Hold your tits and gird your loins, a New Year is nearly upon us. Not much is going to change swiftly but change will occur and perhaps within the year we'll get back to be useless as normal across the globe.

Girding advice posted below.

Remember not to gird too early else you'll get wrinkles. No-one likes a wrinkled girding.

Quote from: A E Houseman
As I gird on for fighting
My sword upon my thigh,
I think on old ill fortunes
Of better men than I.

Think I, the round world over,
What golden lads are low
With hurts not mine to mourn for
And shames I shall not know.

What evil luck soever
For me remains in store,
'Tis sure much finer fellows
Have fared much worse before.

So here are things to think on
That ought to make me brave,
As I strap on for fighting
My sword that will not save.

Seems somehow apt for these troubled times

Girding seems complicated. I'm just going into battle naked.

Is that really a good idea in Massachusetts at the end of December?

It worked for the Celts, didn't it?
If there is anything that recent politics has taught us, it is that quotes taken out of context can mean what ever you want them to.

It worked for the Celts, didn't it?

In Boston, they're the "Celtics" and they're mispronounced.

And it worked great for them so long as Bird/McHale/Parish were on the court.
