Not many animes are done with fantasy now Make :( I am very irritated by this since there where quite allot of older ones, but I dunno I don't think I've seen an anime which focus on Elves :S
Seikai Trilogy: Banner of the Stars 1&2, Crest of the Stars are sci-fi elves more or less :) not seen the anime but read the manga which I recommend.
I liked very much the anime myself tough I didn't read the manga.

Speaking of which, it appears to be damn near impossible to actually find a copy of the novel in translation. >:(
*grumble grumble* Stupid West, assuming that because it's a Japanese sci-fi series it must be made into an anime and manga straight away, because God knows we're all a bunch of illiterate morons with the attention span of a deranged monkey and no interest in actually reading the source material...

Anyway, I wouldn't have characterised the Abh as sci-fi elves. They don't have that much in common with elves, do they? People just look at the pointed ears and say 'Ooo, elves!' (even though it's only the Abriels that have pointed ears, i.e. the vast, vast majority of Abh don't have them). They are very neat, though.
The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

24 to the spot! So only 2 eps short of normal runtime.

Shoo Fox, we don't want you here.

There, there .. even a nutty kitsune needs a place of warmth to come to when the nights are cold and lonely (iow, no other person online on msn xD )

Quote
Shall we try to leave Pedobear, (rules #1 and #2) and lolicon out of this thread as far as it is physically possible? Please?

Trying to make Pedobear cry? X_X;;; ...you know you love him.

THIS THREAD IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD.

Especially seeing as I'm now on it. You should all be ashamed of yourself.

So, we all agree that Bleach has superior opening music and videos overall to Naruto?

Good. Now go say some stupid inane amphetamine parrot in reply to this post. Go on. I know you want to. I suggest Moonsinger start with a 'NO U' or a 'NEIN DU', then Azumi can misuse the name of Pedobear and try and force some 'loli' onto me, even though I know perfectly well what loli is. Maybe add a 'nyro' to the end of his (yes, everyone, HIS) post. Or a :3.

Disgusting. Now let's all go watch us some Afro Samurai.

Ciat,
Seer Fox

You know very well that USA is what's wrong with the world XD .. there's nothing wrong with a little (yeah I know, under-exageration) japanese kerazey-ness to spice up everyday life. Personally I think Naruto has far better OP/CL songs than Bleach. But that could also have to do with the fact that I've never come to like Bleach no matter how hard I've tried.
Have some pocky and un-bitter yourself xD ~nyo :3 <--- lawl, just for you Loli Kitsune (a new name for ya (; )
And if that's not enough, here's some jrock love for you ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHA0xHOzvHU

NegroAfro Samurai is go! Although not nearly as cool as Samurai Champloo (;

EDIT: Something special for you, a big smile from Totoro!! ^^

True, but I guess it seemed shorter. I think it was because most of the episodes were multi-part; 'Episode: X, part X: somethingorother'.

Black Cat is starting to make a little sense, now that we're a few episodes into the series, but I'm not sure I'll ever get over the cats that burst out nowhere, or the closing credits...

Since we're on the subject of cats...

Sure, sign me up.

Which reminds me about something I've been meaning to ask on the Forums for a while: anyone know of any good anime with Elves? I recall one I started watching that was ok-ish but otherwise I don't think I've really seen any, which seems a shame.

~MTWC

(elfen lied hehe)

but lodoss war I believe had elves, nice mix of fantasy, action.

I realise that I'm damning my soul for all eternity by posting here. . .
Yes, lodoss war had elves, but it wasn't really significant, still, was a good story

my anime/manga experiance is very limited, so I might be interessted in a n00b/junior membership :) if have seen:
Transformers (I think the original series + movie counts as anime)
Samurai Pizza cats
Bubblegum crisis
Appleseed
Howl's moving castle
and a movie about a half-vampire (donpeal?) which I can't remember the name of
Birthdays are good for you, the more you have the longer you live.

Elfen Lied I have seen and enjoyed (despite it being possibly the most twisted anime I have ever seen), and I think Lodoss War was the one I mentioned before, that I started watching and was 'ok'ish.

Anyway, Crest of Stars looks ok, so I may look into that further.

Guess who's back in the tavern!

About bloody time! :P

AZUMiCHAN, sign me up too please!
I've only been watchin anime for about a year, but thus far:

-GitS: SAC (1st & 2nd gig)
-GitS (TEH FILEMZ!)
-Death Note
-Full Metal Alchemist
-Much to my horror, Escaflowne. I decided to watch this cos I remember it from when I was a kid and it was on Fox Kids. However, it is terrible. The action is good, but the whole love story episodes make me want to punch my laptop cos Hitomi is such an immature lil' be-atch.

Lined up for watching I've got Outlaw Star, FLCL, Gundam Wing, and I need to buy the Cowboy Bebop and Evangellion DVD's off amazong. Oh and I'm debating whether to delve into the 100+ episodes that is Bleach...

CM

EDIT: GARGH! How could I forget!?

-Spirited Away
-Princess Mononoke
-AKIRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Surprisingly enough, I actually found it impossible to jack-off to Strawberry Panic. But I wasn't dissapointed.

And we don't talk about Hellsing because it's got guns, vampires and nazis. And let's face it NO-ONE who likes anime likes guns, vampires and nazis.

Right gang?

...

Right?

Sure, Fox, sure...

I cannot find the blasted Hellsing OVA, only the standard anime. But then, I guess that's to be expected, there's not much of a market for anime here in NZ, I shouldn't think.

In other news, what's Elfen Lied like? I found a boxed set of it, with what I assume to be the whole run, and I want to know if it's worth picking up.

It's very good, however definately not for the faint hearted. There is a lot of blood, decapitation, people being mamed and a host of other themes that appear (such as mental and physical abuse which appear often though in different forms throughout the anime). I believe Elfen lied has been called a showcase of what is wrong with humanity (as the bad things humans do is one of the central themes to it).

However, if you can stomach that I would definately reccomend you watch it, it is one of my favourite animes because there are a lot of flawed characters. Well, that and I've always liked anything with 'super power-ish' beings in it.

I would imagine the box-set is all of it, as there are only 13 episodes unfortunately (14 if you cvount episode 10.5 which just 'fills in the gaps' and is technically episode 14).

Not for the faint-hearted, eh?

I think I know a video store that has a few episodes of it, maybe I'll rent out the first disk, and see if I like it. That way I can avoid shelling out $100 for something that I may not enjoy, and by the sounds of it, could make me more than a little uncomfortable.

That would probably be a good idea, although there was only one episode that I wouldn't (and haven't) watch(ed) again, and that was the one that dealt with paedophillia.
