Bloms painting log (mostly eldar)
« on: March 20, 2020, 08:08:22 AM »
Hello gang
Long time lurker here
I have read the topic ”Whats happening” and I now feel the need to contribute more content to this site:)

Sadly I just paint and seldom play. But i thought that maybe I could post some pictures of my work

Here is a picture of my night spinner

Ops, the picture is really big. How do I post pictures in better size? Can someone help. Thanks

Regards Blom

Hi Blom!

So excited to see you take up your own blog! Welcome to the forum as a non-lurker! ;) ;D

That Nightspinner looks absolutely incredible!!! Did you an airbrush for the gradient on the hull?

Also really love that golden pattern you put on there, almost looks like clouds!

As far as image size goes, Imgur creates the images I use at the normal size, so I'm not certain how to adjust it with photo bucket.

I think Imgur would give you an easier time though :), and it's free.

Hey Blom looks super cool! I love the flame pattern it looks awesome! Some crazy kitbashing too, which I'm always a fan of.

Yeah for posting pics, I've been using tumblr. You can load up multiple pictures as once and just click on the photo when it registers in your feed. It resizes everything decently too. I tried google photos and flickr but they really dont work.

But thanks for jumping aboard! Cant wait to see more, great work!

Hello gang
Long time lurker here

I was surprised when I read this because I thought you had been quite active on here, turns out you must just have one of those names that stick in my mind. I remember you getting involved with some maths hammering on here.

Your Night Spinner looks amazing and the flames/tree (?) look really hard to paint.

Hallo gang!

Thanks for the kind words

@Myen'Tal Sadly I do not own a airbrush, everything is painted by brush

Ok second try (now with Imgur)

My night spinner

One of my serpents

I got to play last summer (small tournament). This was the army I used:

I recently finished a spiritseer

I also finished a chaos champion for my kill team

Dang man this is looking epic! Were you featured in White Dwarf waaaaaay back in the day for a Golden Demon? I swear I saw this army somewhere before... or even in the 3rd ed. Eldar Codex? I love this army!

That's an awesome looking army; the purple and golden yellow go together really well.

Amazing work, Blom, that has to be one of the most thematic craftworlds armies that I've seen. Looks so good!

Wow from the top that Night Spinner looks even more amazing. I really like how you have made the weapons glow.

That Spiritseer is giving off some serioulsy sinister vibes and it is the better for that. Also your 'seer looks nothing like the one on GW's website, so I am wondering what you have used.

Welcome and wow! I also think it looks familiar like Cavalier said. Great kit bash on the spinner. The free hand designs really add to the beauty of the models as well as the spirit stones. Nice to see and thanks for sharing.

wow, so many great details, the Yellow patterns look amazing.

Making use of the falcon to convert into a night spinner is a really nice idea, and the gunners helmet sticking out is also a nice touch. Nice use of the old high elf dragon reins too.

Looking at your army shot, I can see some nice conversion there too, and the way you united your force with the yellow looks great. Why the change of colour for the crimson hunter? It would look great in the purple too :)

The spiritseer conversion looks great, really liked the robe. Going for the helmeted head is a nice touch as it it gives it more of a sci-fi feel.

Hello gang

Thanks all for the kind words

@Cavalier; Never been in White Dwarf but I started painting in 3ed. In the 3ed eldar codex there where some pictures of an eldar army from a guy called Jonas Ekestam (see link) with cool flames and stuff. It inspired my to start my own eldar force.
CoolMiniOrNot - Fire Prism by FW DevilFlash

@Alienscar: The spiritseer is a simple head swap from the island of blood high elf mage and the spare head from the hemlock wraithfighter.

@magenb; I changed the colour of the hunter because aspect warriors have there own colours. (except Dire Avengers who also are purple). The hunter share the green colour with my shining spears as I imagine that they are in some kind of kinship.

I recently painted a platform for my eldar kill team

Some wips of my fire dragons

I also started a deamon prince

Hey Blom, glad to see you in the projects.

And what a start to your plog life! Those Eldar are brilliant. They seem to me to marry the old-school vibrancy with new, more muted tones. And they do it jolly well. I'm really, really fond of the bare-headed Fire Dragon. The whole unit looks great, but he's the cherry on top for me.

Nice take on the Fire Dragons, most I've seen have been brighter, but going darker really works well. The custom flame on the Exarch helmet is a really nice touch too.

Hallo gang

Thanks for the kind words. They really mean a lot to me (I have not really showed my stuff for a lot of people before)

@Looshkin; I use a lot of bare heads in my aspect warior squads. The reason is that the aspect warriors only comes in 3 or 4 poses and I do not think that it looks good if 2 doods have the same pose. My solutions is a simple headswap.

Here are some of my older stuff

Rangers

Reapers

Those look great! Did you replace the heads on the one reaper?

I have said it before, but I really like the sinister aspect that your colour choices lends to your models.

I also really like your bases. Have you used a basing kit, or have you made them yourself?
