All quiet on the painting table but lets check the gaming table
Its an Imperial Navy and Tau team up against a huge chaos fleet! Here a Dictator Class carrier (The Lasting Damage) and a Hero class move to engage and destroy a Chaos Slaughter cruiser's outflank attempt.
Three Chaos cruisers charge into battle. The Imperial Navy cruiser (The Zero Gravitas) tries to hold the line with the Tau merchant ships. Everyone is taking a lot of damage here...
The cruiser gives the chaos ships a bloodied nose but gets bundled into a slaanesh cruiser sandwich in boarding actions (not ideal!). The chaos ships are both on fire due to critical hits and the Imperials hold off the boarders for now...
Desolation battleship wades in as backup, and the Imperial defenders take heavy casualties but heroic bomber support from the nearby Mars Battlecruiser manages to cause enough damage to prevent a wipeout. Melee combat continues...
(The bombers managed two hits, both critical hits, and a hull breach for enough damage to take away the chaos outnumbering bonus)
The Mars Battlecruiser looks on in horror as the torpedos from the Cobra Destroyer Squadron destroy the Desolator Battleship which then warp drive explodes, destroying the Lunar class it was boarding causing a plasma drive overload, the last Murder class is also caught im both explosions and itself has a plasma drive explosion... everything has exploded. Everything.
An Imperial/Tau victory! Due to the map campaign the planet being fought over goes to the Tau. My Imperial Squadron are waaaay out of their controlled sector and clearly got involved to shoot up some chaos. The "Zero Gravitas II" will be commissioned shortly!
Battlefleet gothic is such fun, truely the game of kings.
I did, ah, acquire some new light cruisers so will paint those up very soon. How I'll replicate 1990s space wolf grey at this time I'm not yet sure...
