What size game do you typically play?
« on: December 25, 2017, 11:19:06 AM »
Out of curiosity - what size (and power or points) do you all tend to play at?

At my local shop, we tend to do power (not my preference but that's what most there do) and 30 - 50 power at that.

I enjoy the smaller sized games, as they really make every unit count, but I find armies tend to go more mono-build then.

With 6 months of 8th under our belts - what do you all play?
So, what your saying is it's not your fault you look stupid by using words you don't get?
Flawless logic.

We still play 1500pt matched play exclusively. Although an argument could be made for a bit more points (1750).

Any more than that and we feel it's too easy to build a list. 1500 really makes you think about the units you bring and the tactics you'll need to use. Also helps prevent really abusive combos.

In 7th edition we played 1850pts.  When the indexes came out and everything saw a points increase, we bumped it up to 2000pts.  But now that the codexes are dropping points again, we are probably going to decrease back down to 1850 or maybe even 1700.

I try to play 1500-1750, as always.

When the points went up, I saw that as a feature to speed up gameplay--smaller games!

G'day, Faitherun!
Now-a-days it's 1500pts. This is due to responsibilities forcing games to be few and far between, so still getting used to wielding my armies via 8thed.

2000 points typically.

2000 points only when at the FLGS but at home we do 2k or more.

Hopefully will get some Apoc games in this winter.

Typically I play 2,000 pt games with my friends, since a couple own Superheavies and it's hard to fit them in in 1,500 pts. 2,000 pts also seems about right for typical 4 foot x 6 foot table size.

Sometimes we will play 1,500 pts for a smaller, quicker game. I have also played 1,000 pts a couple of times. I almost never play anything below 1,000 pts, though once or twice I have played small games just for fun or to try out the new rules.

As stated above, we normally only play 1,500pters, however, we do have a house rule of one special character per 2000pts. So our usual 1,500 will have no Eldrads and such.
