1500 pt. Armylist for Review
« on: July 20, 2002, 08:57:41 AM »
I've just started collecting a Tau army, and I'd like some constructive feedback (i.e. give me reasons, don't just say "drop this" or "add that" without telling me where I should get the points and why I should get what you're saying) on my planned 1500 pt. list:

[ HQ ]
Ethereal (HW Drone Controller & 1 Shield drone) - 67 pts.

[ ELITES ]
5 XV15 Stealth Battlesuits (Bonded) - 160 pts.

2 XV8 Crisis Battlesuits ('Fireknife' configuration - Plasma Rifle/Misslepod/Multi-tracker; Team Leader w/HW Drone Controller & 2 Shield drones) - 167 pts.

2 XV8 Crisis Battlesuits ('Deathrain' configuration - TL Misslepod/Target Lock; 1 Battlesuit has a Drone Controller & 2 Shield drones) - 137 pts.

[ TROOPS ]
12 Fire Warriors (Bonded) - 130 pts.
12 Fire Warriors (Bonded) - 130 pts.
12 Fire Warriors (Bonded) - 130 pts.
12 Kroot Carnivores - 84 pts.

[ HEAVY SUPPORT ]
2 XV88 Broadside Battlesuits (1 w/Target Lock, 1 w/Drone Controller & 2 Shield drones) - 175 pts.

Hammerhead Gunship (Railgun, Burst Cannons, Decoy Launchers, Multi-tracker, Target Lock) - 170 pts.

Hammerhead Gunship (Ion Cannon, Burst Cannons, Decoy Launchers, Multi-tracker, Target Lock) - 150 pts.

TOTAL:  1500

Good army, maybe som more anti marine weapons could be useful.

Fire Warriors ARE anti-Marine weapons!
One thing, you can only have 1 multi-tracker per unit. Great army apart from that.

What do you mean you can only have one Multi-tracker per unit?  On the Battlesuits it's their 3rd hard point, with the Fireknife team leader having his drone controller hard-wired.

No, I mean, that it is a rule that a group of XV8 or XV15 battlesuits may only take one Multi-tracker per unit. It's in the codex, isn't it? *yelling over shoulder* SOMEONE CHECK PLEASE!

I've never heard of that rule or saw it in the Codex.. the only thing that comes close is that you can't mount more than one support system per suit, not per unit, and you can't duplicate the same system via hard-wiring

What!!!!!!!!!! Marines never have any problems with firewarrior teams. Their super armour ignores the most shots or nearly all.

S5 weapons buddy, unlike S4 bolters! 3+ wound! Those guns are built for taking out Marines. Hehehe, they tear my Necrons apart all the time. Mmmm, Tau, must collect.

Yes, but AP 5 on 3+ saves means there's a good chance that 6 wounds will only result in 2 dead marines.

Pulse carbines though, make up for it as they will force pinning checks and I highly recommend them since they are a free upgrade.  True, you do not pin very often, but when you do, the results are devestating, and definately worth the risk considering it's free.
