Much.

But I know quite a few people (myself included) would like the ability to chose which theme they want to use.  The old theme was great, IMHO, but this is so bright it hurts the eyes...

As noted in one of the other threads about this topic:   The system is a bridge between Joomla (the CMS/main site) and SMF (the forum). Both these systems use their own theme-layouts and they don't talk to each other...

I am working on a module to link the two...   when I get it finished, there will be the option to choose your template/theme. In addition, those little color boxes at the top right of your screen will eventually allow you to choose a colour palette for this layout.

One thing at a time, though...

Two small issues I have with the new theme:

1. On my computer, the whole page doesn't fit on my screen anymore, so I have a sidebar at the bottom.  It's a little annoying.  (I'm running IE 7 at 1024x768 res)

2. The contrast between the grey background and the purple words makes them hard to read.  Those colors seem very similar to one another.

Besides those two things, I like the new theme.  I really liked the old one, but the brightness doesn't bug me too much and the menus look sleeker.

I'm afraid I'll have to add to that as well - I can't read this site properly with this new theme. It's doing both eyes and head in.

Sorry but I can't browse it like this. :(

EDIT: In firefox, the search box obscures the colour palette (no spacing above the search box). Don't know if it's the same in IE.

I don't even see a search box (is it in a new place?)

Also, while I before mentioned that there isn't a good contrast between the purple words and the grey background, it is especially bad on the sticky threads.  The words against the dark grey background are almost unreadable. Take a look for yourself.

I don't mean to criticize-- I know you're still working out the bugs and I'm sure you'll have everything fixed and better than before in time.

Layout seems cool, the menu bar on the left doesn't cut right in now so it doesn't need to be moveable. Though I have a huge slidebar at the bottom now.. Probably my fault for liking huge icons on my desktop...

The purple on grey isn't the best combo as people have mentioned.

The only real gripe I have is all the marine/imperial artwork!! 40konline not SMurfs online! ;)
As a site that developed from an Eldar site I'd expect more Eldar and varied artwok covering more of the races.

Hey, we work with what we've got.

Is someone wants to submit some ELDAR (or other race) banners for the top and bottom of the site, then I can include them in a banner roation...

Heh, now holidays are almost here I may find some time to do some banners... and I do rather like the new skin, and can't wait to have options in place. Good work Kindred.

What size do you want the banners though?

And to you gripers out there: I'd love to see you do better :P

Considering that the current title banner is 1024x220px, I'd assume that's the size for making them.

I've had major issues with loading up pages for the past few days.  As in I try to load and explorer freezes.

Fun stuff.  Good job it's kind of working again now.

Back to the original theme now?

I might have time to make some banners, if you are still using the old theme?

If not then darn =P

we will be switching back to the other theme, as soon as I figure out why some people were having problems accessing the site while that theme was being used..
