@Grizzlykin The conscripts from playing in the last edition have been the meatsheild. They don't really do much damage but have a scary potential if not dealt with. The allows my better infantry to do the work. And if some how... some how I can get 50 conscripts in rapid fire range 200 dice would just be funny. I would probably use the GW die app for it, for sanity's sake. If the first wave is alive by the time wave 3 gets into combat I would be a happy man. Commonly playing guard even with a win clean up is fast because most if it is already back in the box.
Against dedicated CC armies I'm hoping I can direct what they charge so I can minimize my looses to what I would consider chaff. Sentinel "platoon" and the conscripts.
@faitherun Your right I have been toying with keeping a brigade and the elite detachment gives me +1 CP and if I drop ~10 conscripts I can plop in another commissar I can do that also if I drop the m-laser sentinels to a squad of 2. If I have my opponents realize how to cripple my forces I'll end up doing this. Loss of the commissars does terrify me, I have managed to kill off plenty of squads so far by not killing them off but knowing I have reached that "critical mass" kill count that they will fall off the board unless they use CP.
The FW platform is about 30 points cheaper. Basically I'm getting my 3 commissars by switching to platforms. The main downside I see from the platform is once they get into close combat the enemy auto hits but they are never locked in combat so I can still shoot them off.
I added a detachment to let me have 5 commissars and +1 cp. I converted 1 scout flamer squad to an armored lascannon team and dispersed the lascannons through out the HWTs. This gives me a few arbitrary wounds before I get to las cannons and I can send to more out to the flanks. With all units split firing this shouldn't really effect the weapons' potential.
Now with 3 units of 35 conscripts I actually have 5 more and now if it goes really badly I can only loose up to 35 of them at a time. I am not hugely worried about drops, I have a TONE of them so I might make the sentinels all units of 1 so they can't get ripped apart by massed volume shots.
