Straightening bent Eldar weapons (FW)
« on: October 18, 2019, 06:46:50 PM »
Hello everyone,

A while back I ordered a pair of forgeworld tanks for my Eldar (a hornet and a lynx) but the main weapons are bent out of shape.

In the past I've worked with FW kits for my marines and imperial guard, and it was easy enough to heat up and straighten the parts.
However the curved/concave barrels of the Eldar weaponry are proving a bit more difficult. I've been messing with the Sonic Lance for the Lynx for over 40 minutes and it still looks wonky.

Has anyone here built these kits? And if so; do you have any tips to share.

Thanks in advance,

Hi. Yes, the gun on my lynx looked like a pretzel when I got it. I used a blow dryer to warm it up and moved into shape and then under water to harden it back up. Hope this helps.

Thanks Dread; you've bent them by hand and just eyeballed it?

When I did the barrels of my imperial vehicles I used to clamp them down so I had one straight edge, and than take it from there. The lance looked like it was cast by someone with a fusilli-fetish, and I already broke one of the connectors... but I'll try heating it with a blowdryer instead of submerging it in boiled water: that should give me a bit more control.

It took a little work and it was a few years ago but I got it better than I thought I could.  Good luck and be patient.

Mine has a different main gun, i though it was a called a 'Sonic Lance' but maybe it's the other one:

The segemented part has corkscrewed a bit, and I think that the support might have shrunk. Maybe is should cut the support free and straighten the pieces individually.
