutely incredible.
-
Thanks. Ya it's really hard to get good pics of them, in person they really shine. The colors were made for this army, in my humble opinion. Hope to have more pics up soon.
-
woooow they look amazing Dread, love the flight basing too!
-
Hey Dread, quick question for you, since I know you're doing Daughters of Khaine. How are you planning on painting your Witch Aelves. Are you painting them fully assembled or do you plan to leave the head and hair off as sub-assemblies. Trying to figure out which one I want to do, but sub assemblies seems fairly more complicated since specific heads go with specific bodies and aren't really interchangeable across the entire kit.
-
I completely assemble them especially since the neck to chin is so tiny. When painting them, the areas you can't see don't need paint anyway. Just is easier. I tried to do Helebrons head/hair unattached years ago but trying to put it on the neck was almost impossible, ended up with a big glue blob that I had to trim and then had to repaint. Hope this helps you.
Been slowly working on the grots...

those grots look like great fun to paint, looking forward to see how they come out.
-
Fantastic stuff Dread! I’m especially loving the grots! :)
-
Holy Airbrushing Batman.
Hot damn those flyers are terrific. Amazing work that has me dripping with envy. Luscious work.
Really excited to see more progress with the Golblins and Harkaan World Claimer too.

Thanks guys for the pat.

And now back to your paid program already is progress.
Thanks guys for the pat.
-
lol, nice intro :)
Can't wait to see how you paint them up.
-
Here's a couple of commissions I did.
(https://i.ibb.co/RpTdjr1/20190310-114935.jpg) (https://ibb.co/pvj5hVg)
Working on others too. Just started so no pics yet.
-
kill team?
Your light box needs more light :)
I like the different coloured lights on the staff and the liquid in the containers is a nice touch too.
-
Sweet merciful Dark Gods, cannot wait to see how you tackle the Shadowspear Box. What are your ideas for a paint scheme? I'll be parting ways with my Stormcast soon and will be getting my first few boxes of Chaos myself.
Also, those completed Mechanicus models are absolutely snazzy, love how you picked out all of the little details, really makes them stand out.
Keep it up!
-
Actually no on KT. But I am painting his team now. Yup I need to work on lighting.
Not sure on paint scheme yet. Keep bouncing back to my Nightlords colors but want something different. As soon as I get this commission stuff done I'm gonna toy around with them and finish my night gobbos.
Thanks guys
-
Those Mechanics models are great. It's a shame they're a bit dark in the photo, but you can see the work is top notch.
-
Yeah the mechanics look absolutely fantastic Dread! And I’m excited to see how those chaos units turn out! :)
-
So we played a 2 on 2 last week. My black legion and bugs vs death guard and orks. Each 750 pts doing a objective based game. They got 17 pts to our 13 but fun was had and I got to use the new stuff. Any how I got home that night and decided I want a dark apostle. With no money to use I remembered a model I got in a white dwarf mag a while back and converted him. So introducing my new dark apostle. Que music....
(https://i.ibb.co/yqxzQNH/20190404-183928.jpg) (https://ibb.co/4p0bVFh)
Dug thru my bits box and found an old chaos back pack and a chaos warrior cloak plus my buddy bought me the new chaos space marine box, he's a great guy, got the pistol and maul from it. Need to name him, hmm. Suggestions?
-
Arthral the bloody Maul of Khorne.
-
That's a fantastic conversion. I particularly like the way that you have posed the model to be pointing menacingly towards his target with that maul.
As for naming, as Dark Apostles were, at least originally, exclusive to the Word Bearers, I'm not sure that I'd make his name favour any particularly Chaos God. [Insert name] Chosen of Lorgar might work, but it's rather unoriginal. How about some alliteration? Drazhar, Demagogue of Darkness might work, for example.
-
I've always liked the Slaughter Priest model, and I think he'd make a natural Dark Apostle with some work. I think you've done that conversion work some great justice. He's even got the mace!
Got nothing for names :P.
-
So, sorry been dry around here. Work and painting commissions has really hit me. Anywho, I finally sat and painted for me self last night and finally got my black coach done.
-
Wow, what an excellent centerpiece model you've painted, Dread! It looks awesome! Got to say, love how you did the basing! How did you do it! :) 8)
-
Thanks. Started with 2 layers of cork, tearing out sections to look like ruts carved out by wheels in wet ground. Based in doom bull brown, then dry brushed some lighter browns. I use model train ballast glued in open areas to look like dirt/gravel. Been doing this for years. I'm still thinking about adding some grass around the tomb stones.
-
Looks great Dread, love the way you did the base :)
-
Really cool looking centre piece model you have there Dread. The ethereal look has been executed brilliantly. I think that the base is also terrific.
If it were me, I'd probably have done the coach in regular colours, as opposed to ethereal, so that the characters were the ghosts that happened to be pulling a corporeal coach. That's just me though and you choices don't detract from what is an excellent model.
Great stuff Dread! Good to see you painting your own stuff!
-
Thanks guys. Yup Loosh, I've been fighting with that since I got the base coat on it. When I started the base the other night and the metallic trim, I kept dropping my brush. That sucked so I just did the base, afraid I'd mess it up. Still a possibility in the future. Thanks for everyone's feed back.
I might not get to paint my models all the time but being a taxidermist now, I get some interesting jobs in. Did this for a customer tonight.
So, been playing KT again since elites dropped. FINALLY my banshees can be used. Now I stripped the old colors of 20 of my gals and have tried to come up with a new paint scheme for my KT unit but I just keep going back to the scheme I've used for many years. Need some suggestions please.
-
I'm not much of a trophy hunter, but that's pretty cool 8). Fancy paint on it!
As for Kill Team, I'm glad Aspect Warriors are usable again!
As for color scheme, what about dark grey, sunburst yellow, and bleach bone accents?
-

Totally understandable. What you've achieved is still epic bud, so I wouldn't worry about it at all.
That skull looks freaking sweet by the way.
-
(https://i.ibb.co/FBMz50m/20190607-173233.jpg)
I finally got my few DoK assembled but added a bit to this Blood Queen. More soon.
-
Awesome base for the Slaughter Queen, Dread, I really like that one! Nothing screams sacrificial like a pile of skulls lol.
You planning on painting them soon? What scheme are you going for?
-
Right after the new witch models came out I started using blue. Never been happy with it so got that far and never finished painting them.
So as soon as I have the funds I will get more to be able to field a proper force.
-
Right after the new witch models came out I started using blue. Never been happy with it so got that far and never finished painting them.
Yeah I think the blue is too bright for worshipers of Khaine, it doesn't exactly scream bloody murder lol.
-
I think I'm going to just go black boots and cloth with metal armor bits and red hair. Highlight the black of coarse and go with a regular flesh tone instead of such a pale one. Dunno yet, waiting for inspiration. I'm working on some drawings right now so painting is sidelined for a bit. Thanks for coming by here everyone.
Got my few sisters models done.
-
The doves of Doom :) Nice work mate.
-
Excellent looking sisters, I love the choice of hair color and how the facial features came out. Their faces look soft and fair, where as the GW schemes have them a bit harsh to me. Amazing how a paint job can change how one views that.
Excellent work! 8)
-
I forgot to post the the pic with Greyfax and Veredyan.
-
Love the sisters. Always enjoy seeing them painted up; they're just terrific models.
-
Thanks Loosh. I'm getting anxious for the whole army to drop. Here's the new one so far...I don't do detail on faces, wish she had a helmet.
-
Great work on that Bloody Rose scheme, Dread!!! If you're looking to add something to the face, two simple coats of either thinned contrast gulliman flesh or fyreslayer flesh with contrast medium will fix that right up!
-
Looks great Dread, the blue candles are a nice touch.
-
Thanks guys. I'm planning on getting that flesh contrast this weekend so I'll wait til then and try it out. I've got a little highlighting left then clear coat and done.
So here is a commission I'm working on for a good friend.
-
Here's a work in progress pic or 2.
Probably another session or 2 and will be done.
-
Those are some nice walkers, I've always liked the Killa-kans (and how they look like cans on legs, very orkish). What are you washing them with? they look a bit greenish in the first picture, but a lot warmer in the second.
-
dats a lota dakka! very nice Dread.
-
Those Bad Moons are looking bad ass!
Did you happen to magnetize the weapons?
I did it on my own dreads, but its something I've always regretted not doing with my kans.
-
Those are some nice walkers, I've always liked the Killa-kans (and how they look like cans on legs, very orkish). What are you washing them with? they look a bit greenish in the first picture, but a lot warmer in the second.
Thanks Nutty. Ya the bright yellow I used showed up greenish from the flash. I'm using Casadora yellow from GW.
Thanks magenb, they a commission job. I am getting a knight for doing these.
Hey dow, no on the magnets. He wanted them static posed. If the we're mine they would be.
Thanks guys
-
All finished....
-
they look great Dread, the basing is a nice contrast too. Really like all the Eldar herding the orkz HAHAHAHA
-
Those are some great Bad Moon orks Dread. I'm trying to decipher the words written on the tabletop. Im sure its completely unrelated, but I'm imagining it's you secretly coming up with orky names for these guys.
-
Agree with everyone else, liking the snazzy Bad Moon Dreads. And Yellow is a color that I've only attempted once, and it was a horrible mess ;D. Great work on achieving that color!
-
Thanks for the replies. I enjoyed painting them for my friend. He has more for me to do soon.
The names on the table, haha, actually my skaven blood bowl team members names.
-
Those walkers turned out great; I'm sure your friend will be happy to add them to his army.
-
Thanks Nutty!
I did this up for him too.
Now I can get back to my other friends stuff and try to get some of my stuff worked on.
-
Nice 'naut! Those are going to be some shooty Bad Moons. I hope Gork (or Mork) blesses your friend with many a reroll and lots of dakka.
-
Glorious Morkanaut, or Gorkanaut :P?
Great job, either way. It's always a really great feeling when you complete minis of that scale, isn't it ;D?
-
sweet 'naut, well done Dread.
-
Now with the new sisters out and getting my 2 boxes, I decided not to wait for the new tanks to drop. One, I really don't like either of them, to busy imho. 2nd, they'll probably be $80 or more. So bought 2 rhinos from a friend for $25 and retired my other rhino to be commissioned as Exorcists. Dug out my old panel molds, dug thru the bits box, made molds of pieces I needed and got started.
I still have some putty work to do but you can see what I was going for. Enjoy
-
Awesome work so far, Dread, they're already coming together.
Cannot wait to see the final result of that putty work!
-
nnooooooooooooooooo o bleeding sisters.. too many of my Eldar have fallen to those flaming girls :)
The molded parts look like they came out realy well. Can't wait to see how they turn out.
-
Thank guys. A real passion going for sure. I got all the gluing done and the holes filled. Gonna prime them tomorrow.
Not perfect but happy with them. Now I can start building the actual models from the box.
-
That's a great looking tank; a bit closer to the old FW exorcist in design than the GW one.
I've always liked how sisters were a quite over the top, but the new vehicles take things a little to far for my taste.
-
looking good Dread, they are going to look awesome rolling on to the battle field.
-
Well done on those repressors, Dread. At first I thought I'd already responded to this, but it seems that I missed this update. Masterful molding out of putty, that's really impressive!
-
Thanks guys! :) been working on my sisters and trying to paint my black legion and finish up my buddy ad mech and work.
On another note, had a cancer scare but got a clean bill today, so happy vibes. 8)
-
Thanks guys! :) been working on my sisters and trying to paint my black legion and finish up my buddy ad mech and work.
On another note, had a cancer scare but got a clean bill today, so happy vibes. 8)
I swear that I replied to this before, guess not :-[.
Great news, Dread, glad that you're cancer free! :D :D :D, Congratulations my friend!
Good news to end the year with, I think 8).
-
Thanks Myen'Tal 8) it's very good news. Five years ago went thru cancer surgery, it sucked! Took a while to get over but that's also when I got my harlequin army so something good came out of it.
On another note, supposed to play my first game with my sisters tomorrow night but haven't got them all built yet. Working so much right now so I think my harlequins may be getting fielded. Let ya'll know how that goes. ;)
-
On another note, had a cancer scare but got a clean bill today, so happy vibes. 8)
wow, great news Dread The emperor protects aye ;)
Show us your Admech work too.
-
Thanks magenb! I got some more chain rasps and banshee for Christmas and my bud got me the Phoenix rising dex, it's amazing from what I've read.
Funny you ask about the admech. Finished them last night while he built some more for me to paint, you can see them in the background.
Now I'm gonna get some of my black legion done before I jump into anything else. Post pics as I can. 8)
-
Looking great, Dread, always love seeing some well painted Mechanicum. They look good :D.
-
I like what you did with the dunecrawler, the build up of light colours from the bottom of the hull looks great.
-
I like what you did with the dunecrawler, the build up of light colours from the bottom of the hull looks great.
I agree, it makes for a good looking build up of dust and dirt.
The blue skin of those priests (I can never tell what kind they are) is also a nice touch; it ties in really well with their electric vibe.
-
Well, I did it. I settled on a color scheme for my sisters. For those of you who don't know, this is my 5th and final sisters army. I never painted any of my others so this is a big hurdle for me, to settle on. I wasn't gonna do anything with them for a while but just couldn't help myself. So an amethyst armor with turquoise robes and gold trim. This is as good as they're gonna get so be kind with critiques. I'm just going for playable not paint comps. Thanks. 8)
-
That's a good looking scheme! But I may be biased towards torquise/teal :)
I'm looking forward to seeing the first completed squad.
-
It certainly makes them stand out :) Looks gret Dread.
-
I too like this scheme, Dread, it's close to the one that I thought up originally, with some subtle changes!
-
Thanks guys. It means a lot. I've always had a hard time coming up with a scheme for them. I also have an order name for them "the Cerulean Shroud". Can still use them as any major orders rules. Now if I can write, IlL try to create a back story but later, paint first. Will post more soon.
So I had to do a wash on the robes, glad I did.
-
Yeah I like the washed robes colour better, that army is going to look awesome on the table :)
-
That looks even better; I was going to suggest washing the turquoise with some Coelia Greenshade. But I wasn't sure if that constituted feedback or criticism :)
-
Thanks guys. I think I may have to tackle the face. But will wait til I get some of the big basing on the units first. Also gonna have to go back and work on Celestine and her girls and Veridyn to make them match.
-
Micky Mouse color choices, Dread!
This is my first look in on, "40K Online", for over a year... or two and your painting skills have increased.
So glad to hear your ok health-wise as well, mate... Be well!!
-
I am so ha]y to hear from you! Glad you dropped by. Yeah, been getting into painting and
-
I am so ha]y to hear from you! Glad you dropped by. Yeah, been getting into painting and
I think that sentence trailed off a little, Dread ;).
-
It did. My sleeping pill got me I guess. Hahaha! It's not the first time. ::)
Saim-dann, so good to see you back. Keep checking in.
Here's her other side.
-
Got to give it to the sculptor, the iconography on the robe and the clip buttons are nice touches. The gold trim is a nice pairing too.
-
Hey everyone! Sorry it's been baron here of late. I have several irons in the fire project wise, just no real completions. I did go get me another unit for my Nighthaunt army and began assembly. Now this being one of GWS prettiest models I have to say one of the worst to assemble next to the Hexwraiths. The spirit hosts!
So I have 3 down and 6 to go.
I've also been picking a little on my gobbopalooza, just so much little details to look after.
I will keep plugging along. Also have a commission job for Sanguinius(sorry for spelling) that I just finished magnetising and primed, will post pics on that one soon. 8)
-
Awesome work, Dread. As someone that has attempted to assemble spirit hosts before, holy amphetamine parrot those are the worst models I've ever attempted to assemble! I think I did assemble one after a couple of hours of experimenting lol ;D.
-
And to start with, I cut the first part out and then the little face piece which popped outta my fingers and the carpet ate it. Looked for 20 minutes and gave up. Almost got up and quit before I even started, haha. Stuck it out and 2 hours later, 3 done.
-
Looking good Dread, Gobblins looks like a lot of fun to paint.
Nighthaunts look great, but man all those thin pointy bits, must be a pain to try and travel with them.
-
You got that right magenb, they do get tangled together sometimes too.
So I finished the commission I was doing and it's helped get me back to painting. Here's some pics.
I magnetized the rock section of the diaroma so you can play with just him.
Stay tuned...more to come!
-
wow, so much to like there Dread, great job. Stand out for me is the wings
(https://i.imgur.com/AhqSdjA.jpg)
-
Thanks bud. About 12 hours paint time. I also forgot to mention I magnetized the hand. When on the diaroma the hand is made on the demons horn so when off, the open hand can be put on. Try drilling that small, whew it was tedious.
-
Amazing job, Dread! I'm also a huge fan of the Angel's wings.
Wonderful job!
-
I need to echo what the others said. Amazing job on those wings Dread! :)
-
Cool stuff! And a good call on magnetizing him; he's to cool a model to just sit on a shelf the rest of his life.
-
Thanks guys. I've been building more lately, about to pick up the brushes again, I'm going to finish my shining spears and get pics up soon. Then I'll post a pic of my completely painted force (that I play with).
This just in.....
Here is my wip
(https://i.ibb.co/c3q6qdx/20200313-193731.jpg)
And my completed mighty warships.
-
Nice!
Those fire prisms look great; and I'm sure those bikes will end up looking just as awesome.
-
Great work on the shining spears and the fire prisms, Dread! They look really great! How are you doing the hex pattern on them?
-
Thanks guys. It's just free hand chaos. Black with a skinny brush. Been using that technique close to 30 years now, ain't broke so. It's time consuming but easy and if I screw up, you can't tell, hahaha. ???
On a side note. Went and got me a new kill team today. FISH STICKS! Now we'll see how pathfinders and stealth suits work. Not getting an army of them, just kt. Win or lose, for fun and I've wanted to paint some of these little buggers. Now, what color scheme?
-
Looks great Dread, you gotta take a pic of the whole army together :)
-
Looking good buddy and very solid additions at present! My Shining Spears have been doing great and adding a Fire Prism to the mix (in addition to my Warp Hunters) has been huge. Cant wait to get my other 2 finished... let us know how they do in games and keep rocking!
-
Thanks guys. So I'm stuck at home. This virus thing has the world going nuts. Anyway we don't have any confirmed here but it feels like we're waiting for a bomb to drop. So my boss said not to come work this week. I'm trying to use this time to hobby, started building my imperial knight and working on my spears so maybe I'll get some stuff done. Grr, anyhow, want to work.
Anyhow on another note, I am toying with the name Gypsy Moon for my knight. What do y'all think? Paint scheme will be like a purple to magenta to orange sunset look.
-
I think that would be awesome!!
-
So I did it. Came up with my Harliquin scheme. I play frozen stars so sticking to their fluff colorwise. Here is the first.
You can ask Cav about this being a big deal. I failed over and over to come up with a scheme I liked. Finally.
-
Good work, Dread 8), the color scheme works even without the checker pattern.
Now get that army in the paint workshop ;D.
-
Aye, aye captain. I actually started a few others after posting this pic so should have more up soon.
And so far...
-
(https://i.ibb.co/9VjTykF/20200330-181336.jpg)
-
Oh boy! My bf just got me a virus relief package to help me from going bonkers during the shutdown.
Now I got some good distraction building to do.
Finished some commission jobs yesterday. Haven't painted a Dark Angel in a long time. Enjoyed this one a lot.
-
Hey Dread, those Frozen Stars are looking terrific. As always, your airbrush work puts the rest of us to shame.
I really like the Dark Angel too. Very brooding and oozing that DA energy.
Great work man!
-
Thanks Loosh! Glad to see you're around.
So I did a thing. I bought, a few weeks back, the makings of a tau kill team. I don't actually play tau in 40k but wanted something different for kt. I spent this afternoon doing a quick paint on them. So here they are...
Haha, my wife named the the "Poison Frogs".
So now I'll get my aim back on to my Frozen Stars.
-
Wow Dread you've been dropping some bombs in here :)
Your take on the Frozen Stars looks amazing! Really nice star work
I like the concept you did with the Tau, they looks awesome on the table as a skirmish set.
-
A bunch of cool stuff, Dread! Go nuts on those Gloomspite! They all look really fun to paint!
I second (or third) that the frozen stars scheme so far is looking grand. How are you doing the star pattern?
-
Thanks bud. I start with a base, white or black depending on if I want bright or dark. The trick is rip a piece of poster board , curving it into shapes, then hold the desired shape where you want to have it and spray along the edge. The ripped board gives a not so smooth edge kinda like clouds. I started with black then blended a dark blue to a medium blue to a light blue. Afterwards I go back and use the dark blue to fog over the lighter shades then crisp up the black. The stars are the easy part, water down white 50/50 then use a stiff bristle brush and flick it towards the area you want them. It's time consuming but has a nice presence in the end. I've not used my air brush on to many small models but on the bigger ones it's great piece of equipment to have.
I'm getting close to finishing my first sisters squad.
-

Squad 1 all done.
-
They look great Dread and I like the choice of cloth colour, it will really bind the army together :)
-
I'm also loving your sisters, Dread! They look wonderful!
It's strange because you almost accomplished a similar scheme I was thinking about when I wanted to do a Sisters force.
Except the main armor would basically be turquoise, and the robes white :).
-
Thanks Myen'Tal! So I'm switching gears again. I'm trying to save my cauldron. It's got some paint build up on it so some of the detail is lost. I also cut the square bases of my old witches and put them on rounds.
Since my DoK are still a small force, I'm gonna try and get them done. After business is back, I'm gonna get one more box so I can have my 3 battle line units. Nice thing is I settled on a color scheme.
I'll keep picking at my other models but keep at it. My Tau commander is almost done. Just a little detail and base.
Everyone stay healthy.
-
looking good so far, the statue make a good Avatar for 40k too :)
-
Thanks. Got a lot more to do on it. I have an Avatar set up for my Eldar too.I also have my metal one.
**just noticed the black over spray from painting on my cauldron, hmm, happy accident**
Here's my DoK scheme. Still a wip. I need some base color suggestions?
-
Loving the new models, Dread, that Slaughter Queen, love the color scheme on her!
Well done, friend :).
-
Thanks for that. I've done a lot to the rest of them, just not enough for pics yet. I also moved to my sisters tanks so I didn't get burn out working on them. Here's a wip on the tanks.
(https://i.ibb.co/2vxNb7B/20200423-193341.jpg) (https://ibb.co/3p2zJyH)
(https://i.ibb.co/gFTqHtQ/20200423-193319.jpg) (https://ibb.co/845vTPG)
I think they're turning out OK for being refurbished. I have less than $50 in the 4 of them instead of over $300. Makes me happy.
-
They look awesome Dread, and for only $50 daaaaang, that's just icing on the cake :)
-
For $50, that's an absolutely amazing deal and you've made it look quite good. Love the extra detail you've added :).
-
Thanks bunches. Picking at things is getting them all closer to done and keeps me from burning out.
SECRET PROJECT...
This will probably give it away but I am so happy with how this turned out.

Nice base, Dread! Always loved lava bases, but it seems like a chore to create good ones lol.
-
You're not wrong about that. I've always built my models all the way, base and all. Doing this has interrupted my norm. But all the bases are done now, whew, and all the models that go on them are assembled and primered. They will be a short excursion but they will be hot when they're done. Hint hint, wink. Just a start collecting box i obtained.
-
ooo very nice molten effect on the base, an Avatar would look sick on that base :)
-
Thanks and that's a super idea. I'm glad I haven't painted my plastic one yet, hmm!
And now for a brief interlude...a blast from the past. My first Deathwing dreadnought from 2nd ed 40k. With a custom built assault cannon(they didnt have that wsy back then).Enjoy!
(https://i.ibb.co/XFbb47Q/20200501-165422.jpg) (https://ibb.co/JrKKdv1)
-
love the kill count on the side :)
-
Now that's old school.
Nice, Dread ;D.
-
So much hobby going on here Dread!
I'm a big fan of that old Dread...what was it? The Furioso or something? I remember owning one of those...it's probably barely bigger than a Primaris now!
For your DoK...I think you have to go something quite neutral for the base. There's a lot of bold colour on the figure, so it needs to stand out from than. So probably anything brown...maybe grey...maybe (although it may actually look too close to elements of the model). One thing I would consider is making the skint one a touch more pale. It's very striking, but I think you need slightly more definition between the cloth and the skin...just my 2 cents though.
The painting is glorious though bud, so I'm looking forward to you cranking out some more of the girls.
-
Thanks guys! Appreciate everything.
Good to hear from you Loosh. On my DoK, haven't quit got there on the flesh tones yet. This is actually the first time I've been happy with the flesh on them but I too have been thinking about highlighting them. Thanks bud.
Now on too the secret project. I've wanted these guys since they came out. So being on lock down, I got the start collecting box. Probably all I'll ever get. So here is the first part finished.

Anyhow, I love how they've turned out. The drake is almost done, will post him with the Runefather when finished.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. 8)
-
Dread! Dude! These guys are the actual bomb!
Really sick work all round. You've managed a really good, uniform finish on all of them that just looks superb. I like that the bases are magmaesque, but still a bit understated (I find they often take a lot of attention away from the models if they're too ostentatious).
Lovely work, nicely done!
-
They look awesome Dread, great work and those are some killer bases :)
-
Great work, Dread, those are some snazzy and smooth Fyreslayers!
Are you starting an army of them? 8)
-
Thanks guys. These were done so differently than most everything I've done. The flesh, contrast paint! New tool that really works. The bases, way different than anything I've tried before.
Probably not Myen'Tal. If opportunity presents in the future then maybe but just getting these saited a want i had. Now we're gonna run a start collecting event at our local store, soon, I hope.
-
I did it, finally. Got my slayer dad on his ride done. Here he is...

Now on to my next project, work on my harlequins. 8)
-
Awesome work, lots of really nice blending Dread.
-
That fiery orange is incredible and makes that model look even better than it actually is. That is a seriously good painting technique that you have used there.
-
That is absolutely awesome work, Dread!! I think it's one of your best! Excellent job!
-
Wow Dread, that thing is sweet! That model looks seriously hot, figuratively and literally!
Really great work and an absolute homerun centrepiece. Fantastic.
-

-
Wonderful work, Dread! I really like the icy colors in your color scheme, really makes the Harlequins stand out in a good way.
-
The harlequin and the slayer king look absolutely amazing Dread! Very nice work! :)
-
Thank you so much guys. It's been good fun going at my models again and getting somewhere with them. Now to add to that, my Falcon MRK 2..

-
very nice falcon upgrade :)
the ice/snow flake on the Harlie looks great, very nice touch tot he frozen stars.
-
I like that Harlequin Dread. I think the colour scheme is spot on and the brushwork on the bulk of the model is very nice. If I could suggest one thing though, it would be to use a slightly thinner brush and thin your paints more when you do the freehand stars on the cloak. It looks fine as is, but I think you could easily take the overall 'wow' factor up a couple of notches by tidying up those cloak details.
Looking forward to seeing what you do with those Falcons; you're vehicles always make me very envious!
-
Yup, you're so right. I was so tired when I got to that point and should have waited. I painted the star, the top point got rounded so went back with the blue to sharpen it, over did it. Got on that merry go round til I said stop. But have no fear, the sand paper is going after it and then we'll see.
Thanks for the comments guys, really keeps me on track.
As for the falcons, I've waited for GW to upgrade them for a long time. Not that I don't love the original, because I do, but with the prism and spinner turret, which is so cool, I've waited. Now that I've gone through the work of doing these, you know what'll happen....Let's hope.
So, a few years ago I was working on a paint scheme. I practiced on these 2 falcons. Finally I got them out and actually finished them. The 2 new ones will be painted in the same scheme. Herr are the older ones.

Those look absolutely awesome, Dread!!!
I'm loving the galaxy pattern you've created on them. Looks so fancy!
-
I concur, they’re absolutely fantastic! Well done Dread! :)
-
Thanks guys. They've been a hoot to paint. Now on to the next.
In the beginning there was plastic (insert world creating music here)...
(https://i.ibb.co/r7MWtZM/20200523-104504.jpg) (https://ibb.co/ngfW0Df)
And so the story begins...
-
So, a few years ago I was working on a paint scheme. I practiced on these 2 falcons. Finally I got them out and actually finished them. The 2 new ones will be painted in the same scheme. Herr are the older ones.
I remember the first time I saw Dread's Craftworld Nebula Blog (http://www.40konline.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=9e88b87513604f4e714d036e3160bff0&topic=228534.0) back in 2015. I was blown away then and I am blown away now. That nebula paint scheme is just mind bogglingly brilliant.
-
Dread that old nebula paint scheme is awesome!
pointy eared kin with the head of a space marine as a trophy.. just hits the spot every time ;)
-
Noice... Drazhar is going to be amazing!
-
Thanks guys. So magenb, what chapter of marines should I do the helmet?
As for the man, themyth, the legend, here is the first nights work. Still lots more to do, man the detail on him.

-
Way to drop the mic Dread :) that looks awesome. I tend to paint my marine trophies as space wolves as that's what one of my friends plays.. Needless to say lots of Eldar bits have made their way to his bases lol.
-
Awesome, Drazhar looks like he's already come to a pretty good standard :). Cannot wait to see how he progresses further. Loving how the horns came out in particular.
Keep it up, Dread!
-
That Drazhar is looking terrific Dread.
I think the armour tone is one of my favourite things; it reminds me so much of the metallic colours GW released in about 1991 or so. Just something that I haven't seen on a model in a long, long, long time!
Brilliant stuff, I can't wait to see the finished model.
-
I'm all done except trimming the outside of the base and clear coat.
(https://i.ibb.co/2Stq9DB/20200603-003357.jpg) (https://ibb.co/7QWvfwF)
(https://i.ibb.co/BgM1RQc/20200603-003254.jpg) (https://ibb.co/D72qnvz)
I will post more pics once I've sealed him.
-
That is an astonishing colour scheme and I think it looks brilliant. There is something very Harlequinesque about it that lends it an air of mystery.
Your base just blows me away.
-
All done! The proudest I've been in a long time. Took my time, hands were semi steady and I feel accomplished. For those of you that know me, I'm always hard on myself. Thanks to everyone for all your support.

that looks awesome, I like your take on the ruins, the weathering looks really good.
-
I got one of each done. Just feeling the waters a bit to see what I like best. Satisfied, I am.
(https://i.ibb.co/4tZ4nfx/20200605-021459.jpg) (https://ibb.co/wgNpFL1)
-
You're taking that galaxy theme to a whole new level, Dread! 8) And Drazhar, well done! You should be proud of the end result, he looks awesome!
-
they are looking fantastic Dread
-
Thanks guys. I have to say I've been getting more done since the lock down happened. I'm getting into my harlequins and DE mainly. Finished my 1st DJ.

Thanks for stopping by. 8)
-
Excellent, Dread, he looks amazing!
The bases you're doing really give each model a good boost in character. I approve :).
-
I'll echo what everyone else has said about Drazhar; he's a terrific centrepiece model that you've done an excellent paint job on. The base in particular really pops and makes the mini come to life. Excellent effort Dread.
As for the Death Jester; sublime man. Really sublime. So imposing, yet a clean, well balanced paint job.
Keep it coming Dread, you're really on a roll!
-
really nice work on the DJ, the blue is such a nice combo
-
I got back to my SoB for a bit.
Just have the bases left to do.
(https://i.ibb.co/k0tvp3B/20200715-221312.jpg) (https://ibb.co/xGNdymL)
-
Dread, those look absolutely wonderful! If I've been busy then you've been on the assembly line ;D! Love the colors you chose, is that grey knight steel on the armor?
-
Thanks bud. The armor is actually a metallic amethyst. I start with black primer, air brush a white pearl and air brush the metallic purple. I wish the pictures could capture it better but my cell phone is the only camera I have.
We're supposed to play a 25 PL patrol game this Saturday night using 9th ed rules. I'm taking
Canoness
Squad of 10 sisters
Hospitalor
Dominion squad of 5
Retributors squad of 5
Rhino
Playing against ad mech. It's gonna be fun, other than a kill team game a few weeks back, this will be my first actual 40k game since before this covid craziness started. I'm jonesing bad for a game so I hope my sisters don't let me down. It was either them or my DE and they won out. I'll post results and maybe even a bat rep.
Also I've been reading Embers a little at a time, no feed back yet, really enjoying it. With work and my folks both getting hospitalized, the wife's car breaking down and trying to get my army all painted for the game, time is eluding me.
-
Hope everything turns out OK with your folk Dread.
Soooo many sisters.. They are looking great, but it looks like they are already being assaulted by admech cavalry!
-

Sorry to hear that you're going through so much, Dread. I'm wishing you all the best. By all means, take your time reading :).

Thanks for the kind words. I got the wife's car fixed but guess it got ran hot to long, spun a rod. Oh well. Turned attention to painting, drown myself in it to clear my head.

I really like that purple hinted armour Dread. It's very subtle but very, very effective.
You've certainly rattled off a lot of sisters in very little time. You're going to have a very impressive army in no time!
-
They all look great, but having the blue and red on either side of the cloth really makes hospitalar pop, fantastic!
-
Thanks for the kind words everyone. This last week has been a real hard one. My mom passed away and things have really been hard. I've been drowning out my heart ache as much as I can keeping busy, distracted. I put my sisters up for a bit and started on Necron-a-palooza.

Its helping but I have a big hole in my heart that our plastic hobby just can't fill. Please cherish your loved ones and enjoy every bit of time you have with them...

I feel for you Dread as there is nothing like the pain and sorrow caused by the loss of loved one. Nothing that I can write can help, so please take comfort from the happy memories of your Mum, and in doing anything that helps give you the strength to get through your sad loss.

I empathise with how you are feeling and I'm really sorry to read this news. I send you all my best wishes during this very difficult and painful time.
Regarding the painting from earlier, you have done a fantastic job with that metallic effect on the power armour. It looks spot on.
-
o man, so sorry Dread, words just aren't enough. Wishing you all the best mate.
-
I echo the sentiments of everyone here. Dread. Please take the time you need to be with your family and celebrate all of your wonderful memories of your mother.
40k online will be here when you're ready and we'll always be supporting you :).
-
Holy crap man! I am so sorry. Take care of yourself and your family
Hugs
Blom

Thanks so much. Yall are the best!
-
Hey Dread, I'm so sorry to hear your news. I lost my Step Dad last year which was awful, but it probably pales in comparison to losing your mother. My thoughts are with you and your family.
If you need to chat or vent or anything, please feel free to vent here, or DM if you'd prefer. Hopefully, in our own, small way, we can help take your mind off things and make your world a little less gloomy.
-
Thanks a bunch Looshkin. It means a lot. My mom's funeral was small but really beautiful. It has been hard to keep my mind still. The bad thing is we found out that we may have been exposed to covid at the funeral so we're self quarantining right now as per nurses orders. I'm still waiting for a toilet seat to fall out of the sky and hit me. Just haven't figured out why all this bad is happening at once. The good has been getting 2 sets of the new necrons and the new rule book, been busy building them and painting the new ad mech models for my friend. We were supposed to get our first 9th ed game in tomorrow night but, well, you know. My dad seems to be getting better in the nursing home so hopefully he'll get to go home in a few weeks so there is that, if the doctors say he can take care of him self. I'm so ready to start rolling dice. Peace to you all and God bless. 8)
-
Ah, life really is taking a dump on you right now. I'm glad to see that you're keeping a somewhat positive outlook on it; as they say, this too shall pass.
I'm still waiting for a toilet seat to fall out of the sky and hit me.
Not going to lie, I snorted when I read this. It beautifully encapsulates everything that 2019 and 2020 have served up so far.
-
So...wife had test...negative...q uarantine over. Finally some good news.
I did get a lot of building done, so good there too.
Thanks for all the support, ya'll mean the world to me.

Good to hear Dread. The world will right itself at some stage...and when it does at least you'll have a load of minis to paint/play with!
-
Thanks Loosh! So I went and bought a new color today by turbo dork called "let them eat cake". I'm building the new banshees right now and thinking about this color for them.
https://ibb.co/MR6mV2khttps://ibb.co/yXs9gQH (https://ibb.co/MR6mV2khttps://ibb.co/yXs9gQH)
It's a blue to red color shift. It's also a long way from my other craftworld paint scheme. Wanting some opinions, please. Read hair, metallic weapons, gold trim with this as the armor color.
Thanks.
-
I need to make use of some of those color amphetamine parrot paints, I have two from greenstuff world, but have never used them. Don't really know what to use them on lol.

Ooooooooooo!
I've never seen those colour shift paints. I am very, very interested to see how they work out for you. Post pics as soon as you have something!
-
Interesting idea, looking forward to seeing Draz's next Harem ;)
-
Haha! ;D so true bro, so true. So I used the paint last night. I've used 2 of the other colors (like on my DE and necrons) and loved them but this one doesn't color shift worth a shift and it's really dark. I like the color but it's almost black like an egg plant purple. I going to try using some lighter colors as accents and see what happens but have a feeling repaint will happen.
Everyone enjoy your weekend and hopefully get a few games in if it's safe. Hopefully the storm has passed and we'll see some semblance of norm soon. 8)
Start on necron scheme.
(https://i.ibb.co/w7cRXdp/20200808-123130.jpg) (https://ibb.co/BGntxfT)
-
Dread... that is absolutely baller!
I love this scheme :o!
-
Blue metal for Necron's looks great.
If you are looking for a black metal though, vallejo 71.073 is the freakin bomb, that's the model air code, it works like a glaze with a brush or just straight into the airbursh.
-
8) thanks everyone!
Thanks magenb. The blue is on purpose. I've tried of my old scheme so found turbo Dork's color shift "ice to never" color. Blue to purple, unfortunately the pics just won't show it. My main no no rule for my new necrons is no green, of any kind on them other than the money spent on them, haha.
So here's an update to life. My dad is now out of the nursing home and moving out of state to live with my brother and his family. So my wife and I are moving into their house. This has all been decided today. So my hobby time will be gone for a few weeks while moving. Then have to sell my house and then after our lives should get in a better way. Nice thing is my hobby room will be much bigger. But by doing this we don't lose the memories of 43+ years that live in that house.
-
Those Necrons are cool Dread. Really cool. I haven't seen Necrons painted in that colour before, so wasn't sure how much I'd like it...but I think you'e done a really great job. They're menacing as heck and I can't wait to see more come off the production line.
-
(https://i.ibb.co/WBWSmyD/20200908-214506.jpg) (https://ibb.co/3SytgNf)
Here's a blast from the past! I did this Baron Sathonyx conversion just before 6th ed DE DeX came out, then when it did he wasn't in it. He's up for a repaint.
I really wanted to post something, haven't been able to paint and our move is almost over. So soon the brushes will be up and running. 8)
-
That look good! ;D ;D
Happy for you that the move is coming to a close! Can't wait to see you get back into brush mode, Dread!
Thanks!
-
Still looks cool though :)
Hopefully the move is going smoothly.
-
Took the night off from moving, we had a storm blow thru so sat down and pushed a brush for a bit. Working on these three for now.

Looking good Dread, are you using something on the bases for the lumpy dirt effect?
Those trolls in the background look like they'd be super fun to paint too :)
-
The smaller bases are from GW'S bases, they have it molded on already but on Scezar base I used the basing stuff you glue on then prime and paint.
I'm still not happy that the blue doesn't picture well, the color change paints have a hard time showing in a picture.
It's also funny, I thought I only had the bases left on the plasmancer and the prince until I sat down and looked at them. It has been a few weeks since I started on them. Also as you can see in the back ground I'm still trudging along on my gobbopalooza and trolls. Just so much detail, only been more than year since I started on them. 8)
-
Well done, Dread, and it looks like you have even more new kits to tinker with for the Necrontyr :) after the preview today. I love the blue and the hot rod orange look your scheme has going, really makes them look very luminous, which is not the easiest thing to pull off when painting a model.
-
Well the move is over and I finally have some time to paint. The hobby room, while still in disarray, is useable so getting back in the swing. Here is what I finished tonight for my buddy as well as getting a big head start on some of his other units. Enjoy.

(https://i.ibb.co/2nV6Q02/20201005-002913.jpg) (https://ibb.co/gjq7pb1)
I'm still trying to slow down from everything that has transpired the past few months but getting back to the hobby is a real big help. Were starting a crusade at our local store on Tuesday evening, I hope to be in it. All this social distancing has taken a real toll on me and not sure how to get back in the swing of things, wearing a mask for a few hours really doesn't appeal to me but I may suffer thru it to get back to the game.
Hope all is well, stay safe. 8)
-
Whoooh! Dread, the Mechanicus look great! Any chance we can some close up on the flying infantry?
Nice job picking out so many details on the hounds, looks great!
-
Thank you! I enjoyed painting them. So here's a sneak peek at his jump guys. Not done yet but you'll get the idea.

they are looking good Dread. Man they look like they will take up a lot of room on the board, how o they compare to scourges and their giant wings?

Going strong on my necrons.
(https://i.ibb.co/NTKppvc/20201106-084057.jpg) (https://ibb.co/TWtRRf9)
Had a little surgery yesterday. Using the recoup time to build and paint as much as possible.
Hope all is well with everyone.
I also finished a commission job.

Except for the bases i got my first indomitus necrons painted.
(https://i.ibb.co/dbx9bGp/20201107-105526.jpg) (https://ibb.co/gvh1vzW)
-
I hope you are feeling better mate.
ooooo Banshee's very nice colour scheme.
The Necrons are looking great too, but it looks like Nurggle is starting to take hold in the background ;)
Admech is looking good too.
-
Getting better every day my friend. See doc tomorrow to get stint removed and then should be on recovery road.
Very observant on the nurgle front. Im concentrating my efforts there for awhile. Fairly easy paint jobs, you just really cant screw them up haha.
-
So since im joining in on the Idoneth ranks i did a practice base to see how to do ocean stuff. Needs a little tweaking but am happy with results.
(https://i.ibb.co/J5Mm6y6/20201204-073850.jpg) (https://ibb.co/PwfFX9X)
Just the beginning and they will be on round bases this was just a practice run.

Ah, so you started with what I'm personally intimidated with. That's a good thing! Once you conquer the ocean bases, everything you'll find may be much easier!
-
Thanks for that bud. In the new news, early Christmas to me. I got the daughters half of Shadows and pain and a box of sisters of slaughter! I can now make my 2k DoK army, legal that is. So my water elves will have to wait a bit. So excited, finally after waiting since AoS came out. Will post pics as assembly progresses. Also got two more boxes of Skyweavers for my harli's and all the 32 mm bases I'll ever need to add to older models. It's a very plastic Christmas for me.
-
looking good Dread. Did you use textured paints to create the ridges on the sandy side? Been looking for a way to make my Nercon sandy bases less smooth.
-
Actually i used sand and modeling paste together. I stirred the sand in til i got a good consistency and used a modeling tool to spread and shape.

Those necrons look really cool, very interesting paint scheme. :)

Thanks Godspeed! So got a few things going on. I finally built her.
(https://i.ibb.co/kqFX4r9/20201230-174253.jpg) (https://ibb.co/p4pdfsR)
What a model. Really well done by GW. Working on getting the rest of the girls assembled. Post pics soon.
-
So i moved back to my sisters for a bit after getting a canoness for Christmas.
(https://i.ibb.co/6yL1Wgr/20210107-230326.jpg) (https://ibb.co/kGv9SQ5)
Had to rob the power pack off of a repentia superior to achieve the look i wanted but its okay.
Then i was able to score a predator cheap and made my own version of an immolator first using my old grey knights razorback but will have 2 immolators when i dive into the predator kit.

I know it doesnt have the goudy icons and stuff but just cant spend big bucks on the new.
-
Great job, Dread, loving the work on those rhinos!!
-
Nice!
-
Got to put a narrative spin that Dread, was it a case of inquisitorial re-allocation of resources or more of a blood ravens we'll take this for "safe keeping" :)
Looking good though mate.
-
Thanks guys!
So how's about my order is on a far planet that has little support from inquisition so they have acquired the service of a planetary mechanic. Being that their vehicles are so old and have seen a lot of battles, they took parts from space marine razorbacks and the such and made them functional without having to stick a sister up on the vehicle in harms way. Using a gunners system from old SM vehicle put the the gunner sister safely next to the driver inside along with updated tracking systems. My exorcists have the same story being retro fitted from old missile systems from destroyed knights to fire said missiles. The last contact from the inquisition was years ago but my sisters keep their planet safe from evil and xenos alike to the best of their ability.
Would have to do research thru old maps to find a suitable planet for them to be on, maybe some mention of old battles in that sector. Knight houses and marine forces that were there. What was important to others to fight over there like a promethium gas supply or the like. Anyhow...
I'm not a writer...would love to see a story about my Cerulean Shroud order put together but again, not a writer. Ideas I have, building conversions and such, but not writing.
Anyhow thanks for stopping in.
-
Could be gifts from some SM Chapter after they fought extensively together. A symbol of their mutual appreciation. Maybe the Sisters gave away something in turn.
-
8) I like that idea as well. Simple, cool. Thanks.
-
That's actually a good bit of background for your army Dread :) It all just gives your army more character.
-
Thanks, just have to get more done. I finally broke down and got my battle sanctum built.
(https://i.ibb.co/T8vKKGg/20210126-225110.jpg) (https://ibb.co/Kq0NNgr)
(https://i.ibb.co/zV5MnbW/20210126-224952.jpg) (https://ibb.co/RTSFvPG)
Now just have to find time to primer and get to painting.
-
Nice, it's looking great, Dread! Looks like it's coming along nicely :).
-
Nice!
-
looks great Dread. The new terrain kits are a nice size, given the increase in base sizes the older terrain kits can feel a bit too small.
-
Thanks guys. Ive been getting some things done. I broke down and got the Ephrael Stern model. Wasnt happy with her sculpt but it gave me an idea for a Canoness. Having her jump kick a psycher while he was mid cast knocking him to the ground. I love how my conversion turned out.

-
That is a brilliant conversion Dread, and it suits the pose of the Ephrael model perfectly. What model havd you used for the pysker?
-
Hey buddy. So the psycher is part of the Illuminor Scezar necron kit. I have 2 so taking bits from my unbuilt one worked pretty good. Thanks for checking in its good to hear from you.
-
haha smacking it down cause them to roll perils, love it :)
-
Excellent conversion, never would have thought of that! Looks awesome!
-
Nice work! Look forward to seeing it painted!
-
Hey everyone. Making it thru the weird crap going on is good. Got me a new hotrod project going and been doing things on my bestys ratrod.
(https://i.ibb.co/yy1ggfz/20210305-212535.jpg) (https://ibb.co/7W5rrY3)
I drew his grille cover out and he had it c and c'd them i painted it up for him. Now that i can get out a bit more I'll be working on the car stuff more so less time for painting. But i will be watching ya'll s posts with great attention.
More later.
-
very cool. keep us updated on the hotrod progress, would love to hear what it ends up sounding like ;)
-
Will do. I recently got a 29 chrysler sedan. Its a 4 door but bodies are getting hard to find so i feel fortunate to have found it.

Holy crap! That's awesome. And looks like one hell of a job. XD
-
Cool project!!
I'm not too into cars myself, but I've always thought old restoration projects like this were cool.
Please share your progress on this!
-
now that's a project :)

Those are really cool! Is the helmet a conversion? It looks cool.
Great choice of the blue-green color for the cloaks, it looks surprisingly great with the gold and black.
-
Looking great, Dread 8) . Keep it up!
-
Thanks guys.
The helmet is from the canoness box.
-
totally dig that model with the plasma pistol, purge the psyker lol
-
Well lots has happened since i posted here. New job first of all plus so many new model releases. Getting back into gaming with a crusade at our local store. But i couldnt resist this one.
(https://i.ibb.co/TTfsN7w/20210523-121419.jpg) (https://ibb.co/hM6ST4g)
She just really called to me. Cant wait to get started painting but have to find time. 8)

Niiice, are you becoming a soulblight player now, Dread? :)
-
Well i used to have a huge vampire counts army and sold it like an idiot. Anyhow i have a big nighthaunt army so adding some other death army is the plan. I got cursed city, the new vampire lord, and the book all for my birthday and got the start collecting with the mortis engine in it so, yup getting the vamps going. 8)
I still need to finish my idoneth and my DoK and still adding to my night goblins as well. I will not be joining in with aos 3 unless someone else buys it for me. Havent hardly got to play version 2 due to covid so not ready to move on.
Also have all my 40k stuff still going on so plenty to do.
-
soo many great sculpts comming out of AOS, looking forward to see how you paint it up :)
How's the Hotrod going?
-
Yup, to many new sculpts... My gracelirds is already to 1800 pts...in less than 2 weeks. Traded my csm for more vampi goodness.
The hotrod is really coming along. About to begin the floorboard and body repair. Thats gonna be the time consuming stuff.

Hi everyone! Been busy but finally fiund some time for painting.

(https://i.ibb.co/bWdP8RQ/20210607-234243.jpg) (https://ibb.co/WxK6YpG)
Getting settled into the new job finally and getting a life rutine figured out. Getting some gaming in, painting/building as well as work on the hotrod. Tired a lot which is good, signs of accomplishment I'm told.
New sisters stuff coming soon so eccited.
-
That's a badass color scheme!
-
Thanks kindly. 8) when i started the new ones i wanted different so rebel colors.
They can remove my...
-
Excellent work, Dread, they look like an army of terminators! As they should be... ;D
-
Whoa Dread those Necrons look amazing. Strange thing to say, and I can't put my finger on just why, but I would never have guessed these models had been painted by you. I don't know if it is the colour scheme, or the models, but there is something subtly different about the overall look. Have you got a new spray gun/set of brushes?
-
Thanks guys.
@Alienscar. Well a bit of both. I did get a new air brush as well as some new brushes and also trying out some of the vallejo air paints. The silver anyway. The blue is just the cheap metalics you get at craft stores thinned 50/50 with distilled water.
-
So hi everyone! Been awhile. Ive been building lots of models but not painting so much. Soon will be remeding that. Anyhow i did a small conversion tonight and wanted to share her. I recently bought a Dogmata for my sororitas army and decided i wanted 2 so used the extra bits from her on one of my banner bearers and came up with this.
(https://i.ibb.co/CzL9fZQ/20210802-034528.jpg) (https://ibb.co/qd6gvfp)
Nothing really spectacular but functional for the role.
Enjoy! 8)
-
looks great Dread, love the staff.
-
Really awesome conversion, Dread! :)
-
Hi everyone. Been a bit. No painting to really speak of, been having hand problems again, oh well learning to push thru. Got a commish drawing job for a 2015 dodge charger. Havent drawn in a long time due to hands but pushed thru while cramping and burning and got it done. Whew! Think it might push me back to painting soon.
(https://i.ibb.co/CnZJRS6/20210923-230744.jpg) (https://ibb.co/Q6R8yxk)
Thanks for stopping by. 8)
-
That car looks like a four wheeled version of Ghost Rider's motorbike :D. It could also pass for an alternative version of the car from Knight Rider. Either way, you have seriously good drawing skills Dread. I hope that your hand feels better soon.
-
That is some crazy cool and stylish work, Dread!
Lovin' it!
-
that looks awesome Dread, well done. Hope you get better soon mate.
-
Hey Dread, how are you hands doing? Just checking on you :). Managed to get any painting done. I sent you a PM by the way, if you want to check your messages!
Also about that necrons pilars of convergence thing... how did you get that soft metallic blue effect on them? It looks really striking!
-
Hey Myen'Tal. Hands are a bit better right now, i think. Thanks for asking. Havent gotten any painting done lately but lots of building. I ve done 2 commision drawings in the past few weeks tho.
(https://i.ibb.co/cJXh12b/20210923-230744.jpg) (https://ibb.co/TcqMkPK)
(https://i.ibb.co/Sntwgh7/20211014-003654.jpg) (https://ibb.co/YkcBSzT)
As for the convergence i used a metallic blue from hobby lobby and my air brush over black primer. Just one pass.
I will message you more later.
Thanks 8)
-
they looks great Dread.
What's with the hole pinky finger thing?
-
Well the pinky finger thing i started years ago when i started doing the rat fink style drawing. Its my little signature thing i do.
-
So what's the inspiration behind this style of art, which looks really cool!
Great job on them by the way! ;D
It reminds me of those like 70-80s hot rod paint jobs you'd see in the movies. Greese is a good example, but I can't remember if the cars in that had body art or not.
-
Back in the 50s a man named Ed Roth created a character named Rat Fink. It became really big in the hotrod world and even had comics, toys, models, t-shirts etc. Been a big influence on me since i was a kid and being a hotrodder and artist it inspired me to crwate my own style. Look up rat fink on google and you'll see what i mean.
-
Eyh, I've seen Rat Fink around before!
It also reminds me of 90s underground comics for adults that were popular over here. Really exaggerated comical grossness.
-
Hi everyone! So i finally gave painting a go so started on Luaka Vai...finally. Went about an hour. Pesky hands. Anyway here is the beginning.
(https://i.ibb.co/XSZvZSN/20211101-234627.jpg) (https://ibb.co/WgWYWgq)
-
looks great Dread, the dark bronze is a good fit for this model.
-
Awesome work, Dread, that looks like it might be your finest work to date when its finished! Fitting for a great comeback to the brush! :)
-
8) thanks. Hope to work on it some more in the next few nights. Was going to do color armor but decided metallics.
-
So never was able to get back on her...yet. Saw the doc. Dont have bad carpral tunnel but found out what the pain is from. I have tendonitis which ive mnown for years but the kicker is i have major nerve damage in my elbows. Thats what causes my hands to hurt so much. No surgery so thats good but some compression sleeves and meds.
On another note since i havent been painting minis i did this today for a friend.
(https://i.ibb.co/VNJkXbc/20211213-175902.jpg) (https://ibb.co/xsXrVwt)

Ah crap, sorry to hear about the nerve damage. :/ I hope the help you're getting is making a difference.
Love the pic, not often I see landscape monocrhome(?), and it's really cool!

Sorry to hear about the nerve damage, my friend. I am glad though that it won't require any surgeries :).
Beautiful landscape portrait - the monochrome gives me the impression of a winter wonderland beneath an evening dusk.
Hope you're on the mend, Dread!
-
duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu ude that is awesome, well done!
-
AH Dread, I'm sorry to hear about your health woes. I suffered with a bit of nerve damage after my bicep tendon surgery, so I can understand how debilitating it can be. I really hope that the compression sleeves and meds do the trick and alleviate the issue. All the best, and hopefully you'll see some better times ahead.
I came for the minis...but I'll definitely stay for the art. You have some serious talent my friend. That landscape is gorgeous.
-
So my hands are working better but then my eyes went nuts. Suffering from some double vision. Weird. Anyhow the past few weeks have sucked. No painting, drawing or building models. However today i realized that if i work on my nighthaunt i didnt need clear vision so much. I started collecting this army when it came out and have been adding to it here and there but recently was able to get a bunch really cheap. I build them as soon as i get them but then they just sit. So today i got them primed and base colored so when my vision is fixed i can get after the details. Heres the fruits of my labor today.

This is the green over lay.
105 models...and some touch up on a few of my others.
Thanks for checking in and hope everyone is well.
-
That's quite a swarm of ghost, Dread! They look awesome!
Sorry to hear about your ongoing medical woes, but we're all wishing you a swift recovery, my friend! Hope you can get back to painting and seeing well soon! Also hope your hands are mending good!
-
ooo ghostly green, reminds me of slimer :)
I hope things clear up for you soon mate.
-
Never have I seen so many breakable, thin swirls on an army. Makes me nervous just looking at it, lol! I hope everything goes well, and also that your health improves.
-
Thank you everyone for the well wishes. They worked. Because i changed my diet, eating healthy, my eyes are even better so now i can get back to doing my thing. They said i was boarder line diabetic which i have corrected. Still need glasses to see up close but thats ok.
As for my swirly things. They are more resilient than you would think. Im trying to get my entire army painted before march. I challenged a friend to a game then so...
Heres a pic of it all.
(https://i.ibb.co/RTbYGJK/20220208-005412.jpg) (https://ibb.co/yFPdmxC)

Originally i was just going to make everything look ghostly but after looking at so many others work decided to up my game a bit. This is the first re-finished.
Heres the second set in a vast sea of painting to do.

Looking Epic Dread. The stage coach is super sweet and you've achieved such a good, universal effect on the hordes. Top shelf stuff, sweet work man!
-
Oooh - Dread, that Black Coach looks epic, wasn't expecting that spectral sight, but it looks awesome. I can tell you put a lot of time into those smaller details, but that is what adds up and makes the whole come to life. Also, all the nighthaunt look really crisp - like the color fades you managed to achieve.
-
That Black Coach looks incredible. I love the spectral effect that you've managed to create and the red drapes on the coach itself are fantastic.
-
Got to agree with Irisado, that coach is looking fantastic, great work Dread
-
Yeah, it looks amazing!
-
Thanks guys! Feels good to pick up the brushes again. Here is 5 more finished.
(https://i.ibb.co/8gWyDJF/20220216-234230.jpg) (https://ibb.co/wh9nNTD)

I had to put my haunt up for s bit. Have a friend that wants to buy my DoK but wants them all painted so here is my take on them so far.

Awesome work, Dread, I feel like you're churning out a lot of high calibre stuff since your triumphant return - quite some cool stuff.
-
Thank you so much. It feels good to have my sight back. Still a bit shakey in the hands but pushing thru. Its been so fun to get busy on everything. Soon as i finish the dok i can get back to my eldar. More specificslly my wraith units. Until then...
-
really like your colour scheme here, and the old school banner is a nice touch too :)

Thanks. Heres a little more...

Awesome work, Dread, definitely a good use of a minimal color palette - a lot of different shades of the same general color gradient. I'm usually the opposite (to a fault) - but the gold stands out a lot because of this - I actually think it works very well!
Look forward to seeing more.
Also, I said I wasn't going to buy anymore of the new eldar models until I finished my ranger teams and some of my backlog. That was a lie, lol.
-
they look fantastic Dread, they are going to look amazing as an army on the table :)
-
Thanks guys. Well mage, just finishing them because i got them sold but i will start collecting another with the same paint scheme once the arena of shades box drops.
-
I absolutely love the colour palette. The contrasts of the colours and the different shades of purple have turned out really well.
-
The Khaine statue is a great centrepiece, really dig the shading of the recesses.
-
Thanks.
Here is one of my favorite models.
(https://i.ibb.co/9sz521V/20220314-101013.jpg) (https://ibb.co/MMW0ptG)
-
Great scenic base - no doubt depicting Ulgu, I'd bet. The whole model looks awesome, Dread, great work again!
-
such a nice model, the colour scheme really work for it to, great work Dread.
-
Thanks guys. I really like this color scheme. To bad i have them sold. Ha its the first filly painted army ivr had in a while and wont see any play time. Oh well, ive started collecting them again already and will still use this scheme. Im also glad to have my eyes back, hands are still a bit iffy but im mustering thru. 8)
-
That final model turned out really well. You managed to get all the colours and their contrasts spot on. I particularly appreciate the subtle changes in the different shades of purple and violet.
-
Thank ya'll so much. I really enjoyed these. Now on to my beliced Eldar. Started assembling the start collecting box. Heres the wraithlord.
(https://i.ibb.co/THzpMYh/20220326-210052.jpg) (https://ibb.co/GVgBQnP)
Wanted a really dynamic pose. Think i got it.
-
Nice, that is awesome! Wish I had the courage to break minis into poses like that lol!
-
Give it jazz hands!
-
looks good, can't want to see it painted up :)
-
I think you got what you wanted Dread. That pose is full of life and character. Looking forward to seeing it painted up.
-

-
First off - that's a dope Fire Prism.
I like the smooth transition from crimson to near black you got going on the hull. My favorite part is how you painted the 'prisms' on the main gun itself - looks really neat.
Cannot wait to see some more Craftworlds coming out from you 8).
-
Thanks you sir. Glad you like the flow. Its actually color change paint so ill try to catch a few pics to show that. As for the prism, honestly it was a happy accident. Not what i had envisioned but turned out better then i thought it would. Stiil have a little to do on it but once the gloss clear is shot on it it will pop hard. Thanks again.
-
the paint looks very smooth on the fire prism, and the glowing yellow on the crystals has come out really well, well done.
-
That fire prism looks fantastic dread. Sleek and sinister lol
-
Thanks guys. It feels good to have my eyes back as well as my hands. Sat down tonight and drew this for my nephews birthday. It is his Model A we built 12 years ago.

A great way to spend 4th of July. This is my fire works.
-
Excellent work, Dread!
That's an awesome vehicle right there - reminds me of something straight out of hotwheels (If anyone remembers what that is).
Glad you had a great 4th of July!!
-
Damn, the paint work looks pristine!
-
Thank you for the kind words on the ole hotrod.
So i have been fighting covid the past more than a week. Congestion is finally getting better and the aches are almost gone. Fatigue is a big part of it but i did manage to paint 3 of my minis. It was a struggle but managed. Heres some pics.

It set me back a couple of weeks on the hotrod too but should be driving her soon. 8)
-
Oooh, that's a REALLY cool color scheme. Very classic ghosts. It's honestly strange that I've never seen this before!
-
Thanks. Its the original idea i had when the nighthuant were released. I wanted a etherael look and kinda used the return of the kings ghost look as a refrence. Think it worked out. Was gonna do the whole army that way then decided to paint the caporial stuff. Over all im happy with the look.
-
hopefully you get better soon mate.
Really like the way you did the candles and the book on the stand, looks awesome.
The hotrod is looking fantastic too, that's a lot more fun than any fireworks :)
-
As you can see by the pic im about to go on a big journey with this project.

Awesome, that's a big project! Looking forward to seeing it painted!
-
Almost ready. Got to drive her yesterday. Here is a pic of my nephew and myself with our hotrods.
(https://i.ibb.co/CWQJbMv/20220807-130032.jpg) (https://ibb.co/N7K19mp)
Now i can start turning my attention back to painting minis more.
-
Great Hotrods, Dread, they look beautiful!
-
Thsnks buddy. It has been a labor of love for sure. A few more tweaks and a couple more weeks and i should be bringing her home.
Now for some reason im getting the "finish my necrons" voice in my head. We will see.
-
Welcome to the titan party ;)
That one isn't too bad in terms of building it. I wish I had more experience before building mine, the biggest thing is plan it out first. How are you going to transport it, how are you going to move it around a table top. Then lots and lots of pinning. Good luck :)
Sweet rides too, bet they are a lot of fun :)
-
Thsnks mage. Well the thing on the titan is that its not mine. My boss is commisioning me to build and paint it. So...now im try to decide if i want to make molds and build one for myself before i build it.
-
Heres the build. Pinned everything.

(https://i.ibb.co/w7Txtjm/20220825-015546.jpg) (https://ibb.co/f9bPJLw)
Next will be designing the base with the left leg crushing down on a building...i think.
-
Some progress...finally.

Yoo, this looks absolutely excellent!
I would definitely rank this among one of your finest works, Dread. I love the Revenant's armor - the subtle pattern effect and the gems are top-notch and my favorite parts. And the diorama looks absolutely stellar - love that wrecked Baal predator! The crater the Revenant is stepping in is awesome too!
-
Thanks! I'm jealous because this is for a friend. He's the one that bought my Eldar from me. Always wanted one and finally got to paint one.
-
Awesome! Glad that you got to finally paint one!
Your friend should be proud to have that :).
-
Yup he was ecstatic.it was really fun. Now I'm turning my attention back on my necrons. Mainly my new kill team. 8)
-
Nice - I can't wait to see them on the paint table!
-
They're coming up next but in the mean time wanted you to see that I finally got all my idoneth assembled and ready for paint.
(https://i.ibb.co/YbrQLxB/20221031-153014.jpg) (https://ibb.co/Km1hrJx)
It's been what, 2 years or so since I started collecting them. So now getting ready for a mass paint session with them. First thing tho is my necron kill team.
-
Ooh snap! They're going to look awesome - can't wait to see!
Looking forward to seeing the scheme you choose :).
-
Thanks bud. Now here is my Necron kill team.

Up next: Idoneth! Even tho I still need to build my daughters of khaine hehe.
-
Looking awesome, Dread! Love the black and metallic green combination - looks like they are fighting inside somewhere dark and close quarters.
-
That titan looks great Dread, well done
-
Thanks guys.
The titan sold for $1300. Big smile on my face.

Well it always seems to happen...to me. Started building my night shroud necron bomber and got 2 number 4 engines and no number one. So now it's on hold til I can figure out if I can get one. :P
So I fell on to the Deathguard wagon. Have a nice force already. In the building stags now and will post pics when painting starts. 8)

That looks awesome, Dread, grand work!
Love the texture of the stone and the gradient on the skin and wings!
-
Oh, that skin is REAL leathery. Makes me feel almost uneasy. Well done.
