Hydra Point question.
« on: June 3, 2010, 06:34:24 AM »

Okay so in the Apocalypse rulebook it has a datasheet for the Hydra and says it costs XXXpts but in the snazzy little codes it says they cost XXpts? The only difference I can see is that the apocalypse one just the AA mount special rule.

Which one of these listing is the correct points value?

the hydra came out in the newer codex and the hydra in the apocalypse was out before it came in the codex. so, both are legal and exact, but the one w/ AA can only be used in apocalypse. easy answer.

So if me and you were to have an apocalypse battle and I bought hydras from the codex would they be hitting your flighters on a 6?

If you took it as the data sheet from the Apocalypse book you would be able to get AA mount

if you took it as a standard codex entry then only the codex rules (cheaper)

the difference in the two is the points, this points difference is the AA mount (not technically)

Really?! That's the way I thought about it too. I really hoped that wasn't right. I could buy almost 3 'normal' hydras for one AA one. That's stupid.

Thank you anyway, both of you.

Or take a look at the IA update on the Forgeworld website and get a Hydra for the Guard Codex cost with the Apoc' special rules...

The original Hydra was grossly overcosted, even with an AA mount (since aircraft could pretty much always get a round of shooting off on said Hydra when they arrive). Comparing with the Thunderbolt even made it worse.
