I just like that your title says, "Because beslubber you, that's why!" That's awesome. I laughed for like, 2 minutes.

I don't know how to critique a 10000 point list. I don't think that balance issues mean much at that point.

If you can swing it, a full Battle Company would be handy to free up the last points to let you use all your models?

I would like to build towards a Battle Company, but I've never really focused on building up a sufficient number of basic marines because the Deathwing and Ravenwing have always been more interesting to me.

But I've seen what a Battle Company can do in a Maelstrom game and I would like to build it for a tournament list.

As for the list, yeah... there really isn't much to critique with a 10,000 list.  It does help that I will be playing against Chaos Space Marines because Deathwing just love smashing them some heretics!

I guess the only thing would be if your opponent runs much of the AP3 Template weapons that Chaos has to offer. Helldrakes, Burning Brand, even Slaaneshi Champs with the Loud-Noise-Makes-You-Dead thing. [Whoops. Wrong Wing. Was thinking Ravenwing.]

And a million Nurgley Daemon Princes... with Be'Lakor riding shotgun. I don't know if multiple Daemon Princes can join together into a super-unit, but invisible, shrouded, smashy mcsmashersons all flying around wrecking up the place would be something I'd think about at 10 000 points. :)

You should snap a few pics and post them up. I don't get to see that kind of crazy very often.

I guarantee that there will be plenty of pictures being taken.

And the madness is over.  Holy beslubber balls are my legs sore from standing on the concrete floors for so long.

We got to the store at 1030 and we called the game at 1900 because the store closed at 2000.  We managed to get in 4 full turns, and a lot of amphetamine parrot died.  I mean... a lot of amphetamine parrot.  We played a simple Maelstrom mission of drawing 3 objectives with the pitched battle 12" deployment whatever-the-beslubber-it's-called.  I got lucky early in the game with the objectives I was able to complete and finished with a score of 10-8.

Some of the highlights:
  • Abaddon going toe to toe with an Imperial Knight and getting a D-weapon to the face.
  • The first model destroyed was one of my Imperial Knights, which promptly scattered onto my Ravenwing Support Squadron and blew up 2 Land Speeders with the D-strength explosion of the Catastrophic Damage table.
  • Harlequins reaching his lines and clearing out a 12" radius of table space before having that gap closed in by chaos and getting utterly obliterated.
  • Slaanesh chaos lord + bikes charging a unit of Terminators, killing half, then being counter-charged by Azrael and friends.
  • My Imperial Knight with one remaining hullpoint being shot at by 6 Meltas; a Blast Master; a Battle Cannon; and 2 Plasma Guns, from all four armour facings and surviving.  Not once did he roll higher than a three, including the times he was rolling 2D6 for Melta.  Then being hit once by an Autocannon against the facing with the Ion Shield and dying.

Anyways, as promised, here are the pictures!

Deployment

My deployed forces

Chaos opponent's deployment.

He still had a significant portion of his army deep strike later in the battle.

I seized the initiative and went first, but didn't destroy a single unit as I focused my fire on one of his knights, bringing it down to one hull point.

Opponent's first turn

Turn two:  The Deathwing Arrives!

Bottom of turn 4:  The final moves of the game

Check out the dead pile at the end of the table!  How epic is that?  lol.  The Harlequins were virtually wiped out, and I lost 27 of the Terminators.

And finally, a bonus series of pictures for you.  The manager of the store is... average height.  Probably around 5'8".  He wanted to get a good, high angle shot of the table, and as he had his phone over his head one of his regulars came up behind him and said "Just trust me..."

I think I'll let the pictures do the talking!

The second picture is my favourite.  I took it after telling him to drop his hands because I wanted to get a shot of the terror on his face!  On the upside, the picture that he took was pretty good:

Looks like a good time.

At 10 000 points, does codex creep feel more pronounced, or less? Is there even really a power level difference when you're cracking that many shots back and forth?

It really is hard to say, there is so much stuff going on at that point level that you really can't tell.  If I had the stuff to do a Battle Company, then maybe it would have been more apparent.  He also wasn't playing pure Chaos Space Marines, he had brought in units from the Khorne Daemonkin, I believe.

Now, if it were Eldar or Tau then there is a good chance the Chaos side would have been blown off the table in the first turn.  But the game really did feel evenly matched.
