Re: IainC's Dastardly Diplomatic Devilry - Fall 1925 Orders Due 23rd October

I'd suggest playing out the end of the year and seeing how things fall then. I doubt that Azore will pull out a solo win this turn or that anything dramatic will happen but it seems better to halt at the year end than in the middle. If everyone involved agrees that it's a draw then that's fine.

As things stand:
Austria needs 3 more SCs for a solo win with 15 SCs
Russia is second with 9
Germany is close behind in third with 8
France is on the ropes with 2 and no way to build new units without recapturing at least one home SC.

If everyone wants to end the game then I'd suggest that Austria be declared the winner but that the points be shared between Austria, Russia and Germany.

I would certainly like to play this out a bit longer.  I have a few ideas kicking around, so I'd like to see if they'll work or not.

That's cool Azore. A decision to end the game has to be unanimous so if any of you want to continue, then it continues.

A Trieste.

If Germany is content with France staying as it is with Spain and Portugal (if he intends on simply holding in support) then I offer a four-way draw with scoring to be done as per the League rules with myself as the outright leader and ensuring that France gets his points for the game.

I enjoyed your support at the end of the game for France.  Seeing as you wouldn't let me claim the rest of France's provinces, I'm sure not going to let you do it.  I am surprised though that you didn't go for the 3-way win.  It wouldn't have been that hard for you.

I wouldn't be able to take all of Iberia, and I respect my allies (when I can't win outright, of course...).

If everyone agrees to Azore's offer then we are done. If anyone wants to keep playing then the game will continue.

The Spring 1926 turn will be due by Midnight GMT on Thursday 27th October I either need an agreement on the end of the game or a full set of orders from everyone by then. PM me orders as normal but post your thoughts on ending the game in this thread.

Yes, there are no new moves. Great game everyone, I don't think I have ever played so far into the 20s before. :)

I agree, it was a good game played by all, and it shifted around a couple times.  And an additional thank you for when I took over as Germany, for not pounding me into the ground right away, those were some uncertain times.

Yeah, I didn't really consider that Germany would return to its former glory and beyond. Just goes to show that just because things looks like crap it doesn't mean it has to end like crap. I was a bit surprised that our alliance managed to hold given how I stabbed you as Turkey, I was sure that was something that would come back and bite me during the Russian-German alliance, nice of you to not be petty about it.

Oh, and a special thanks to IainC who managed to keep it going like clockwork, great job as game master!

It would have been tempting, although seeing as Azore had also taken advantage of the stab, tough to take it out on the two of you.  Especially when I was just wanting to survive those first few years and various people were nice enough to support me as a buffer between them and their enemies.  Although, you never left yourself open for a good stab (unlike JoBob).

And thank you to IainC for running this long game!

Cool, so all are agreed then that the game is over. It was a marathon game with plenty of action even if things got a bit stale towards the end.

7 months of Diplomacy is certainly an achievement, special mention goes to Lockz for taking over Germany after Seraph Tenacious threw the towel in. After a hugely shaky start he clawed his way back to a very respectable position.

We (briefly) said goodbye to Lockz after the Fall 1906 turn. His short-lived adventure as Caliph was cruelly cut short by the combined forces of Austria and Russia only to re-emerge after the new year with a suspicious haircut and a new-found love of sausage as Reichsfuhrer of Germany.

Faitherun of Italy held out till the end of 1907 before the last Italian saluted La Tricolore for the last time and Dizz/Killing Time was knocked out in the spring of 1911. From then, and for the next fifteen years it was a four way struggle.

Well played all and take a well-deserved rest from forum-based intrigue!

Yes, a good game to everyone indeed!  It's still a bit disappointing that I couldn't grab my first solo victory, but there's always next time.

Congratulations Azore.

I've been following this game with interest since my untimely demise.
You were a worthy winner and perhaps unlucky not to get the solo win. I think once you got tripple teamed to curb your expansion it was always going to be an uphill struggle, so you did well to come out on top regardless.

Well played everyone! I have been following this game since May, and I think i've never seen a more dynamic game of diplomacy being played. Great kudos to Germany for the comeback.

Well played all, and congrats Azore.

I don't think I did too badly for my very first diplomacy game, and I sure did learn quite a bit.
