Hey, just got back on to the forums, but here's the thing i've noticed with 6th ed and DE.
Reavers turbo boost, they get
a better cover save (jink
save given when TB, Skilled rider gives
improvement). So when your TB around the field using bladevanes and caltrops, you can deal some dmg and be fairly survivable. I use a squad of 9 (cause only 3 come to a box), and mainly use them for harrass. I don't bother getting caltrops or grav-talon, as they are
pointless. I do put 3 blasters on them, just in case my opponent moves and I see a prime vehicle target within 12". Also, never forget about the free move that jetbikes get in the assault phase. I have TB'd into some pretty dangerous areas, then had that
extra move save the squad. Also, Skilled rider allows you to automatically pass all dangerous terrain tests, so have them end in cover to make them duck out of LOS.
As for heavy support....I have run a few games with a ravager or 2, but really its not neccessary. you get a free DL or DC with every Raider. Field 8 Raiders with DL and there is your anti-tank, and your not even having to spend extra points for the weapon. So if you have a squad that can take a Raider, take it, even if you don't intend to use it as a transport for that squad. Its a low cost, highly mobile, and often forgettable DL. I have has so many players forget about my transports, that don't have any troops embraked, until the DL shoots and pops a land raider. Never underestimate the psychological effect fielding 10 vehicles in 2000 point army can have.
For hellions. I love them. They do take a bit of finesse to work out. Not survivable enough to take hits to get into close combat, but great on the ambush. so try to get them in a situation where they can make a sudden attack, or a suprise against their opponent. Webway portals on archons are great for this, since they can assault in the turn they come in, and odn't have be all the way back away from the fight. Only trick is getting your webway portal out far enough
Stunclaw is great for somethings, but with challenges now, that means your squishy hellion going against a tanky IC, your helliarch is going to get owned before you can use HnR. This has happened 4/5 times i've tried to use it.
Well, GL with your army. And hopefully by now you've gotten a chance to play it.
[mod]I've removed the copyright infringing stats from your post, we all have the codex and Rulebook so there's no need to spell it all out - also I'm going to overlook the lateness of the reply this once as I'm fairly sure it'd have been on the front page but watch it in future, April was ages ago.....
