Keep in mind you are going to get a slightly biased sample wit this seeing as how many of us play Eldar being that this is a forum sponsered by a site promoting "Eldar"...

Well if you look at it, the Eldar are shaping up to have a good year but the injury to Iisis Yyvala, their starting full back does make their offense somewhat one dimentional. With little threat of the run, opponents have been droping back into heavy zone coverage with only a three or four man rush. Most commentators seem of the impression that Eldran Hæemathi should be able to still make this offense work but he's yet to really step up to this new challenge.

As always, the chaos team is doing quite well, even without any sort of coordinated offense. The key is in their strong defensive line. While the secondary might not live up to the glory days back in '97, the defensive line has been able to really put some good pressure on the QB. I'm thinking these guys have a good shot at the playoffs.

The Imperial Guard is a big surprise this year, even with all of the injuries. Marcus Domintianus has really pulled together his team and what they lack in raw tallent they seem to be making up with the kind of iron discipline you'd expect from any good Mordian. Even the Loyalist Marine Coach Octavian Dragonsflare expressed his surprise and commented this human-side team in their excellent defeat of the Greater Good 45-3 last week.

Seeing on how this is a 40k site made for eldar players I think this poll might be a bit biased...even though it is general 40k discussion.  Just a thought.

Yeah. Plus, you counted Eldar and Dark Eldar asone choice, yet they're two completely different armies...

Anyway, for me Guard rule! They're not the fastest, smartest or strongest, but they deserve the sympathy vote at least!  ;)

Eldar rule!  They have some of the best firepower in the game, one of the best transports in the game, and incredible mobility.

Lets not even mention Wraithlords...

Wraithlord suck! They're too many points and get shot down too quickly!

Most important thing is pick an army you like the fluff for. If you take an army that you don't really like the fluff for you may not be as motivated to collect them. Trust me, this is experience talking.

Marines are cool, but they're nothing compared to the Guard!

It's not just the fluff you have to like about an army, you have to like their rules! I found that out the hard way when I started collecting dark eldar. I loved their fluff but their rules just aren't for me. I'm not used to this expendable troop thing.

Chaos has the good basic stats and survivability of Marines combined with cooler fluff and versatility. There's a Chaos army for anyone's style of play.
Seriously consider them, neither Eldar race are a good beginner's army (just my opinion, let's not start a debate over this)

But asking at this site is a pretty bad idea. Go down to your local gaming store, read the Codexes, compare stuff like fluff, tactics, prices and your enemies (if everyone else there plays Marines, maybe you shouldn't start a Marine army), talk to the staff, and decide.

When it comes to converting, nothing beats Marines! I've converted dosens of "display" marines; marines that have illegal weapon combinations, but look so cool! I've got rules for a lot of them, which I use with my opponent's consent.
